@karel would it be a dupe of the other question you answered? If so I would suggest just linking them to it. I am having trouble editing that post into shape, though it's probably mostly the formatting
@Zanna No, it's something else. To be specific: I then did a recovery installation of Pop! which really messed up my initial Pop install (unexpected) but i could boot from Pop as well as Win10 via interrupting the boot options (del /esc) in my uefi/bios. so i had to do a full reinstall Pop!, i was expecting to be able to dual boot without issues afterwards but got disappointed. The windows bootmanager line on boot up disappeared while the option is still active in the uefi/bios.

@EliahKagan If you look at the edit history of this question, you will see the following line: "I’m on a Ubuntu fork (very close to pure Ubuntu). It uses Wicd which was working fine up until now, with no obvious cause for the problem."
This makes it off-topic. Nevertheless, I retracted my close vote.
Oh, I now see why you don't think it's OT. To me "Ubuntu fork" seems like another Ubuntu-based distro, such as Zorin, LXLE, etc. I didn't perceive this like Xubuntu, Lubuntu, etc.
I don't think we know if it means an official Ubuntu flavor or an unofficial derivative. (It may even mean something else entirely, such as an Ubuntu system installed from media that the OP has customized themselves.)
@Kulfy I saw. The answer you edited was perhaps in the LQP? But the answer I just edited has the older version of the same command. So, I guess the new answer which might be intended as a thanks post is ok as it's an update
@Kulfy maybe... I got to the edit suggestion in the queue from the timeline and approved it. I don't understand why it didn't work via the link - maybe some tinkering going on with the way suggested edits load on the post
@Kulfy oh right! yes, seems they admitted that they did not test the answer
status-completed
Update: We've changed the post notices for question askers so that they do not see the usernames of close voters listed - this includes askers with the close/reopen vote privilege.
We considered making it so that post owners with sufficient rep could still see the list, but deci...

personally I hate this hiding more stuff they are doing
I slightly disagree here. New users may think that the veterans are targeting them and may feel unwelcoming. But I'd say the names of close voters need not be hidden from users with close/reopen vote privilege.
I assume at least experienced user don't feel closing questions is targeting or unwelcoming.
Nevertheless there would be always two sides of a coin.
^^ The answer mentions a way to change the icon theme. From the question it's evident that the OP knows how to change the icon theme. New icon theme is applied correctly elsewhere (e.g. in Files), but just not on the desktop.
@karel sorry I didn't find the energy to deal with that... I really feel the post needs editing but can't figure out how to do it. You might want to flag it. Either way I'll try to look again next time I'm online.
@pomsky I think that's actually NAA in the straightforward way, albeit somewhat less blatantly than some posts: it's a reference to another post, it gives a little bit of information, but not enough to know what it's recommending without reading the linked post. It's effectively a (wrong) comment.
@Kulfy Your comment is the answer there. It's one of many situations where people try to use cat when it's not needed. The OP's thinking actually makes sense here, because cat will display multiple files, and many commands don't accept multiple files so it often makes sense to pipe from cat to them in that case.
I recommend posting an answer, especially if steeldriver does not do so.
