Q: Prove all invariant factors of $H_1 + \lambda H_2$ are real polynomials if $H_1$ and $H_2$ are Hermitian

ZhanxiongSuppose $H_1, H_2$ are $n \times n$ Hermitian matrices and $A(\lambda) = H_1 + \lambda H_2$ is a $\lambda$ matrix. I need to show all $A(\lambda)$'s invariant factors are real polynomials. I attempted to prove this by induction on $n$. It works well except for the case that all diagonal elements ...

Q: Arrange irrationals in ascending order:$ 2^{\sqrt{\frac{5}{3}}},3^{\sqrt{\frac{3}{5}}},5^{\sqrt{\frac{4}{15}}},29^{\frac{1}{\sqrt{15}}} $

TShiongHow to arrange following irrational numbers in ascending order: $$ 2^{\sqrt{\frac{5}{3}}}, 3^{\sqrt{\frac{3}{5}}}, 5^{\sqrt{\frac{4}{15}}}, 29^{\frac{1}{\sqrt{15}}} $$ My try: Using a calculator I computed the values $$ 2^{\sqrt{\frac{5}{3}}}\approx 2.445, \quad 3^{\sqrt{\frac{3}{5}}}\approx 2.34...

A: Tag management 2020

URLProposal: Remove gre-exam, gmat-exam. These are meta tags with very bare-bones tag wikis. Furthermore, there aren’t any other tags for important math exams, i.e. the IMO or USAMO, so why should we make an exception for these two?

@YuiToCheng Seeing your recent activity, I take it that you are working on the removal of . That's quite a big task (the tag now has 464 questions).
I will just remind that burninating and merging are also options when some tag is being removed. (The latter is less likely to be useful here.)
Burnination can be used is the questions are reasonably tagged after removal of the tag in question. Merging can be used if all questions remaining
Both burnination and merging remove the tag without any bumping. But manual retagging is certainly the option where the tags on each individual question get some attention in the process.
I think I said this before, but anyway: Thanks a lot for your work on editing tags (and editing in general)!

@MartinSleziak Thanks for your encouragement! I wish I have more free time spending on this site.

Well, that's one of the difficult things. Sometimes I wish to spend more time on the site. Sometimes I wish to spend less time here - if it's taking me from other stuff I should be doing.
