Q: What is a Shrink Wrap code attack?

Alois MahdalOn my C|EH course I have heard about term "Shrink Wrap Code Attack", but we've only mentioned it. Now trying to do some research and refresh the topics, I can't seem to find serious description of this attack type. Looking at presentation PDF I received at the course, it only cites couple of s...

@ThoriumBR ._.
I have a core i9 9900K with 32 gb of ram and.... one of the reasons I run some of the software I run is "Its lighter"

@JourneymanGeek I mean, wasting cycles on a heavy program isn't a good thing, but to me software "being light" is more of a thing of reducing bloat

@MechMK1 well - its the difference between say...I don't even know what else is out there and foobar2k

Like, I really like that my media player can play all kinds of file formats, music and videos alike, but I don't need a ton of the featurs that it includes
never used foobar2k, but mainly because I used VLC for aaaaaaages and feel no need to switch

and one of many decent pdf readers (I dumped foxit and pdfxchange cause they kept adding features and went with sumatra)...

My PDF reader of choice is actually Chrome
Because I already have chrome installed, so I might as well

10:45 PM
@MechMK1 foobar2k is essentially a winamp clone

No need to add something extra

@MechMK1 oh, I also use it as an ebook reader

My problem is that I don't know what foobar2k's "design goal" is?
Being lightweight? Being everything for everybody?

Its lightweight, no BS and modular

I mean, the last time I changed media players was from iTunes to VLC

10:47 PM
also a lot of snobs audiophiles love it

Because iTunes was...man it was fucking awful

for movies I run VLC or MPC-HC
cause they're light and minimal

My music sounds good to me on my headphones. I am too deaf to hear it well anyways
And I'd say when it comes to audiophiles, a good source file and decent headphones will get you 85% of the way already

as with a lot of software though...
"I have it set up the way I like it"

10:48 PM
yup

I mean, I am no audiophile
My head"phones" are actually a G432 gaming headset, which I chose because it has decent sound and a really good microphone

@MechMK1 practically - it gives me an option to set a device on exclusive mode (less important now, but useful in the old days). Lets me shove several thousand files and not crash :D

I don't have a dedicated soundcard, or 10k headphones, or god knows what

eh, I have "fancy" 300 dollar headphones :D

Me too actually. Sony WM300 or whatever
sony wh-1000xm3
Close enough :D
I switched to them from some old Bose headphones that I head for - I kid you not - 15 years
I had to replace the cable like once or so every two years, but other than that, it worked fine
And then I bought the sony one, mainly because it was noise cancelling and my office is next to a busy street

10:52 PM
which is fine
and I think most of them are fools :D

I mean, if it makes them happy?

but this does what I need it to do, and I'm used to it :D
but "light" is a silly reason I cling to with a lot of things :D

I mean, I know some miniature painters who go great lengths to make sure the colour of their paint matches the colour of a real life thing exactly
And then there's me who has like a 4 different "metallic" colours and uses that for everything
Good enough for me.
And when it comes to music, I appreciate a good mix, but there are other things waaaay more important to me
Like, when I listen to "Beneath the Scarlet Moon, The Crazed Blossoms' Severance", the sheer power of the vocals and the whole arrangement is just mindblowing

I'm a packrat, and suddenly want to search for a thing I last listened to years ago :D

Who gives a fuck if the music is 320kbps if it makes you feel something?

10:55 PM
>_>

@JourneymanGeek Just put on some Hybrid Theory :D

looks at his folder of mostly flac

but I suspect I have some 128 bps stuff from the old kazaa days

I have some mp3s too, but mostly of stuff that I could not get in better quality
But all my CD rips are FLAC
But the reason I use FLAC is out of principle
MP3 was always a compromise out of limited storage space. Nowadays, I only need to use MP3 on my phone, where it is just much more convenient
And a high quality FLAC->MP3 conversion will result in a much better sound than WAV->MP3->MP3->FLV->MP3->MP3, etc.
In the Permanent Denial-of-service, the attacker will uses the ‘Bricking a system’ method, in order to __________

a. Send fraudulent hardware updates to the victims
b. Launch a massive denial of service attacks and compromise websites
c. Exploit weaknesses in programming source code
d. Send malicious email attached to the victim
What the fuck are the CEH guys smoking?
Apparently, C is true. The CEH guys believe you brick a system in order to exploit a weakness.

Either, whoever wrote this question doesn't understand the grammatical construct of "I do X in order to do Y" (instead of "I did X because of Y"), or whoever wrote this does not understand the concept of cause and effect.
Identify the ports that are allowed by the firewall in an organization.

a. Port 443 and Port 69
b. Port 80 and Port 69
c. Port 80 and Port 110
d. Port 80 and Port 443
What the fuck is this question?
This doesn't make any sense
Oh my God, the quality is soooo bad
When I have time, I need to write a long blog post about all the dirt on ECC. Staring from their predatory advertising techniques, to their nonstop phone calls, to just the sheer incompetence
