Q: How can I cope with stress and stop being insecure and threatened by other women?

ToriSo recently my boyfriend and I have moved from NY to CA weโ€™ve been here about a month and I have not been coping with the stress of it all. We saved for about a year prior to the move and itโ€™s stressful watching the savings drain and trying to work as much as I can and do a good job at the new jo...

How's it going today?

Got a little headache. Probably because of chilly breeze. Had planned to watch three Oscar nominee films but could watch only one.

The one part that kept me interested was getting to know how he was going to snap. The sense of impending doom. But otherwise, I'm inclined to agree

I kinda of agree with you but nothing unexpected happened

windy and sick.
yours?

Our mods are windy :O
It's alright. Decided to go to the spa yesterday. That was a good idea. I went from super stressed to moderately stressed.

That sounds good! :)
I think you need another spa day to get rid of the last bit of stress though ;)

9:45 AM
I think so too. Perhaps next week.

I won't be able to go to the pool this week... too much things going on both at work and life in general. I'm sad :(
But I'll still go to Zumba so yay, I can still work myself to exhaustion :D

A J
@Belle Afternoon! Watched Knives Out yesterday.
Good movie!

@Belle Chilling at home, gaming, movies :)
went alright

10:24 AM
I called insurance and took the car to the repair shop this morning. They took pictures. Either the person who caused it pays or the waarborgfonds, but I should get it covered. I'm going to the police tomorrow to get the footage.
@AJ Nice! Did you like it?
@CaldeiraG Ahh a nice weekend :)

A J
@Belle yep
I also wanted to watch Ford v Ferrari and Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood, but couldn't

10:43 AM
@Belle yay :)
@Belle Indeed :p

I just did a 'per my previous e-mails'.
Monday mood.

god i hate having to put that in emails

Yeah well... this person had it coming...
We've exchanged enough e-mails by now about the same subject, where their question is already answered in my previous e-mail...
Oh, I also woke up to two invites to stuff solely based on my gender/age again... And my new crochet project is ending up asymmetrical again. So I'm in a particularly foul mood today.
Like I said... they deserved it.

:(
you did right and you deserve to feel better! Hope your crochet project will straighten up by itself or else ... I'll be coming for it ... and they better fear me.

@avazula I don't think it'll straighten out: I always have this problem when making stuffed animals with limbs/ears/snouts that need sewing on.
(don't look at the mess in the background please)

That cable management MY EYEESSSS

11:54 AM
@Mithical Yeah, I should've cropped it.

A J
@Tinkeringbell Still better than my desk. ;P

I don't think I want to know :P

It seems straight to me, but I'm very bad at seeing such things.

my cable management is bad around my computer at home xD

@Belle :) I do see it, maybe the picture isn't that great either...

A J
12:07 PM
@Tinkeringbell Is that a teddy bear?

@AJ Sort of, yes :)

A J
or a pig?
@Tinkeringbell Are you going to give it to someone today? ;)

@AJ Nah, it's not even finished!

A J
ohh

It's going to look like this:
(But different colors of course) :P

12:12 PM
hey

I rarely see you in the tavern anymore

True. I'm taking a break. :)

A J
@Tinkeringbell ohh

That's cute! I can see it now :)

12:21 PM
I must admit with the pink yarn it looked more like a pig to me too ;)

Oh, with the ears, I think I see the issue. Since you're crocheting in continuous rounds, one side is always slightly bigger than the other side. You can see in the example picture too: the white line on the left is slightly lower than the right. If you wish to avoid it as much as possible, you can try to put your "beginning" in the middle of the back or use individual rounds connected with slip stitches.

12:42 PM
Yeah, that's one thing I always run into. I'll keep that part about the beginning in mind. I put it on the side for this one, so the color change for the pants would be hidden beneath an arm :D

12:57 PM
An alternative is this technique: youtube.com/watch?v=UmATL8BUVz8
It works very well with colour changes actually
Here's the same technique while changing colour: youtube.com/watch?v=2LB9h6ZM7Mc

Does that come in text/diagrams too? I hate watching video's on youtube when it comes to crochet: They never just get to the point :/

Same :\ but I found this one difficult to understand in text. For this one, it helps to imagine your rows as if they're being 3D-printed. You start your row with a ch1 and then you start your row from that same stitch. Once you finish your row, you ignore the slip stitch and the ch1 and sl st into your first stitch.

1:12 PM
oh yeah that's just regular closed rounds though?

Yeah

those leave seams :/

They do :\

Thanks for the tip though.
I'm talking in short sentences as I'm typing 1 handed
sneezed too hard, now i have a nosebleed
I really like talking about crochet and really do apreciate the tips!

There's also a mostly invisible seam, I don't know if you're familiar with it? There's no slipping. You make your first stitch slightly bigger and when you finish the round, take the live stitch off your needle and draw it right through the first stitch.
@Tinkeringbell Oops

Q: How to get on good terms with a female friend, of whom I confessed my feelings to?

crazyfooI have a friend who I have known for a long time. We are not good friends necessarily, due the fact that we had just reconnected a couple of weeks ago. A couple of days ago I confessed to her that I have feelings for her and she told me that she had just gotten back with her ex recently. The fol...

A J
Dupe alert!

@Belle I think I'll try keeping the beginning of the round in the middle of the back first. Hopefully that'll help. I do sometimes do the slip stitch/standing stitch colour change if I feel it's necessary, most often it's just too much work though :)

@ExtrovertedMainMan Why do people think IPS is just for questions about romance and related questions? It's annoying

A J
@Mithical Because that's where major communication problems happen. ;P

Somehow they never read the help center, it seems

I guess if they just read the tour, that won't happen. But to be honest, new users never go through the tour. They just look at the existing questions and ask accordingly.

Q: Recovering from stumbling over words

scohe001There are times when I'm telling a story to friends, having a discussion in a meeting or giving a presentation when I'll stumble over my words. This may result in a word coming out sounding like gibberish or in me saying a wrong word altogether. I've observed this happening to other people aroun...

1:41 PM
@Tinkeringbell Or, on closer reading... maybe even a on-hold for 'what should I do' :/
@ExtrovertedMainMan Nooo @scohe I had't prepared an answer yet!
:P

@Upper_Case, I am not committed to speaking with her but I am really trying to fix this problem I have caused. If you have any advice that would be great. — crazyfoo 47 mins ago
How can you solve the situation without talking to her? :o

Nope, no answering in comments.
:P

@CaldeiraG hello there! My goal is to be on good terms with her again. I have Ben told not to talk to her about it but instead should slowly try to build a connection with her, but I donโ€™t know how. What would your advice be? — crazyfoo 46 mins ago
I gave you advice the last time + a dupe :P

@CaldeiraG Smoke signals maybe

@Belle A carrier pigeon perhaps?

1:53 PM
Hey crazyfoo! A few notes: We're not a site for 'advice', sites on stackexchange are for questions and answers about a defned topic, in this case, interpersonal skills (which are behaviours used to interact with people). You should really focus on getting your question in a shape that it can be reopened, and answered, instead of asking people for advice in comments. So, your question should focus on a behavior you use to interact. Also, it should help if you explained why the linked question doesn't answer your question. — Tinkeringbell ♦ 2 mins ago

@Tinkeringbell yay :)

I've single handedly closed that question I just linked. I also gave it an edit and three comments... let's hope it is improved!

Oh, I've got some good news to share.
Yesterday, I finally gathered the courage to explain my sexuality (asexual panromantic) to my partner. His response was simply: "Ah, okay." :')
I came out to someone! He didn't care! :D
