the episodes won't probably even have a main plot, just single shoot slice-of-life episodes unrelated to each other.
those are the Teen Titans from the old show. They are loosely based on the original DC comics, but the art style is far more "anime like" because the animation studio was collaborating with a Japan one.
if the original show focused on characters backstory and personal growth (especially for Robin and Raven) Teen Titans GO! is meant to be a "just fun" show, with no main plot, evolution or anything.
now, that is probably better that some fans would say, but the new art style had a specific purpose.
that doesn't work well with detailed characters (and is one of the reason even Anime often fall back to chibi version of the characters when they want to give them over the top silly appearance)
> The term is widely used in Japan to describe a specific style of caricature where characters are drawn in an exaggerated way. Typically these characters are small and chubby, with stubby limbs and oversized heads to make them resemble children. This style of artwork, also known as super deformed (shorthanded as SD), has since found its way into anime and manga fandom through its usage in manga works.

So, considering this, the first promotional pictures were interpreted as if the show makers were trying to go for a "cute" look.
notice: the ads was about the TOYS, not the animated series, but it also featured animated characters
this is only an example, but what I meant is that all the animation seemed pretty "wacky", as if the characters were specifically drawn to be over-the-top silly

> way from home. Here, Pinkie Pie serves up frosted cupcakes to the best customers in the world— her friends! PONY LIFE episodes feature hilarious, “SLICE OF LIFE” stories that modern kids can relate to. The series is LOADED with magic, including a mysterious source of potions that Pinkie keeps hidden behind the bakery counter and breaks out when the need arises.
as I said, it is already somehow clear that the fans probably wouldn't love the show to be turned in a toilet humor show "Uncle Grandpa" style.
So, having characters that seems constantly out of their mind is not gone to work if the show was meant to be a slice-of-life show about friendship.
Having a slice of life show about friendship try to solve problems using potions already is quite.. questionable.

and in that case, you don't want the characters to constantly look like they are out of their mind
