Can we not fat-shame, please?

user15026
I happen to weigh 310 lbs, and can fit into lots of damn things, for one.

user15026
For two, his weight has 0 bearing on any of it, it's not important, relevant, and should not be used to mock him, or make any sort of damn character judgement.

user15026
It's not funny, it's rude as hell, no matter who the person is.

seriously, people doing awful things is more than enough to yell at them about

user15026
I am so angry right now. I am so tired of non-fats using fatness as a damn judgement.

11:05 PM
any time you make fun of a terrible person's inherent characteristics you are doing splash damage to everyone else who shares those characteristics

user15026
Pretty much. Now I feel like shit, because yes, I "carry my fat well" but I am still fat, so if you judge him and mock him, you're also saying "I don't value anyone who is fat, and think it's funny to remark on how uncomfortable their lives possibly are"

okay, I understand. Sorry
I didn't know about that aspect of you, wasn't considerate about it

user15026
The thing is? I shouldn't have to splay myself open like that to teach people how to be empathetic humans (or at the very least, learn how not to weaponize physical characteristics)

tbh its just as rude regardless of who else is in the room

user15026
you shouldn't need a fat friend to keep you in line, as it were.

11:09 PM
^ this

user15026
@GodEmperorDune Pretty much. You'd feel awful if someone did that to queer people/PoC/disabled people etc even if none existed, fatness is the same.

user15026
Anyway. I'm gonna go poke Active Directory with more sticks.

Agreed with the above but completely unrelated if you figure out Active Directory @Ash you can totally come handle some stuff for me if you want because that is the blackest of magic :P

user15026
@TimStone I'm getting better at it!

@TimStone what's that?
Wikipedia's first sentence on it terrifies me :o

11:16 PM
(I have become almost solely responsible for a giant corporation's AD stuff, like adding new users and sorting out OUs and groups and things. I can't build you this stuff, yet but I can handle interacting with an instance already set up. I've even learned how to play nicely when it connects to Office365, most of the time.)

user15026
@Stormblessed laugh I feel like...that's likely accurate for dealing with AD.

@Ash uhhhhh wow the power in your hands

Yes, lol

user15026
@GodEmperorDune laughs So much of my day is "oh god don't break it"

@Ash Oh is it what you use to apply the same restrictions and stuff to a bunch of Windows computers at school or work?

user15026
11:18 PM
like...there are other humans who touch it, but I do a lot of the daily bits

@Stormblessed it's like the god node of the network, specifying user policies and stuff yeah

user15026
Like the user maintenance stuff and whatever. It's been a lot of learning on my feet, and a lot of praying. (Seriously. There's a Baha'i prayer that goes "Is there any Remover of Difficulties save God? Say: Praised be God! He is God! All are His servants and all abide by His bidding." that I say...almost every time I spin up a new thing.)

user15026
I'm like probably infant baby-mode when it comes to what I can do with it, but every day I figure out something else.

@Ash do you pray in English?
just curious
like is there a language that Bahais use for religious stuff?

user15026
@Stormblessed I do, yes. It's my native language.

user15026
11:20 PM
@Stormblessed Generally, nope, you pray in whatever language you know.

that's convenient

user15026
It's helpful!

user15026
Not all the prayers are that short, but I've got that one memorized. It helps keep me chill.

user15026
@TimStone It helps when I learned to use it I didn't understand what it was, so I wasn't scared of it :P Now I am like "DO THEY KNOW WHAT THEY HAVE DONE" when I think about how I just got tossed into this :P

@Ash i mean i know people who have been dealing with it for 10 years and are still scared of it

user15026
11:24 PM
I am in good company then.
