Hey, so who controls the CGCC twitter account?
I mean, when questions become HNQs, they seem to be tweeted onto the account.
So is that a manual process, something set up by SE, or something maintained by the CGCC community?

Hey, can anyone help me optimise this for loop?
Where rs is a 2d array which is around 1,000,000 by 7 in length
Searching online suggests list comprehensions, but those make the execution time longer
 
@BetaDecay Is filter any faster?
And then len I guess
len(filter(lambda r:numpy.sum(r**2) <= 1, rs))
 
Complains with an error "filter object has no property len" so I guess I'll need to convert it to a list
Ah that's a shame, it's extended the execution time by two seconds
 
Converting to a list is definitely slower
 
@BetaDecay can't you just vectorize?

Brilliant. Especially this year, now that we have a decent enough mathematical background to get into the proper stuff
Like Lagrangian mechanics and the linear algebra formulation of quantum
 
Nice, I have no clue what you're talking about but it seems to involve some maths which is good.
 
Yeah, the maths is what makes physics good haha
 
If you can, don't forget to take some classes about algebra or nubmer theory or topology or things like that!
 
Unfortunately we don't have a choice in which maths classes we take

@BetaDecay I would also suggest looking into goup theory a little bit. It could even come in handy in physics - and most of the definitions and theorems as well as their proofs are quite concise, so it is something really pleasant to work with!
 
@flawr Ah, we covered group theory briefly last year
So I'd imagine we will cover it in more depth in the future
