@Robusto I know, right. I fondly remember the days when myself and everyone I knew just went to uni at 10 pm to spend the night in one of the computer rooms there chatting via IRC. Talking to a completely new stranger every night. No pics no avatars no anything. Just white text in a black shell. Impossible to describe to anyone who's not been there.

I remember telling someone in Spanish that I lived in Germany close to the French border. And remember them replying how good my Spanish was that I'd be able to say that in Spanish.

Alas. The memories.

I remember the very first time I used Google. I remember exactly who first mentioned the word to me, and where we were at the time.

These days people can't even remember the last time they used Google. Everyone just dumps whatever question they happen to have on whatever site they happen to be at the moment.

Why google for "how to cook spaghetti" if you're on MuseScore. Just ask on MuseScore.

Why go to MuseScore to ask about the difference between a flat and a sharp. You're on ELU, so just ask on ELU.

I miss the simpler times.

I am constantly amazed how many people will ask me if I could write down the chords for song X for them. I'm like, yo, you can see them on your phone right now. Just the chords, or the tabs, or the full score. Arranged for any combination of instruments in any key of your choosing.

We've been spoiled. We don't know how good we have it anymore.

I remember as a child if you didn't know how to play a song, you would have to put on the winter coat and take the metro to this or that brick-and-mortar music store and ask them if they had the sheet music. Which they never did.
