@ktye @dzaima would you mind if i added you as room owners? just in case something happens to my account in these difficult times for stackexcange
@ngn sure
@ngn go ahead
ngn
ngn
@ktye it says "Users must have at least 20 reputation to talk"
yes, im not a trustworthy person. i know.

@ktye strange. obviously you already can talk. if you ever feel like answering an apl or k question at stackoverflow to get some minimal rep, whenever it's convenient for you, do ping me :)
... or go question, of course
@ngn i think adam gave my permission somehow.
ngn
ngn
@ktye permission to talk?
@ngn may be yes. or just to enter the room. dont remember.
ngn
ngn
@ktye only mods can do that. room owners like adam and myself (and now dzaima) only have the right to ask the mods for explicit write access on behalf a low-rep user
but here were are not talking about write access. we're talking about adding you as another owner.
an owner can grant ownership to other owners without mod intervention, but apparently there's this silly minimum rep restriction
which apl/k run on mobile? there are a couple of them, right?

sounds like a question for @dzaima :)
anyway, 2 days off in germany tomorrow. i'll do my best to n:+1
@ktye this thing with dzaima/APL, I haven't found any runnable k due to arm CPU. there's also the obvious ngn/APL as its JS
apropos ngn/apl, maybe it's worth checking out fabrice bellards recent js to build small static binaries for it and oK.
ngn
ngn
@ktye do you have a link?
you definetly should not need a link for bellard.org!
https://bellard.org/quickjs/

tbh, i don't expect wonders. js simply can't be as fast as c.
@ngn if it's not for speed, than at least for portability and compactness
ngn
ngn
looking at the bigger picture, i should probably deprecate ngn/apl and start phasing it out of the internet. i haven't done any work on it for a long time and my interests have shifted steadily towards k, and in the meantime better apl-like languages filled this niche.
oK seems abandoned too, but it's more feature complete and fun to program in
@ngn please don't. it serves well for learning some concepts. Just mark it as archeologic and leave it online.

yeah, you're probably right. i can't remove all copies from the internet anyway :)
also the paper about it with the array representation. very important.

meh. i just wrote it to get my 15 minutes of fame, by Vector standards
strided representation isn't really more efficient except in a few special cases, and more importantly most apl-ers don't understand and don't expect this kind of representation
oh, and my attempt to augment apl with a call/cc was a failure. nobody even understands terms like that outside of lisp.
the only good side of ngn/apl was the immediacy with which it could be tested, until tryapl appeared, and then tio.
07:52
@ngn huh, hadn't seen that. js does now have async functions that could solve your 3rd problem, though i have no idea at what performance cost
ngn
ngn
@chrispsn do you want to be an owner too?
@ngn sure!
ngn
ngn
ugh...
"Users must have at least 100 reputation to be a room owner"
so, there's more than one threshold, apparently
@chrispsn sorry, ^
@chrispsn btw, i noticed mesh was hn'ed again and got quite a bit of attention, congrats
@ngn Thanks! It was completely out of the blue
I’m considering switching to a custom language that’s easier to parse while preserving JS interop; the parser is just way too big
