I changed my mind
about?
It happens to the best of us :) no worries either way
Has anyone had success with a Ranged-focused Battlemaster Fighter?
As far as I can tell, none of their features require a melee attack: only "hit a creature with a weapon attack"
Well, okay. The Sweeping Strike requires a melee attack.
Still though.
@Xirema I wasn't playing it, but someone at the table was a big fan of tripping strike (or whatever the name) and the one that lets allies ... reposition?
Seemed to work
@goodguy5 Yeah, that could be pretty effective.
18:24
demons!
cursed mistagging database
@Xirema yes, so much yes.
Archery fighting style, Sharpshooter feat, + PRECISION DICE!
Converting misses to hits when there's a +10 at play is huge.
Also, commander's strike to let the rogue double up on SA every turn round, whenever possible.
@nitsua60 Oh wow, yeah, that could be really powerful.
Goading and intimidating are fine, too.
But they seem to always make the save, so I feel like those don't get much mileage.
Precision's basically always useful, commander's situationally excellent.
Oh, distracting from a distance is nice, too. Depending on turn order.
18:47
@nitsua60 two SA per turn?
@nitsua60 This, a whole lot of this. BM's CS helps rogue spread pools of blood all over the floor..
I thought SA was specifically written as once per turn.
@ColinGross yes. turn. not round
@ColinGross In context, I think they meant double up on SA every round.
@ColinGross Yeah, round. Sorry.
18:49
How do you get two per round?
Rogue SA's on rogue's turn, and then on my BM's turn. It's lethal.
The CS lets the rogue attack as a reaction.
On a different char's turn.
Works
A L18 BM and rogue pair took on a pit fiend one session... Distracting strike, commander's strike (rogue SA with adv), precision strike, distracting strike. Rogue's turn. SA with advantage.

Lotsa hurt on that balor.
I'm going to have to post a meta, I think.

Unless anyone knows of ways to not get flag alerts from other stacks after 10k site rep
barring, just issuing large bounties
@nitsua60 Took me a moment to remember that Fighters have Action Surge.
Yeah, that's a heck of an opener.
@goodguy5 the rooms are crossing aaaaaaa
18:58
heh
@Yuuki There's a lot of shared interest between video games, board games, and ttrpg
@Rubiksmoose someone else suggested using advantage instead. Good plan.
@G.Moylan My wife also loves the show, also Catholic. Hmm, did they decide to do a third season? We left off at the end of season two when the battle with Vikings/Danes, and the daughter being able to return to Mercia and not get quite so badly treated by that young noble ...
@KorvinStarmast what about bonus action dashing? or haste action dashing, or both?
@goodguy5 Wing it. Nice thing about ToTM is that it really supports Rule of Cool.
true
@Xirema That's just the usual Extra Attack (3) there--no Action Surge. (Yet!)
19:06
@goodguy5 mxy pointed out in his answer that trying to get too much precision rather defeats the purpose of ToTM. I agree with him on that.
@goodguy5 well the +12 is without any dashing, but yeah I wondered that myself. In the end it probably just gets handwaved
I mean, the thing hit back pretty hard. But the two of us were able to drop it just as the bard and wizard came 'round the corner to find us =)
@KorvinStarmast absolutely. Me as well
@nitsua60 Our tier 3 game on Monday had to move due to lack of DM's wife being able to play. In that game, we have a gloom stalker with SS, a BM, and a Barbarian with GWM, and a rogue. Now and again, a round will end with an amazing amount of damage being done.
Other times that bunch don't hit so much. My Champion just grinds away with his three attacks per round ....
@KorvinStarmast Yeah--when party DPR starts to sneak into the 200s... things get interesting =)
19:10
When fighting Giants, it's handy to get the occasional nova round. They have a lot of HP and Fire Giants have decent AC.
When fighting giants, you should always stand on their shoulders.
Also, see if you can hire a two-man alternative rock band as back-up.
@Yuuki No, that just gets you advantage on Perception checks.
They're stronger than you'd think because They Might Be Giants.
Who's They May Be Giants?
They Might Be Giants (often abbreviated as TMBG) is an American alternative rock band formed in 1982 by John Flansburgh and John Linnell. During TMBG's early years, Flansburgh and Linnell frequently performed as a duo, often accompanied by a drum machine. In the early 1990s, TMBG expanded to include a backing band. The duo's current backing band consists of Marty Beller, Dan Miller, and Danny Weinkauf. The group has an unconventional and experimental style of alternative music. Over their career, they have found success on the modern rock and college radio charts. They have also found success...
19:25
No, you missed the deeeeeeeep cut reference. Sorry.
To be fair, most of my knowledge of TMBG comes from KoL references.
So it's shallow at best.
And I haven't played KoL in a long time.
@kviiri Funny you mention that. One of my best DM's was an episcopalian seminarian.
So it's also rusty.
But shallow, therefore unlikely to give you tetanus.
> Gloria: What do you think--what do you make out of that recording?

Guy on Phone: I don't know, Gloria, I just do--

Gloria: Some kind of singing. They sound like all kinds of people, right?

Guy on Phone: Yeah.

Gloria: And then it says, "Another child is born in India every time you call this number," right?

Guy on Phone: Yeah, right.

Gloria: Does that make any sense to you?

Guy on Phone: No, it doesn't make no sense to me.

Gloria: Bu--and the guy that spoke--I don't know who he is.

Guy on Phone: Yeah.
what's that from?
19:38
a record by that same band.

1 hour later…
21:01
That user never asked about "Where to buy material components"
21:15
@SirCinnamon Yes, they decided not to.
@Glazius Ah well, answer wouldn't have been all that helpful anyway I figure
"Varies by setting and availability, ask your DM"
"Terms and conditions may apply, while supplies last"
@Rubiksmoose how about beer? Could fabricate make beer?
I say yes
I like both answers so far.
Yeast as creatures might have some implications i don't like, but the point just edited into that answer is convincing
Also I disgree that trees are creatures
that's a wild implication
21:31
Yeast as creatures might be homebrew material
Pun totally, absolutely, emphatically intended
Boooooooooooo
I'm in physical pain
Guys, what happened to the eagles that were watched by the whole chat some months ago?
Jul 30 '18 at 18:08, by Mike Q
@GreySage Retired after the eagle baby flew away, I think the nest fell apart too
21:46
That was a fun time
22:05
Fabricate is the fad spell today, it seems ....
@kviiri They are a form of mephit, as near as I can tell. :)
Beer mephit
I guess WoW did that with it's Alementals

@BESW Thanks :3

Can anyone please link me to a good guide on Wizard spells in Pathfinder? I know the iconic Treantmonk's guide, but he doesn't cover a lot of spells.
Ben
Ben
23:25
@Baskakov_Dmitriy Define "guide"?
@Ben A text that analyzes each of the spells available in Pathfinder, perhaps limited to some defined sources, and tells how well those spells compare to each other.
Ben
Ben
Ah ok
It can be a compilation of guides that each cover a narrow portion of spells available
Ben
Ben
cc @MikeQ would potentially be able to help
Don't want to point fingers though haha
Bleh why do I keep getting summoned for Pathfinder things
23:28
"Bleh" sounds almost like a popular Russian slutshaming swearing word.
laughs
Ben
Ben
@MikeQ Because you're the most recent person to have shown a competent knowledge of the system? haha
hey there @MikeQ
Ben
Ben
@Baskakov_Dmitriy I use it a lot lol
@MikeQ Because some Russian guy here is too lazy to analyze every single spell available in Pathfinder and wants a guide on that matter
If you know any good guide on Pathfinder Wizard spells, it would be awesome.
Ben
Ben
So at least we're only asking for your recommendations, not your actual knowledge
23:32
Well, if MikeQ writes a separate guide like KRyan likes to do in response to people's questions... :D
However, since an existing guide might be quicker to get now, I'd probably prefer an existing guide.

Long Live the King of Monsters! card game: prototype 0-1 for playtesting (Google Drive PDF download; cards print double-sided)

@BESW curious headtilt
...and of course as soon as I post it I see copy errors.
Eh, nothing that will make a problem getting useful feedback.

@BESW My day has now been ruined for anything else :D
@Ash Long Live the King of Monsters! is a party game I made last year. You roll up random silly monsters and fight each other for control of Monster Island (and hope that your rampages don't just sink the island into the ocean).
But it was a bit unwieldy because it was a lot of "roll on tables and write down the results" so I'm adapting it to a card game with a playmat.

@BESW What's the cog +/- icons?
user15026
@BESW Oooh, fun
@Ben If you want to track your floating +1d6/-1d6s, you can put coins/tokens/dice on the corresponding cogs.
Ben

Ahh good idea
It's 9.45am, I'm at work, and I have a date tonight but I can't wait to play this! Haha
user15026
laughs make your date play it with you? :)
user15026
@SirCinnamon ah, yes, one of the pets I don't have yet. (Seriously I swear most of WoW for me is "ALL TEH PETS ALL THE PETS FOR MEEEEE" because so many of them are great)
23:49
hey there @nitsua60

Her: "So do you have any interests"
Me: "I was waiting for you to ask. This game is called 'Long Live the King of Monsters', and was adapted from a 100-word RPG this guy made a few years ago... you have a head feature, a body feature..." [Starts dealing cards]
user15026
Exactly! It's a foolproof plan.
Basically, hey everyone

@MikeQ So, any guides available? :(

"@everyone" to ping all members currently "active" (or were active at least 10 mins ago)
@Baskakov_Dmitriy Impossible to say. Wizards have the biggest spell list in the game and Paizo keeps adding more.
There's a handful of nigh-universally-useful spells and feats, and I'd reckon that most google-able guides cover those.
