My phone does that (not all the time, but very very (too) often...) even with the proper keyboard enabled to switch between languages, that should allow the proper speller-checker to be on/off. It might be such a problem too (using an english word in a spanish text), and no big deal ;) — OldPadawan 1 min ago

@Noon : this type of question is very old, and, since then, IPS policy has evolved a lot, even though it should have already closed at the time, too opinion-based here IMO — OldPadawan 1 min ago

keep in mind people can handle stress and emotions in different ways, some people really appreciate the supportive friend, others prefer to have friends that try to keep things normal. If you don't know where she stands there you've already offered the supportive route, give her some space and maybe try going back to your normal topics. Side note, sounds like you're doing just fine, don't let the bad luck worry you — BKlassen 1 min ago

The downvoter clearly doesn't know anything about the UK banking system. The picture painted by the OP's book reference is at least 60 years out of date in the UK. I have never even set foot inside the "local branch" where my account is nominally based since the 1970s. — alephzero 28 secs ago

Beautiful answer. If I were the OP, I would mix the first part of this answer (that addresses the beer snob part) with the second part of Schoe's answer (that addresses how to carry a conversation about brewing). +1 — Crazy Cucumber 57 secs ago

Not exactly the same as this question, but see my answer to a different question here: interpersonal.stackexchange.com/a/19656/3089 tl;dr: People who ask about your hobby probably don't want the full story, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't be interested in a little tidbit. Give them one step, one hint, one story. Let them ask more if they want to know more. Right now your friends are just ribbing you a bit, let it happen and they'll move on to other things eventually. — Bryan Krause 31 secs ago
