Of course I hope you won’t run into them, but in case a confrontation turns out to be unavoidable, keep in mind you have the upper hand. You don’t have to justify yourself to them and any onlooker will put two and two together (if they respond as aggressively as you expect no one will fault you for blocking them). Just tell them you don’t want any contact (nothing more) while remaining calm if possible and they’ll be out of options. — 11684 27 secs ago

That is indeed all there is to it. IMHO I'd add that actually having a degree is worth it, and going back to the university later is so incredibly hard that few people do it - so the family kinda has a point. OP shouldn't resist following good advice just because it comes from family and friends. But. as you say, it is a choice, and that is all there is to it - as far as "explanation" goes — Stian Yttervik 1 min ago

The real close reason should be that it is not a problem where interpersonal skills work. It is solved by calling the landlord that her deposit has nothing to do with you, and telling her that she needs to pay the deposit now or be out. Now you can ask (IPS needed) how to tell her without upsetting her, and in a way that makes her pay. — gnasher729 22 secs ago

@Saswati here are some things you could try: 1. Take an English class at a local language school. You should find that some classmates will be interested in hanging out after class and practicing talking together, which can help a lot. 2. Try not to feel embarrassed: it's not your fault that you can't speak English fluently. People who laugh at you are likely covering up for the fact that they only speak a single language and probably couldn't learn a new one very well. 3. Once you're a bit better speaking English, try getting a job where you have to speak it all day, every day. — Aaron F 49 secs ago

+1 for you, good sir/madam. I don't think I stressed enough that my method is really best as a last resort, your way will probably be a better starting point. It seems we are the angel and the devil atop OP's shoulders — Cubemaster 37 secs ago

@DarkMatter DEFINITELY do not do that. You do not want that to be the last note as you walk out the door. That is openly antagonistic, and will only worsen the situation. It might give some momentary relief, but is likely not worth it in the long run — Cubemaster 1 min ago

I think claiming that a simple nude picture could cause serious problems for most people is a bit melodramatic. It's not like being in a porno. I would bet that most people who are relatively young and attractive have probably traded nudes with someone at some point. I can't recall seeing any scandals over something that mild. If it really is so common, would you mind editing in a couple recent examples? — Kat 1 min ago
