Χαίρετε!
@JoonasIlmavirta Scrolling through the help page; is it possible to add multiple example comments under the "Improve posts by editing or commenting"? Your comment replying to me, standing alone, looks somewhat odd.

@EthanBierlein Salve!
@EthanBierlein Nope. Our control is limited to choosing the example question from a list of eligible candidates. (If the list is empty, we're down to daisies and unicorns.) The system does all the rest automatically, including faking scores and dropping unneeded comments and answers.
I wish there was a way to fine tune it, but no. The shortest answers and questions are rarely the best ones.
If you want to change the system, you'll have to bring it up on the mother meta.

@JoonasIlmavirta Ah, I see. Just wondering. I'll see about bringing it up on Meta.SE.

@EthanBierlein Let us know if you do so. I and some others might be willing to support such a cause.
But check out whether it has been discussed before. There's a fair chance a similar proposal has been shot down before, and awareness of such history makes a difference on meta.SE.

@JoonasIlmavirta I'm working on it right now; I'll give you a heads up when it's posted.

@JoonasIlmavirta Just curious, and I want your input on this for the question, since I myself am not a moderator: what specifically would you like to be changed with the tour page? What would you like the ability to change? Etc.

@EthanBierlein That's a broad issue, and I don't have a full answer in mind now.
I suppose the main thing is that I would like to have the tour include a good question with two good answers. But that's not enough for SE, as they want something more technically specific.
Why the length restriction, for example? Couldn't we just crop a longer post instead? Rarely are short posts good.

@JoonasIlmavirta No worries, that's fine. :)

Q: Can the tour page be reformed and can moderators be allowed to fine-tune it?

Ethan BierleinBefore anything, this should be made clear: I am not currently a moderator on any Stack Exchange sites; most of what I will be proposing here is based on statements I myself have read from moderators (namely @JoonasIlmavirta in the CONLOQVIVM chat room). I'm not going to beat around the bush: th...

You got a useful comment, too. Now I just wonder what those relaxed conditions are. It might be worth asking, as we have only one eligible question and that goes out the window with a single edit or a comment cleanup.

@JoonasIlmavirta Indeed it would be. I myself would still prefer that the requirements are lost entirely and that moderators can simply make selections themselves.

@EthanBierlein It's also good that in case the chosen question gets deleted or severely edited, a new one is automatically chosen in its stead. But I suspect it would always be better to alert the mods and have them decide.

I agree.

@Cerberus Do you think we should ask a CM to loosen our sample question criteria? We only have one eligible one now, and it's easily lost.

Hi!
Sure, why not!
