Q: Are Thor and Indra the same?

Are Thor in Norse mythology and Indra in Hindu mythology the same? Do the people of that particular area know Indra as Thor?

Though we have one discussion but it's about Buddhism and Hinduism, Jainism. Buddhism and Jainism are actually Nastika Darshana of Hinduism. So, it can be compared but How about comparing concepts of Hinduism with different religions? e.g the recent question ^^?

I think we can close it as off-topic since we can't answer anything about Thor.

@Pandya I think at some extent yes , because the question is also about one of the gods of hinduism and not purely outside the domain , But the comparison should be in between similar deities , and not like Are Indra and Apollo .
