the jury has found jacob goodwin guilty of malicious wounding. they have returned to the jury room to deliberate on their sentencing advisement. the sentence is 5-20 years.
That DeAndre Harris was found not guilty has really thrown a wrench into these guys defense I think
I worked at Amazon several years ago for a month or two. I took an unauthorized pee break because I happened to be close to the bathroom. When I walked out, a guy was waiting for me and told me I couldn't do that again. I went to HR, quit, and left. Never to return... https://twitter.com/businessinsider/status/985811909114023936
Jury has recommended ten years and theraputic services, including "empathy training" but ultimately the court will decide for real at the sentencing hearing in August
I'm actually not sure it's possible to be more corrupt than Pruitt at this point. He's kind of checked every box possible of things you aren't allowed to do
@GodEmperorDune for a moment there i was about to say it was Goldmember but then i remembered that the woman was covered in gold and there is a another bond movie with a similar scene but with oil
@GodEmperorDune Having just given the IRS a five figure sum I guess I can see how just…not opting not to do that…might add up, but you'd think getting that money would be more pressing for them
They made me file over $79 once upon a time you'd think $280k would take priority idk
Proud Boy in Seattle finds a sign he doesn't like during #MayDay & tries with all his might to rip it up. It doesn't work out. [h/t @nategowdy] #MayDaySea https://t.co/Z2P0KhQw0J
@GodEmperorDune Indeed that jontron dunk was great.
@TimStone Not necessarily Nebraska, but:
> The mayor of another small town in a Plains state wrote about his mixed reactions in reading the piece. I know who this mayor is; he is from a state and county that went very strongly for Trump; and he asks to have his identity protected precisely so he can keep destructive national politics from undermining constructive efforts in his home town.
> immigration is helping us resolve many labor shortage issues
So basically if you have a place where lots of people are moving away due to lack of opportunities/big cities, sometimes there are growing immigrant communities there
The other common exemplar Fallows brings up is Erie, PA
But I'm probably totally overthinking it - it probably comes down to a Trumpian governor or AG.
@GodEmperorDune The problem is when adaptation involves real people. This is like "well, the marketplace of ideas will solve education". The thing is, these are children you're dealing and you can't just write it off as "well, we have to adapt".
White House Lawyer Ty Cobb will retire at the end of the month. He'll be replaced by Emmet Flood, who represented Bill Clinton during his impeachment.

Although written by intern at Politico, this article is a reminder of how difficult it can be to discuss public policy in political press. Not only did I not back down on tax cut, I doubled down & added detail for rationale https://politi.co/2w1EKmE
Or pick people who were already on the shortlist for reauthorization or something idk

lol there was a wapo piece a few days ago about how trump announces personnel changes before they are reasonably close to successful and that's why he keeps getting burned when they fall through
and of course they called it "fake news", and here they go again
I know that this borders on what we discussed earlier as "not news" but Matt Gaetz is the absolute worst US Representative and should get in the sea, so
GOP lawmaker shares photo of middle schooler flipping him off http://hill.cm/fvghdDY
Pathetic. Obama shouldn't have even won the prize, and you're out here trying to give it to the guy who backed out of even reporting civilian casualties of drone strikes
Ross Douthat was allowed to write an article again for some reason, but instead of linking to that please see:
Ross Dothan's NYTimes column about "The Redistribution of Sex" is a great example of why people who are not well-versed in sexuality as a field should not be writing about topics as fraught as incels and their violent demands of more sexual gratification from women.
I mean I guess Kanye might have agreed to it and just thought she'd come with but idk
It's all silly

Michael Caputo, just interviewed by Bob Mueller’s team, told me: “It’s clear they are still really focused on Russia collusion. ... They know more about the Trump campaign than anyone who ever worked there.” He didn’t want to discuss specifics
