To get back to the article I originally linked, I think Friedersdorf continues to make an interesting case that amplifying bad speech x1M, even to push back against it, may not be the wisest course or the best way to help people. I can definitely see why he may feel that way.

This room is a lovely giant echo chamber, and while that's okay in a sense, it does mean that we need to be aware of that. We talk a lot about other people not doing the legwork and spreading fake stuff, so if we're going to put ourselves as above all that....we need to make sure we actually are.
