well actually, the pupil doesn't have to be black, I guess it's just the color you're using rn doesn't seem to fit (looks like it's not saturated enough? or according to your source it's not dark enough)
@ASCII-only well catchlights in anime/manga drawing never really makes sense imo. they're generally on top-right-and-bottom-left, or just top-right, or a thin-line, or combination of those. Where ever the artist feel the best.
@EarlGrey idk, quick search says that they appear to generally be in the right place. maybe my problem is with the magatama shaped catchlight on the right then :P
I've thought about getting one. But I'm still not sure if that would be worth it because I myself don't know if I would continue drawing a few months down the line

Comments (DISCLAIMER: I have no idea what I'm talking about): 1. eyes are different 1a. dark shadow on right eye is lighter and smaller 1b. dark shadow on right eye is bigger 1c. right pupil is larger 1d. right eyebrow extends too far 1e. pupils are in different positions, i'd say right pupil is a bit too far left? 2a. braid thing looks too flat, imo still would even if it had shading 2b. hair on bottom right has weird extra lines and holes
@僕の彼女 3. i didn't mean shadow the catchlights, i meant shadow around catchlights. idk, might look better. also, catchlights are different shapes which doesn't make sense.
@僕の彼女 that's true. but not that different imo. from what i can see there are two light sources in the catchlights? so it's kinda believable that they're slightly different. probably.
one more thing although it won't matter if you're removing lines anyway: some of the lines on the hair look like they should be where the shadow starts instead

@Hakase Hiya. Are you still using the chatexchange.net lib? If so, just a quick heads up, the lib is going offline and is being replaced with a new lib soon-ish™ (within a couple of weeks hopefully). You might have already heard, but SE are deprecating their openid login in a few months; annoyingly, the old lib relied on that to auth, so the lib will be completely dead by that point.
btw pen tablets don't make it much easier on your hands than drawing with a mouse unless you train yourself to not strain your fingers
I have a bamboo tablet, I've tried drawing, it's long and painful if you don't know how to optimize it
take a look at what the pros are doing too, you might learn techniques to make everything faster and simpler
one thing learned that made it possible at all for me to draw is to draw at fuckin insane zoom levels so you don't need to care much about precision and strain your hand
drawing the final outlines over a rough sketch also helps
and keep a little "preview" window of the entire image so you know how it looks at 100% zoom
