@North Welcome! :-D

Thank you! Exactly what kind of stuff can you ask in a chat room?

Pretty much anything.
Chat has no rules for on-topicness, unlike the main site.
Nothing can be 'closed' here. The only real rule of chat is Be Nice.

Oh okay. Does anybody know if you lose priveliges by doing a bounty? Cause you know how your rep goes down?

If you fall below one of the privilege thresholds due to setting a bounty, then yes, you'll lose the associated privilege.

Hmmmm interesting

12:58 AM
@Randal'Thor Coincidentally, someone in TNB just claimed otherwise a couple of hours ago.

Whats TNB?

@EricTressler Linky?
@North The Nineteenth Byte, main chatroom for Programming Puzzles & Code Golf.

Ohhh sorry Im still kinda new

No need to be sorry! :-)

in The Nineteenth Byte, 3 hours ago, by dim
@Christophe Yes. I knew that already. Because I went past the 5000 (~6900) on codegolf, and went back to ~4500 because of the bounties I offered and still kept the privileges.
in The Nineteenth Byte, 3 hours ago, by Christopher
Though now I know that you keep 10k privileges if you drop back down :P

1:00 AM
There's lots of memes and acronyms and things which people not 'in the know' have to learn. But we were all new once!

Lol
That rebus posted by user_194421 is killing me.... I don't need the bounty, but its annoying that theres just one square left but its still unanswered.....

Nov 19 '14 at 10:32, by rand al'thor
Is this the place on Chat for discussing quality of questions and answers, whether certain kinds should be banned, etc. that's generated so much activity on meta?
^ even I was new once ;-)
@North Only one square left? I must have missed some progress then.
Which one? KBK?

No the integral of C
Some genius figured out that kbk was some kind of pairing
So what's figured out so far "Fully automated dis----"

A: Answer is three words forming a phrase (3rd of a rebus series)

Matt StevensMy guess at a full answer is; First line, per existing contributors as "Fully" Second line; . Third line, in part because it just seems to fit... First part "dis" as stated by earlier contributors. Even if it is wrong, I like the phrase :-)

Ah, nice!

I'm sad to realize that there are way too many ciphers beyond the range of my expertise.... I'm also pretty bad at rebuses in general, so I'm surprised I actually got close on one of the answers

1:13 AM
Well, I posted another try:

A: Answer is three words forming a phrase (3rd of a rebus series)

Rand al'ThorIs the final answer First line solved by ibrahim mahrir inspired by A.P.. Second line solved by Matt Stevens. Third line: Could be a stretch, but this seemed to be the best fit from among these possibilities:

Dunno if it's right.

Kinda seems a little out there....

seems like the best possible choice

True...
Until another best possible choice pops up
:( When you get 150 views on your cipher text but no upvote šŸ˜¢šŸ¤£šŸ˜†šŸ˜šŸ‘

The trick is to design your puzzle in an appealing way. For example, clickbait works puzzling.stackexchange.com/questions/59631/…

@thecoder16 Only if it's actually a good puzzle beyond the clickbait.
I was ready to downvote seeing the title... — Deusovi ♦ Jan 22 at 6:31

1:26 AM
well, yeah
clickbait inspired my recent puzzle

Q: This is not a puzzle!

thecoder16 This is not a puzzle!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thereā€™s nothing to solve here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not a puzzle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have i made myself clear??????????????????? Let me repeat..... $$$$ This IS NOT a puzzle! Have I MADE MYSELF clear? This IS NOT a puzzle! ...

Oh, that was yours?
Sometimes I forget who posted what :-P

We're here for the puzzles, no one cares who created them :P

Well, I often check a user's previous puzzles when trying to solve a new one. Sometimes you learn something about their style which helps you know how they think.

LOL best puzzle Ive ever see
I've seen way too many of though "ONLY A TRUE GENIUS" can do that clickbaits

@as4s4hetic @micsthepick Yo yo, yellowy guys arriving simultaneously.

1:35 AM
This is not a puzzle... I would've flagged that as spam just by the title though
Hello @as4s4hetic and @micsthepick. Welcome!

heya o/

What do you mean @Randal'Thor as "yellowy"?

Yellowy avatars.
Somehow similar usernames too.

Oh..

Clearly they're socks :-P

1:38 AM
"Yellowy" @Randal'Thor

@Randal'Thor your avatar contains traces of yellow... you know what this means... o.0

Deep flaming orange =/= bright banana yellow.

@thecoder16 you have more yellow on you

I'd hazard a guess that somewhere in the pixels of those two avatars one of the pixels is the same

Lol
I cant believe somebody would actually take a sudoku from Wikipedia with the answer right next to it and post it as a question

1:43 AM
wait what

Q: Sudoku puzzle #1

Puzzle101Please solve the following sudoku puzzle (from Wikipedia):

@Randal'Thor oh no I've been exposed :P

@as4s4hetic admit it, rand is also a sock right

I'm nobody's sock.
I may have a sock, but that's another story.

hey

1:48 AM
Whats a sock

@Randal'Thor Ah, that's the secret to having the highest rep on 3 different sites

Ohhh

@thecoder16 *2 :-)

ah, your sci-fi needs work :P

1:49 AM
Not a very subtle sock puppet name @rand

@Randal'Thor Of course you don't have a sock!

LOL

and where......?

@Alconja rumbled! :-D

did this fine person come from

1:49 AM

The true question is do you guys where socks
Wear
Okay dont answer that

@thecoder16 This is the only thing I've used my sock for so far: entertainment in chat.

so far

Lol
@Randal'Thor being roasted by @thecoder16

have there been any chat games recently?

1:52 AM
sadly no, but seeing as we're all here, who's in?

Not me: I'm going to bed shortly.

Sure

Oh wait were in different time zones thats right
How do you know im in california

1:53 AM

How do you play?

@North It's a reasonable guess given your timezone ;-)

I'm in the UK, so it's nearly 2am here.

Oh god

1:54 AM
@North The game rules are all in this meta post:

Q: What are these chatrooms with names like 'Codenames', 'Contact', and 'Spyfall'? What are they for?

MithrandirI see there are several rooms hosted on Puzzling on chat.SE that have strange, one-word titles, like: Contact Codenames Spyfall Zendo What are these rooms for?

Or you can just watch and learn!

I could be in some obscure town in Alaska

but you aren't, you just revealed yourself :P

Username checks out

lul
spyfall.crabhat.com/yrdpjq to join, and head to the spyfall room

 Spyfall

For playing the game Spyfall. Play using spyfall.adrianocola.com...

1:56 AM
@Randal'Thor What a coincidence - so am I.

@LewsTherinTelamon What a coincidence? Why don't you tell us more about yourself?

@thecoder16 I died turning myself into a mountain thousands of years ago, after slaughtering my entire family.
Now I live inside Rand al'Thor's head.

How's it up there?

It's crazy, man.

@LewsTherinTelamon You're crazy.

1:58 AM
@LewsTherinTelamon could you, i don't know, tinker with his head? :P

What do the Tuatha'an have to do with anything?

OK, time to drop the joke before it gets stale.
mutes @LewsTherin's voice to a distant buzz

@LewsTherinTelamon no, wait! tell me rand's password first! :P
rip

2:32 AM
I have to say I'm really unconvinced by the recently revealed bits of that rebus. "Fund", really? (A pile of money could be used as a fund, but it could also be used as a ransom, a bribe, packing material for a parcel, etc., etc.) And in what possible world does "mate" make any sort of sense?

well, kbk is a germany coupling company, somehow couple -> mate

I still dont get the whole integral stuff

have you gone through calculus yet?

Not even close
Im not even in Trig yet (thats all I'll reveal about my age)
AAAH MY LAPTOP IS TAKING FOREVER TO UPDATE
How am I supposed to hack Roblox šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”šŸ˜”
Okay jk i dont even know html

jk

3:34 AM
Waaaah Im telling my mommy
I'm so ticked. My computer takes two hours to update and then kicks me out

4:17 AM
@Randal'Thor if someone actually said they heard a puzzle from a friend, and then posted text that matched verbatim, including punctuation, a post from an earlier date elsewhere, I think my skepticism in the existence of said friend would be understandable. If they said they ā€œgotā€ it from a friend iā€™d be more inclined to add a cite if I found one, but hereā€™s the thing - whether it was done by the poster or not, plagiarism DID happen, and as Gareth noted, thatā€™s what we want to cull from the site.
because ā€œbroken windowsā€ if nothing else.

@Rubio correct, good job

5:04 AM
CCCC: Add sixth answer near end of key, perhaps. (6)

5:36 AM
@Rubio Long shot before I go to bed: (R [sixth answeR] + ENTER [a keyboard key])* = RERENT; "perhaps" is an anagram indicator, and the clue is &lit.
A person is an answer in the sense of "a thing or person that imitates or fulfills the same role as something or someone else."

heh. Not what I had in mind
... and fixed the C4 slightly to remove an unintended ambiguity

@Rubio I didn't expect that it was right, but I thought I'd take a stab at it. 'Night!

ENTER* would have been an indirect anagram and I don't (usually) do that. I've screwed up a couple of times on that, but this isn't one of those hehe
Good night

Sid
Morning.
@Rubio No, I completely understand. It was my fault in the first place to not double check the web

Q: A different circle

Radovan GarabíkInspired by this, but different. A woman is told to make a circle She makes this: Where is the woman? And where is she from? Hint: Hint2:

9:28 AM
@thecoder16 Ye-e-es, but it isn't really known outside its field. As A.P.noted, the first google results for my Germany-biased searches are a fashion discounter, an agency for artists, then the power-train company and the several finacnial consultants.
The coupling → mate thing is fishy at best. Why clue "mate" with an obscure company when there are more natural alternatives: mate in chess; a mate in the navy, mate the South American drink, whatever? And how does the green bar fit in? The hint for the middle says "The last g letters of an l-letter word."
I guess the confirmation was for the last line and the OP has lost track of the many answers. And I'm with Gareth on "fund".

10:06 AM
@thecoder16 I use my socks for experiments. *hair frizzes mad scientist style*
@North Nothing wrong with being young as long as you're within the age limit for the site... and if you're not don't say so :P

Sid
@North that is why never update

3:41 PM
What do you mean that's why it never updarws

4:21 PM
No, that's why you should never update

Sid

the joke is that updating is so tedious that you shouldn't bother

Oooooh

Q: Are Smart Enough to Solve This Rebus? Beat the Creator Challenge

NorthHere's a rebus. The answer is a supervillain from a video game. The answer will become obvious if you can solve the some of the boxes. Thereof, in order to be up voted, you must a) get the correct answer, b) give an explanation. I will upvote if it meets these criteria. I will accept partial...

Hey sphinx you spell "posting" wrong
You spelled it as "posing"
unless your an actual bot which I doubt

some people spell is as "posing" indeed, it's not wrong at all
and no, Sphinx is actually a feed

Seriously???
Wow StackExchange is quite advanced, I must say.

@North you should see our codenames bot :)
we've developed a nice site here

I saw already :)
Who did all this?

6:33 PM
well, ffao made most of the codenames bot, and the feed comes with most sites i think

Hmm noice
So who else is a codebot besides Sphinx?

note: bots are not the same thing as feeds, feeds are usually posted by bots with a negative user ID

@EriktheOutgolfer I have no idea what you just said

on chat there are some users with a negative ID

And a negative ID means...

6:37 PM
those are usually used for posting feeds, which is an automated procedure

Oh, I see

on the other hand, bots made by people are just regular users
so they have a positive ID

Aah
But bots are still automatic if Im getting at you correctly

bots are just regular users which read chat messages real-time and answer if they're supposed to (except that their owner is responsible for their behavior, not just them)
customized feed users are just a cool feature of chat

Ic

6:42 PM
i should learn the hacked chat.se api sometime

wait whats the codename bot

Hmmm
Anyone up for Spyfall?

I would've liked to play Spyfall too, but it technically needs at least 3 players

6:45 PM
we have 3

Yes Spyfall with two players
Spy automatically loses

unless

> Spy automatically loses

they guess location really quickly and ocrrectly

no, that's not always the case
what thecoder said above

6:46 PM
Yeah but whens that gonna happen?

so north how did you find puzzling.se

but if they guess the location then the game ends no matter what

Actually I found puzzling.se by accident
I made an account several days ago to ask a question about physics
And then I clicked puzzles by accident

oh nice

I guess I joined puzzles.se since then

6:48 PM
once you go puzzling you never go back

Yes

well, welcome then!

Thank you! Its nice to have a community of people with common interest...

yeah, i also kinda joined by accident

How?

6:49 PM
to be honest i don't really remember anymore

Lol

but i started on stackoverflow
then they question-banned me for asking noob questions

Hmm

but i had to learn somewhere, right

Nice
So whose up for spyfall? spyfall.crabhat.com/yrdpjq

6:50 PM
then i found here somewhere somehow'
it's a lot nicer more lenient community

@North that would be more on-topic in the spyfall room btw

Oh okay thank you

the reason is just that there it will be seen while here it might get lost

I see
I created the Spyfall btw so if anyone wants to play just meet me in the Spyfall chat room

Sid
@thecoder16 Puzzling is a hole you can never get out of. If you try, you will fall deeper. :P

6:59 PM
Lol
Okay wgose in Spyfall... Right mow theres literally two random people

7:17 PM
I'd love to play, though Spyfall is my last choice.

it's your only choice rn
but we know you'll not be the spy :P

Hello @ibrahimmahrir

Hmm, why does Spyfall always happen when I'm not around
I like being the spy

Q: What is a Reversible Numberā„¢

DqwertyCThis is in the spirit of the What is a Word/Phraseā„¢ series started by JLee with a special brand of Phraseā„¢ and Wordā„¢ puzzles, and the likewise inspired What is a Numberā„¢ series. If a number conforms to a special rule, I call it a Reversible Numberā„¢. If it doesn't, it might be an Irreversible N...

why can't I find the word perhaps in the CCCC archive
