1:06 AM
@Dennis optparse :P
Or startpoint for that matter

That's still using sys.argv under the hood.

1:34 AM
@Dennis could you add Wumpus to TIO? interpreter works the same as my other Ruby interpreters, and there's a HW in the examples folder.

Sure.

the first time since Labyrinth and Hexagony, that I managed to implement an esolang in two days. feels good man.

@NieDzejkob Could I bother you to host that somewhere so it can be downloaded from the setup scripts?

(still not quite as good as those two... I had the ideas for those the day before starting work on them... Wumpus has been brewing for over two years, I think.)

@MartinEnder Well, not exactly like the others. I kept trying to make interpreter.rb print something. :P

1:44 AM
oh, duh
yeah, I finally got those file names the right way round ;)

@Dennis Would this work: gist.github.com/pavelbraginskiy/…

Sure. I'd rather have the author have control over it though.
Or let them state that they don't want to. In that case, I'd add it to TIO's bf repo.
@Potato44 tio.run/#yash

@Dennis The esolangs page lists an official implementation by the actual author, at blog.trecio.cba.pl/index.php/2010/04/ooo-code/lang-pref/en

@totallyhuman tio.run/#qqq
@MartinEnder tio.run/#wumpus

yay thanks :D
I bet you've been getting spammed with requests because of tplq :P

1:51 AM
Not really, no.

2:07 AM
@EsolangingFruit tio.run/#momema
@Pavel The official interpreter uses a circular tape of 65,536 (signed? wtf?) 8-bit cells, so it would fit perfectly with TIO's bf family.

2 hours later…
4:06 AM
@Dennis thanks. How many shells does TIO have now?

4:52 AM
@Potato44 10 or 11, depending on if you count PowerShell as one or two shells.
Or 9, if you don't count Bean Shell.

1 hour later…
6:19 AM
@Dennis Can you add MUMPS?
in The Nineteenth Byte, 1 hour ago, by Mego
@DLosc TIO when :P

2 hours later…
8:42 AM
... people can just make a TIO link with the whole interpreter, like how I did with Unbalanced. For most minimal esoteric languages that's fine, and it works even for Jelly.

1 hour later…
9:46 AM
@user202729 We use this trick a lot in the polyglot, currently it includes 8 interpreters.

10:27 AM
@Dennis feel free to add this to the tio transpilers repository

@Dennis could you sync Wumpus please? I think I had the same output encoding bug as in Alice.

10:42 AM
Wumpus seems interesting :) At least its readme is very well designed.

Thank you. :) Still ironing out some creases before I announce it officially, but it's almost done.

I was just looking for a 2D language to learn, but none of them seemed particularly interesting to me... This one is intriguing :)

11:00 AM
@Mr.Xcoder Just made a change to how digits and # work, in case you already got that far.

Nope, didn't dive too deep yet. I've read the part about the structure of the program, but currently I'm implementing some flags for Triangularity, so reading the whole description might take a while.

no worries :)

@MartinEnder If I have questions about it, is there a dedicated chat room for it / your languages, or should I just ping you in TNB?

I generally use the esolangs room: chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/27364/… (except for my two bigger languages, Retina and Alice, those have dedicated rooms)

Ok cool, thanks

11:19 AM
@Dennis I'm done setting up the flags for Triangularity. Can you please pull it and enable Command-Line options? Thank you.

2 hours later…
1:12 PM
@NieDzejkob OK, I'll do that.
@MartinEnder Done.

thanks :)

@Mr.Xcoder I did, but it doesn't seem to support taking flags as options. tio.run/##KynKTMxLL81JLMosqfz/…
It works if I pass the flag as an argument. tio.run/##KynKTMxLL81JLMosqfz/…

1:28 PM
@Dennis Yeah, then just disable command line options and use arguments instead. My bad. Thanks

Alright. Done.

:-) Thanks

2:46 PM
@NieDzejkob tio.run/#ooocode
Fyi your transpiler only works if the code is at least two lines long. I don't know enough sed to understand why.
For example, this works if you append a newline.

3:45 PM
@Dennis Fixed. N was executing on the last line

2 hours later…
5:50 PM
OPAM refuses to install anything globally. :/

6:26 PM
Finally managed to install F* with OPAM, now I'm back where I was when I installed it from source.
Error: Unbound module Prims
I can't figure out how to compile anything in this language.

@Dennis By default it checks syntax only, you have to specify flags to tell it to transpile into OCaml or F#.

That error is from when I try to execute the generated OCaml file.

6:50 PM
Have you tried F#/Mono?

7:23 PM
Yes, earlier. Similar problems.
Apparently, I need a whole Makefile to compile a single source file. sighs

7:40 PM
Which includes two other Makefiles and refers to several parts of the F* repo. sighs
I'm giving up for now.

Oh well, that's fine
@Dennis wait, could you clone the repo into /opt, and set FSTAR_HOME?
Or is it too big

8:26 PM
@Dennis could you sync Wumpus, please?

@Pavel That's a good idea, but I already nuked everything. I'll give it another shot after eliminating some of the backlog.
@MartinEnder Done.

thanks :)

1 hour later…
9:38 PM
@Dennis Can you add Forked please? make to build executable interp
Requires no arguments except the filename
@Mego "again"?

Yes, DO did some maintenance on one of their hypervisors yesterday. When the arena came back up, Mathematica refused to start.
@MDXF You're missing the include for strcmp.
Also, Forked is an unimplemented WIP language. This repository just contains the spec. is blatantly false. :P
Also, how do I print Hello World?

@Dennis ...oops.
@Dennis one sec

9:58 PM
I tried making one, but I'm getting some unexpected results.
Ooh, - isn't subtract. That explains a lot.
Still, I can't figure out how to use the register.
@MDXF I got 89*@AA*i@7+@@3+@4B*@C'!99*6+!@3+@6'@8'@3B*!&.
If I knew how to use the register, it would probably be shorter.
Afaict they're not implemented at all.
You're using strcmp in main.c btw, so including string.h in forked.c doesn't help.

10:22 PM
I added -Wall and -Wextra to the Forked make file. It went well.
$ make 2>&1 | grep warning | wc --lines
24
That said, other than strcmp, they're all -Wunused-value.

10:49 PM

11:35 PM
luarocks is refreshingly easy to use.
Although the Fedora package should have had lua-devel as a dependency.

gem (Ruby) should also have ruby-devel as a dependency, but doesn't either.
