I tried to package the language I'm working on for copr so I wouldn't have to bug you for updates, but I gave up after two hours with no clue how to even create an rpm.

Everything that involves dnf actually makes updates harder, so don't worry about it.

Really? You'd think it doesn't get much easier than dnf update...

dnf update may break things (it has in the past) and is difficult to roll back, so I do it on a test server first, reboot it, run a full self test, and then execute a simple dnf update on the main server.
In contrast, pulling from some GitHub repo only modifies /opt/<language>, won't break anything (at least not accidentally), and is trivial to roll back.

Right, but you already do that anyway.

But definitely not every time you want your language pulled. :P

Hmm, CLion generated my project so that to build it you run cmake ., which creates a makefile, and then make, which produces the executable, and I don't know enough about either cmake or make to make that a one-step process.

1:45 AM
That's usually left as a two-step process.

Ah, everywhere else I've seen to use just make.
I've never actually seen a cmake project before >_>

If there's already a Makefile. If you need to run ./configure, cmake ., aclocal, or whatever to generate the Makefile, you do that first, then make.

@Dennis can you pull Pyt?

@mudkip201 Done.

Thanks

@Dennis could you please pull Ohm v2?

3 hours later…
5:43 PM
hey @Dennis can you add the package "Polynomial" to julia 0.6 on TIO?
if it gives you an error, cloning this into the pkgdir should work

6:45 PM
@Dennis Can you pull Cubically please?

7:01 PM
@NickClifford Done.
@MDXF Done.

Thanks! Just shaved hundreds of bytes off of a Cubically submission with that update :)

7:12 PM
@Riker The repo you linked to is named Polynomials. Pkg.add("Polynomials") works just fine, but Pkg.add("Polynomial") isn't supported in 0.6. Which is the one you want?

the former please
ty
but yeah I misread the name
is there a diff pkg for "polynomial"?

All I know is that there isn't one for 0.6.
Looks like Julia still lacks system-wide packages. sighs

@Dennis Could you pull Husk again?

7:27 PM
@Zgarb Done.

Great, thanks!

How can you lack system wide packages? I thought those normally happened first and the user packages happens potentially later?

@Dennis Can you pull MATL? I may have to ask again later, I hope not so. Context: New release of the language works in offline compiler, doesn't work in Suever's online compiler. Let TIO cast the deciding vote :-)

@LuisMendo Done.

How quick! Thanks
Fails too. That means there's a problem on my side. I'll try to solve it and ask you to pull again, sorry about that

No worries.

11:53 PM
@Dennis Apparently I failed to include one of the files in my commit. Can you pull again?

@LuisMendo Done.

Thanks! It's working now

Hooray!
