12:11 AM
well that's interesting
AS3.1C7 has no-background emulators

12:50 AM
@KazWolfe Is this the Technician exam?

1:06 AM
@Seth yep

@KazWolfe The entire question pool is public. Any practice tests you take will be using real exam questions.

still a concern that the rng will not fall in my favor on the actual test

err, where did my new tab button go?!
@KazWolfe yes, for sure. But it won't be because the actual test doesn't match the practice ones :)

fair nuff lol
just test nerves then
gonna try first on saturday
@Seth you have too many tabs open to allow for new tabs /s

@KazWolfe I'm sure you'll do great!
@KazWolfe I can still open them with Ctrl+T.. besides, when was there a tab limit? Or did I miss a /s tag?
right, of course ;)

1:15 AM
well... i'll do a few more tests between now and then but hopefully i'll be able to pass and finally get certified :D

1:50 AM
if ! ( [ -n "$1" ] || iwgetid | grep "$HOMESSID" )
I want my script to return true only if the first shell argument is not set and the SSID is not $HOMESSID
But I'm having trouble with this, some help needed

Yo.
How's everyone doing today?

My understanding of the shellthing I put down:
if starts conditional statement
! ( negates the stuff in parentheses
[ -n "$1" ] returns true if the first argument is not empty
|| is an OR conditional

@NathanOsman I think I'm started to get sick D:

iwgetid prints the network ssid with some formatting
| grep "$HOMESSID" expands $HOMESSID and searches the previous command for it
) ends it
Anything I got wrong?

@Seth My brother seems to have come down with something nasty too.
I was sick just before Christmas.

2:00 AM
I got it to work by negating the second conditional, but I have no understanding of why that worked
Or why I needed to negate it in the first place

Q: Why have two users Thomas and Thomas Ward?

zixuanI want to know why have two users, Thomas and Thomas Ward? is there a different people but username almost same?

4:09 AM
@KazWolfe You'll do fine! And remember, you're allowed to use a calculator. My proctor also let us bring one page of written notes.

@Seth a page?!
oh god this test will be nothing then.
think they'll let in my nspire?

@KazWolfe It's been a while, so my memory may not be on point, but that's what I remember.
Your proctor may be slightly different, so be sure to ask.

will do
they dont allow walkins anyways so...

@KazWolfe Not sure. Probably depends on the person in charge. The math for the tech exam isn't really anything worse than 3 digit division tho so it shouldn't be a big deal

yeah. i've already had the majority of the electrical formulas engraved into my head
and provided all the practice tests seem to be 80% electricity formulas and common sense...

4:13 AM
@KazWolfe What site are you using?

ARRL's official practice thingy

@KazWolfe Ah, you should be good then.
Btw, I'd advise you not to join the ARRL. Recently it's been all infighting, power grabbing, and politics.

some of the answers are... very dumb.
@Seth oh? sounds like my kinda game lol
I mean, what's the point of joining the ARRL?

4:37 AM
@KazWolfe They help organize the hobby and lobby
It's certainly not necessary.

So. My bedroom lamp is now controlled by my Raspberry Pi.
I have a button next to my bed to turn it on and off.
And it runs a lightweight HTTP server with a button for turning it on and off as well.

but does it have hassio integration?

Not yet. Whatever that is.

Q: Can't mount Ubuntu iso to hardrive partition

loremIpsum1771I've been trying to dual boot my new laptop (Dell XPS 15 9560) with Windows and Ubuntu. I've done this process before on my Lenovo with no issues using the process outlined in this video so I tried to use the same process with my dell laptop. I first partitioned my hardrive by deallocating 30 G...

ArcticoolingI've installed Debian stable 9.3 server for an Nginx server environment, and I want to upgrade it daily in cron with: 0 0 * * * apt-get update -y && apt-get upgrade -y My system is minimal and uncustomized: It's a VPS to run a webserver with only these ports open: 22, 80, 443, 9000. So. I am nearly deaf from accidentally piping an MP3 file to aplay.

Max HollmannWhenever I reboot my laptop, everything runs amazingly and I have a maximum of 40% memory usage (out of 8GB). However over time (~ 1 day of usage), memory usage goes up to 90%+, and the system starts swapping. Right now, free -mh returns this: total used free sh...

Q: IP Configuration (Ubuntu 14.04)

ShaneI have moved to a new server and was given a /29 IP block with it. I have never had more than one IP per server, so I am having a little trouble getting things sorted out and was wondering if I could get some help/advice. Here is what I have assigned to me. @Seth right click -> customize

@Mateo thx. I found it sometime late last night.
Took me like 3 tries before I saw it in that menu though lol

seems you can remove it accidentally
but you can't remove the new overflow menu...

I love how Tor has an "open in private window option"

Anyone know of an alternative to Sparkleshare for syncing github repos?
Sparkleshare was working smoothly at first, now it's no longer doing anything :/

Sharklespare?

And RabbitVCS is... confusingly confusing.
@TheWanderer yes

read it again

9:33 PM
lol
So... anyway, if anyone knows a sync client for github, let me know.
I'm really not fond of manual commits for the moment.

9:52 PM
I just found out the problem may not be with Sparkleshare

you mean like a git GUI program Roland?

@Seth kinda sorta, but really just something that pushes commits in the background like Sparkleshare does. But I may not need it after all
The issue might actually lie with the repo, since we had a couple power outages yesterday.

Well that escalated quickly xD

user136984
Sorry...

user136984
:D

user136984
10:07 PM
Nothing to see here...

I'm actually doing the opposite :D
(Don't worry, only mods will know what I'm referring to)
(because we can read the delete msgs)

user136984
An in joke, yes. :D

user136984
Ooh, I'm a bit hot...

user136984
That was a little embarrassing.

man's not hot

user136984
10:09 PM
Fine, hideous and sweaty! :P

user136984
I think it's got more awkward now especially as nobody knows what I originally said (apart from you). :D

@RolandiXor >_>

user136984
@TheWanderer: You disagree?

AAAAGHHHHH bloody hell postman

you don't get his reference @ParanoidPanda

10:12 PM
I really do have a love/hate relationship with you.

sounds like me and Gradle

user136984
@TheWanderer: Ok

user136984
So I was right, it is getting embarrassing.

user136984
@KazWolfe: I might do some part-time work as a postman. Just to, you know, walk around a bit and lose some weight.

Oh, because why not. If any of you like really hard puzzles and whatnot, have a random site I found called AE27FF. Disclaimer: I don't run it, but I do play on it regularly.
@ParanoidPanda postman as in the app.

user136984
10:13 PM
Ok :D

user136984
I don't know what that is.

user136984
But I prefer the original.

user136984
I like writing letters.

user136984
Or sending cheese through the post and seeing if it melts.

postman is a CURL gui pretty much

user136984
10:14 PM
Ah, I see.

user136984
Good so it's actually useful in some way then.

Alright I'm .bk
@ParanoidPanda lol google it
it's not the viral hit that it became, but it is kinda funny

user136984
Ah! Haha!

user136984
:D

user136984
I didn't hear about that.

user136984
10:21 PM
Which is strange because I do like read the BBC every day.

user136984
But I only get the depressing front page headline stuff I guess.

I only heard about it because almost every meme at the end of 2017 was based on it

user136984
Right

user136984
Don't know anything about memes or where to fish for there so...

user136984
:D

user136984
10:22 PM
Would have missed that one!

user136984
Is there some sort of "Meme Pool" you all star into or something?

user136984
Or are you all boring with your graphical RSS feeds? :P

user136984
RSS feeds are terrible! I hate them!

RSS is amazing.

user136984
Especially when a company like NASA makes me use them rather than just having a bog standard Newsletter!

10:23 PM
RSS lets my computer check web content instead of making me go to nine websites. So, I like it.
Granted, it would be better if those sites sent me an email, but I don't want more emails.

user136984
Well, it would be better I guess if I ever figured out how to get the software to work. Or at least had some software, I don't want to always be going to some website to check my feeds.

And I sure as hell am not enabling desktop notifications. Sites abuse that too much.

user136984
I guess it's useful.

user136984
If you can actually get it working.

thunderbird does a very good job for me

user136984
10:25 PM
Is there not a just a lightweight program I can get that doesn't do anything else? Thunderbird's a bit clunky if I don't need to the rest of it.

i just wish there was a way to sync read between things with thunderbird. there are better apps, but i use thunderbird anyways, so...

user136984
Ok

user136984
Thanks anyway I guess. :)

user136984
Got to go and eat my dinner though so...

@ParanoidPanda I get a lot of memes on Facebook

10:36 PM
hm.
what do you all use for your email clients?
i need something to replace rainloop because of dumb things

good morning

@KazWolfe Thunderbird, but it bugs me so much I'm moving to mutt.

seems interesting, but I don't have time right now and will likely forget about it again...

> All mail clients suck. This one just sucks less.
;)

11:07 PM
@muru I think they just can't speak English

@TheWanderer Do you understand this?

nope
@Seth now a DC series has people from Supernatural

user136984
Back from dinner.

user136984
That was nice.

user136984
But now I'm going to bed as it's getting late so goodnight folks! :)

11:21 PM
@ParanoidPanda Good night.
@TheWanderer Yeah, I also think they think it's more like a forum with voting, so they repeat parts of other people's answers (those answers have since been deleted) like it's no problem, as it generally wouldn't be on a forum.

sigh
guys what should I name my app
it's adding widgets to the second screen on the V10 and V20

Some Random App

LG calls the screen the SignBoard
I was thinking BoredSigns or something

11:39 PM
@TheWanderer How about Board de Sign? Or Bored de Sign, if you want…

meh..
