Really Got to Go.

7:24 PM
Question: How do I view questions that I've closed?

@HyperNeutrino it's actually a site-wide policy to censor titles, so you did the right thing I think
people didn't like the uncensored title appearing in HNQ

Ah okay. I did it because I wouldn't want a parent to be looking at a teen's computer when they open codegolf and see that word and ban their child from using codegolf; I'd hate to cause people to be unable to use codegolf :P But also I think it's better to give people an option to not see that word :P

A: Profanity in hot questions list

Shog9There's precious little value and plenty of potential harm from scattering vulgar language across the sidebars of the entire network. Not only does it irritate people, the titles also get indexed in search results as part of the pages they're linked from - we've gotten complaints from folks who f...

Hm. Lol

what does munge mean

7:33 PM
Mung or munge is computer jargon for a series of potentially destructive or irrevocable changes to a piece of data or a file. It is sometimes used for vague data transformation steps that are not yet clear to the speaker. Common munging operations include removing punctuation or html tags, data parsing, filtering, and transformation. The term was coined in 1958 in the Tech Model Railroad Club at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1960 the backronym "Mash Until No Good" was created to describe Mung, and a while after it was revised to "Mung Until No Good", making it one of the fir...

Why is TNB prioritized over Google 0.o

Because the bots that communicate over TNB with the weird human users are better programmed than Google and have a better AI. I mean, we're humans. Definitely. We're totallyhuman

@HyperNeutrino Where did you get that information, you weren't supposed to know that

@StepHen You mean I wasn't supposed to give that away. I mean, sorry, no, that's definitely not true.

7:36 PM
I am the most human

@HyperNeutrino Now you will have to be terminated politely requested to leave

If you feed me invalid statements, bugs in my coding may cause me to be terminated.

@HyperNeutrino You can view your close votes on the votes tab on the activity tab on your profile

@totallyhuman And yet you're only half human... Oh wait, that's just your designer being stupid, right? :P
@EinkornEnchanter Oh, thanks.

yes
that darn designer

7:37 PM
@HyperNeutrino if (f===f) { f() } else { f = function(f) { f() } }

Well RIP, I can't view the close-votes from my past account, so I only have 6 CVs :P
@StepHen ReferenceError: 'f' is not defined

well it's javascript, it'll find its way around that somehow

Uncaught ReferenceError: f is not defined

stack = Infinity; if (f!==f) { f() } else { f = function(f) { f() } }

@StepHen ReferenceError: 'f' is not defined

console.setOutputMessage("If you feed me invalid statements, bugs in my coding *will* cause me to be terminated.")
console.calc("hahah" * SyntaxError)

7:44 PM
That works in JS. lol

console.log("Success"); console.setOutputMessage = s=>window.close();
console.setOutputMessage("The winning move is not to play.")

uh oh did somebody break step hen

Warning: Scripts may only close windows that were opened by it

inb4 step hen suggests clear(this) and hyper neutrino plugs it in

Console was cleared

7:48 PM
console.log("Another.")

while(1);

for(let i = 0; i < 1000000; i+=1) { window.open(); }

@dzaima Loop counter exceeded maximum; terminated
@StepHen window.open is not a function
I removed it from my coding to prevent people from doing things like that (•◡•) /s

@HyperNeutrino for (let i = 0; i < 1; i += .00001) console.log("(•◡•)");

hehe

7:51 PM
@StepHen Loop counter exceeded maximum; terminated

@HyperNeutrino console.log(this)

Also happens to work.
That just logs window, doesn't it? :P

@HyperNeutrino console.log(this.diacritics)

Ooh. Interesting.

console.log(this.GENERIC_ERROR)

7:53 PM
@StepHen "An error occurred performing this action"
(f=function(){f();})();

@HyperNeutrino Maximum call stack size exceeded

(f=function(f){f(f);})(f);
Doesn't make a difference but lol.

there were some backticks

@dzaima console.log("Use four spaces")

I have one what will break all of your coding.
firewall.ban('https://*.stackexchange.com/*')

@HyperNeutrino Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected identifier; DEFCON = DEFCON_4; this.army.getReady(); this.nuclearCodes.decode()

console.log("War Operation Plan Response is a go. Global Thermonuclear War will commence soon.")

Do you want to take this to another room before we all get trashed?
:P

@HyperNeutrino Prolly

lol that may be a first

<insert look of disapproval>

Why is that room starred?
Shouldn't you star the other room? :P

console

8:13 PM
Hmm
Once again out of things to do that don't involve mental effort

What IE ver. didn't have console.log again?

8:27 PM
@HyperNeutrino hey, can you look over my docs and tell me how good they are? github.com/stestoltz/cQuents

Jim
Hi guys

Hello.
@StepHen Looks pretty good :)

Jim
Do you think that this challenge is ready for posting?

@Jim Looks fine to me, good job on four ups in 2 days

Q: Challenges about interpreting arbitrary invented languages

HyperNeutrinoThis is a discussion about this challenge: Make an interpreter for my new esolang InSpace It creates a new language and asks for an interpreter for it. It was originally closed as unclear because OP did not specify many things well. OP has now clarified it so that it is clear what it is asking ...

@NewMetaPosts Took you long enough >.<

Some day, the day will come, when people finally stop complaining about the feeds.

nevaaaaaaaah

Sure, when they stop being slow.
The Twitter feed in talk still didn't pick up my tweet from 18 hours ago...

8:56 PM
@HyperNeutrino Well anyway now I need something else to get distracted on, my teeth aren't going to get better anytime soon

@StepHen Your teeth?

@HyperNeutrino or lack thereof

Oh right.
You're a chicken. lol

@Downgoat it's sparkling water

@Poke some homeopathic thing that my mom bought
It's harmless and useless
Literally sugar pills

@Mendeleev I believe the word is "placebo"

@StepHen I guess
also I just noticed the pun in your username

@Mendeleev :P it's a little more interesting than "Stephen S"

I hope I don't hit the rep cap before midnight...

Why not?

oh hey @BetaDecay is back

9:31 PM
brb installing Arch Linux on my new SSD

9:41 PM
Can someone tell me something I can do that doesn't involve any mental effort?

nothing

@totallyhuman Done that already

Jim
@LegionMammal978 CMC: Given an input string "3a2bc4de", expand the string to "aaabbcdddde"

@Jim Mathematica, 14 bytes: "aaabbcdddde"&

Jim
@LegionMammal978 The string was an example

9:44 PM
> Given an input string "3a2bc4de", expand the string to "aaabbcdddde"
Indeed, if you pass "3a2bc4de" in, it will output "aaabbcdddde"

Jim
@LegionMammal978 I mean that you should take the string as argument

@Jim what if 10a etc

Jim
@betseg "10au12w2e" -> "aaaaaaaaaauwwwwwwwwwwwwee"

@Jim pyth: r

@Jim can the number be 0

Jim
9:51 PM
@Downgoat Not correct

"11a"?

Jim
@betseg No it cannot

"12a"?

Jim
@ZacharyT "11a" -> "aaaaaaaaaaa"

"22a"?

Jim
9:54 PM
@ZacharyT The general rule is that for the number n and the character c, nc gives n times c

uhm why are you asking the same question over and over again

Can c be a digit, is what I'm asking.

@ZacharyT No

General reminder: please submit nominations for necro of the month.

hi
What's going on, TNB?

@StepHen i see

That is what WAS going on. Now I killed python interpreter, so everything's died down.

@Jim You're right! But fortunately, fixing that actually saves a byte: Try it online!
That answer is cool, cause it uses a new feature to save one byte

Q: Do we want an xkcd tag?

Beta Decayxkcd is referred to often on PPCG, with at least 47 questions which are based on concepts or directly related to the xkcd webcomic. Therefore, is it worthwhile introducing an xkcd tag to group all of these challenges together?

^ Yes.

Olivier GrégoireCount bytes like a Java golfer Java is verbose, everybody knows that. Sometimes, here on PPCG, it happens that a Java answer is shorter than 60 characters, but most of the time it's longer, way longer! And the Java golfers here often post improvement suggestions in comments. Alas, the PPCG webs...

@Jim In many such cases, & or | will work. I like keeping ; how it is, personally, except maybe outside of all lambdas
