@amWhy Thank you very much! Yes, I will be a fourth year undergrad, effectively. It happily means that all I have left are math courses for my major. I am taking 5 at once Fall Semester if I remember correctly! Life generally goes well too; just got back from a road trip to see the East Coast of the USA. Trip went fantastically. How have you been?
I've been doing well. "Off" teaching-duty this summer, but I'll be supervising two undergrads on each of theirs independent studies. But the pace is much slower (for me), which I've enjoyed thus far in June.
@BrevanEllefsen I'm paid a salary, which covers my throughout the year. I hope to plug away at a bit of research. I really enjoy supervising independent studies, etc. And I prefer them in the summer, because I'm not distracted by committee duties, and classes to teach, and seminars...And it's a great opportunity for the undergrads to feel what collaboration feels like...I'm kind of Socratic, so there's a lot of contact time.
@amWhy I can only hope to be in the same position someday :) I've always found Socratic methods to be my favorite way to learn, especially those with a large amount of peer-interactions. Perhaps it stems from my love of self-study? My favorite story about Socratic learning has to be Paul Erdos, who found a few other friends and secretly met to discuss all manner of ideas throughout his youh, which he later attribute to much of his early love for mathematics.
@amWhy out of curiosity, why was this chat locked and quid was kicked?
