@steelersquirrel What does that have to do with the tag search?

12:14 AM
@DrRDizzle with
Ah, it's back! \o/

@NapoleonWilson Because I was looking in Music fans SE in their history tag.

Ah, meesa be sees.

When I am on this stupid IPad, it kicks me out of chat if I am inactive after like 5 minutes ;-(

@NapoleonWilson Did you just call me "it"? ;)

12:26 AM
@steelersquirrel Oh, I meant that cute little happy squirrel that has been running around here. ;-)

YAY! John Hurt challenge!!!
@NapoleonWilson You can call me Pennywise "It" if you want to ;)

So is Koba actually the same asshole ape from that animal home in the first film that was lead by Draco Malfoy?
@steelersquirrel Awww, no. I'll call you "she" when it matters. ;-)

Whatever floats your boat, babe ;)
@NapoleonWilson Yes. I believe so.
I am not familiar with the newer movies as much as I am with the original Charlton Heston ones, though. I have only seen them all one time.

I see.

@AJ CONGRATULATIONS ON WINNING YOUR FIRST CHALLENGE!!! OMG!!! <confetti falls from ceiling> You know that you need to make a speech now!! ;)
I even had "sex" in the title of one of my questions. Pfft!

12:32 AM
well I read "I even had sex!" and was like "uhhhhhh what did the squirrel do this time"
>_>

@Riker Hahaha! Are you still buzzed from Ibuprofen?

nah

A J
@steelersquirrel Thanks. Gotta prepare speech.

Yay!
@AnkitSharma You can ask your V for Vendetta questions now! Dammit! If only I had known that John Hurt was going to die, I would have saved the questions that I just asked ;)

Acceptance Speech
I'd like to thank Ankit for suggesting the topic and Steelersquirrel and Ankit for encouraging me to participate. I'd also like to thank DrRDizzle and Walt for answering my question that I had in my mind for last one month. And the last, but not least, I am grateful to Napoleon for sponsoring the challenge. :-)

12:49 AM
NICE!
You didn't put "beloved" before Napoleon's name like I did, though :P
It's so weird to me that I get upvotes on stuff from like 2015 and they're not even on the front page or anything.
And on a site that I have even boycotted!

which one?

SE History.

I just got 2 upvotes on my first SFF Q (like 1 out of 3 ever)
it's from like 2015

Q: Can Weeping Angels still move while they are stone?

Eᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏ IʀᴋIn the DW episode Flesh and Stone, the weeping angels are shown to turn to stone when nobody's looking. This is when Amy is trying to find the doctor with her eyes closed. The weeping angels turn to stone when they see amy. But then when they realize she can't see them, they start to move. ...

Weird!

but yeah, it's only a meh question
I think the second one was because it was bumped because I changed the accepted answer
but the first vote prompted me to do that
shrug

1:06 AM
Well, it could be like SE History and tell you that you're not likely to get an answer to your question...
@steelerfan that's my point. If the guy's own name is in dispute, there's practically no hope of tracing him to anything. Your research on the topic would be as good as anybody else's here. — setobot5000 Sep 30 '15 at 0:37

Q: Topic Challenge: John Hurt and his films

Napoleon WilsonJanuary 27th saw the death of renowned actor John Hurt who looked back on more than 50 years of acting. So in honour of him and due to popular demand we're starting a new topic challenge. From 2017-01-30 00:00 UTC to 2017-02-05 23:00 UTC we're challenging you to all your great questions about Joh...

@setobot5000 Well, since this is a site dedicated to history, I was posting this question to inquire if anyone else happened to be more knowledgeable on the subject. Isn't that why users post on SE sites? — steelersquirrel Sep 30 '15 at 0:40
That was my last post on that frigging site.
@Riker Hey!!! I asked a question about that episode, too!!!
It even hit HNQ!

@Walt Will you be participating in the John Hurt challenge? ;)
<feeble attempt to get Walt to ask a question>

@steelersquirrel Yeah, that's what I wonder.

HFS! John Hurt was in A Man for all Seasons! OMG!!!! I totally forgot about that!!!!
@AJ I could easily put together a few questions on that movie...there are so many ;)
I would check over at sci-fi and see if there have been any questions about that movie over there.
Nope!
I could have swore that I saw some questions about that movie over here...

Oh, nice! Already +9!
I broke a new record on research time on an answer on the Rand's question that I answered. The most that I have ever spent researching a question was about 8 hours over on SE History. 3 hours for SE literature on an answer. And about 48 hours on researching a question over here, but I still didn't find an answer. If I ever answer it, that would be the new record for Ixrec's Pulp Fiction question.

@steelersquirrel Yeah, that doesn't really seem to be what realism is for, we need to clean that tag up a little at some point.

@NapoleonWilson Well, what about the reference one?

3:06 AM
@steelersquirrel Hmm, doesn't seem like a good idea either. I...I don't know.

@NapoleonWilson Gheez. Do you know anything? ;)

Awwww. Cheer up, buttercup!
OMG. Do ya think that there are enough symbolism questions about Animal Farm over on literature? "What does the piece of dirt in the barnyard represent?" :P
I'm tempted to ask the obligatory "What does the white whale represent" in Moby Dick ;)

3:21 AM
@steelersquirrel Awww, hehehe!
@steelersquirrel Like this? ;-)

@NapoleonWilson OMG! I answered that? WUUUUUT?! Well, it wasn't about Moby Dick, though ;)

Heh! I didn't even notice! Duh!

@steelersquirrel wow you like that film too

I even got a bounty on it...even though it wasn't frigging accepted!
@AnkitSharma I love that movie!

@Walt I have time to give those bounties, will do it from office
@steelersquirrel me too, I heard that it have 2 unrelated trashy sequels too

3:32 AM
I have answered 5 questions of Napoleon's. None of which have been accepted. It's all becoming clear now. I see how it is.

@steelersquirrel I will ask something for sure
@steelersquirrel lol

:P
Well, I have actually only answered 3. My sister answered 2 of them using my account.
@AnkitSharma I haven't even heard about the sequels!

@steelersquirrel k
@steelersquirrel he should accept those two, never mess with in-laws ;)
Someone placed bounty on my question O.o

@AnkitSharma Hehe! She wouldn't even know, anyways ;)

@steelersquirrel Me neither.

@AnkitSharma Wow. They're asking a lot for a bounty of only +50 ;)

Let's hope so.

@steelersquirrel yup

John Hurt was only in three Harry Potter movies

That's enough ;)

I will ask from V for vendetta hopefully, anyway I don't remember full options yet
@steelersquirrel that is hot topic for Star Wars too :D

@AnkitSharma Didn't watch any of his movies except Harry Potter and Skeleton Key. I don't have any question from both movies because I watched them long ago and don't have intentions to watch again.

@NapoleonWilson night!
are you leaving me with a hyper squirrel how could you do this :P
@steelersquirrel don't worry idc I'm just mildly buzzed from life today

@Riker There's even a close vote on it?

yep
next time they should probably check meta >_>
@steelersquirrel I atcually think the close vote is due to some salty people closing every scifi/fantasy question
some people think we shouldn't allow them because "SFF is better for that stuff"

That's okay. Pretty much every ID question over here has close votes on it ;)

lol
my response is more of "how do you expect to get better at it if you don't practice <inserts shia la beouf link>"

@Riker I thought meta wasn't particularly decided on ID stuff yet.

4:31 AM
iirc it was in favor of allowing them I thought
even if it is sstill being decided, you shouldn't vtc while it's being decided <shrug>

@Riker Um, yes, you should. Isn't that how it's decided?
It's private beta afterall.

it's not decided by votes on meta?

@steelersquirrel not every
@Riker really O.o

ye, it's pretty dumb logic

Anyway, I'd just hesitate to call close-voters "salty" from the getgo.

4:32 AM
@AnkitSharma "pretty much" every ;)

But I haven't looked at that question yet.

@Riker decision was let the fire burn the jungle, will see later

@NapoleonWilson the salty wasn't about ID
it was about the scifi crossover
@AnkitSharma ah ok

@Riker I know, I didn't say it was.

Chanandler BongRecently I was rewatching Love Actually in TV and before it started a warning appeared: This movie contains stroboscopic effects. @AJ okay

I watched Batman Begins for the first time in about 5 years last night. It's better than I remember overall, but that first act is pretty bad.
Also, in retrospect, it's amazing how liberally Man of Steel cribbed from Batman Begins.

@DrRDizzle uhuunnnnn

@AnkitSharma I think it's pretty obvious that it's the only one of the Dark Knight trilogy that was written by David S. Goyer. It's really clunky in places.
(Also, Nolan's inability to film action is really apparent in Batman Begins, especially when compared to more modern superhero films)

@DrRDizzle mayeb you are looking for cool Michael Bay effect which was not there and not even needed :P

9:20 AM
@AnkitSharma No no, I mean just like the hand-to-hand fight scenes.

To me all three of nolan's batman film worked for me. There is no other satisfactory superhero trilogy for me.
Sam Raimi did it too but 3rd one had way many issues and I balme sony for it

Captain America trilogy?

@DrRDizzle 1st didn't worked for me and 3rd one was cool looking forgettable fun

@AnkitSharma Fair enough.
It is a little odd that despite the amount of superhero films there are, there are very few that hold together as cohesive trilogies.
Even the Dark Knight trilogy, I feel. Like, the best film in that trilogy - The Dark Knight - basically works as a standalone film anyway.

Blade trilogy was bleh, Iron man 1 was good and RDJr was always good but the sequels were not as good , sony ruined spider-man 3, Hellboy stopped after 2nd, fortunately Ghost rider filmseries is over

Anyway Jared Leto is spotted with supposidily green hair in a pic, maybe tehre is more on the plate

@AnkitSharma Ugh, I hope not.
@AnkitSharma I don't think that's the only reason that The Dark Knight stands above the other two films. It's got a better plot, its themes are better realised, Aaron Eckhart is great as Harvey Dent, the action is significantly better...

Ufffff I can't stand that opinion

Doesn't everything slow down and he throws knives and they make the V symbol as they go through the air?

But your top pic from wachoskis is cloud atlas and that explain everything

Cloud Atlas is a beautiful film.

@DrRDizzle so you wanted Graades

10:54 AM
Graades?

Ur weird opinion made my brain freeze
Cloud atlas was beautiful mess.

It wasn't a mess. It defied a bunch of narrative conventions and made the rules up as it went along, but it wasn't a mess.
Everything ties into everything else.

I haven't seen a good Ankit/Dizzle argument in a while! This is awesome :P

I am not the only one who thinks that and I did said it had good potential
But I can't say it as there best directed film
And v for vendetta was far far better, it's a issue if u want bullets in sword fight
V was supposed to be like zorro not iron man

My problem isn't that I wanted a gun fight instead of a sword fight or anything like that. My problem is the action (as I remember it) was really cheesy and mostly bad.
