@Randal'Thor: No, RosieF mentioned its nothing more than a personalized magic square in the chat.

The parker square is still the best magic square :P

user189275
Why ?

@Randal'Thor would the link in this answer be considered promoting or no?

@dcfyj I'm not sure. Here's the SE guidance (not tailored to Puzzling, btw) on self-promotion. The answer is relevant and useful, but as far as I can tell, the link isn't. Dunno if it's worth taking action on though, like editing out the link.

7:15 PM
The link he posted I think falls correctly under "...**Don't include links except to support what you've written.** Links are not a substitute for including information in your answer itself, and links should always be directly relevant to a part of your answer. See also: Your answer is in another castle: when is an answer not an answer?..."

@ArbitraryKangaroo No, why?

user189275
@Randal'Thor: Then what's the point of blocking you if you promote a non profit riddling website ?

user189275
I don't find any sane reason.

@ArbitraryKangaroo Don't ask me, ask the PSE mods :-)
But whether any profit is made is irrelevant to whether SE considers a post spam.

How does the Stack system make money?

user189275
7:18 PM
@Randal'Thor: Then why users who mentions quipqiup or even google regularly isn't banned ? More seriously, google is not non profit

user189275
@BeastlyGerbil: From ads ?

@BeastlyGerbil Careers on StackOverflow, for example.
They provide a service there.

@ArbitraryKangaroo Because they're not the owner/writers or those websites? :P

Hmmm, they must get some extra funding from somewhere though

Q: How does Stack Overflow, Meta Stack Overflow, etc. make money?

WikisHow do Stack Overflow and the rest of Stack Exchange sites stay up? Someone has got to pay for the infrastructure and people's wages. So how do these sites make money? Is it purely through advertising? (I'm not looking to copy it! :) I'm just amazed that such a great system works for free!)

7:20 PM
Damn it I could have had 106 upvotes if I had joined earlier...

Spam on SE is only when you're not actually contributing anything. If you want to share a link, it's fine as long as 1) it's relevant, 2) you add a disclaimer in case you are part of the linked service.

@BeastlyGerbil You were too young to be allowed on SE in 2010 ;-)

I'm sure there are more in depth answers on Meta SE though.

user189275
@LukasRotter: What's the proof that you're not Larry Page nicknamed Luckas Rotter ? (I'm joking of course; But banning non profit website is completely nonsesense; isn't it ?)

@ArbitraryKangaroo Let's say somebody set up a not-for-profit website or service and started spamming links to it all over SE. That would still be promotional content, whether or not they make money out of it.

7:22 PM
@ArbitraryKangaroo Damn it, you just blew my cover :( So by now I'm Lukas, Will and also Larry. Nice. :P

user189275
@Randal'Thor: I bet quipqiuip is more mentioned here that RD.

user189275
@LukasRotter: See, isn't I very clever ? From the beginning, I was sure that you was Page. It's completely trivial too see.

3 mins ago, by Lukas Rotter
@ArbitraryKangaroo Because they're not the owner/writers or those websites? :P

user189275
Does the promotional content get more ad if exactly same stuff is told by owners instead of users ? Completely nonsense, atleast I see no point.

7:35 PM
@Randal'Thor I didn't know there was an age limit!

@ArbitraryKangaroo Sure, they'd get the same amount of eyeballs either way. But "look at this cool website someone else made" is much more likely to be posted because the poster actually thinks it's a useful/interesting website than "look at this cool website I made".
:32839037 What are the guidelines for marking an answer as community wiki? (answer by yours truly - on another site, but most of it is still true across all of SE)

user189275
@Randal'Thor: You can see deleted chat psots ?

A: How do I use Stack Exchange if I'm under 13 years old?

Adam DavisHow do I use Stack Exchange if I'm under 13? Unfortunately, children under 13 are not allowed to sign up for Stack Exchange accounts. If you are under 13, and are trying to participate, first off, we're sorry. It's awesome that you're already trying to help others learn, and it's frustrating to ...

@ArbitraryKangaroo Yep :-)

7:50 PM
Well I'm over :P
It was 5 days after my 13th when I joined :P

user189275
@BeastlyGerbil:Which year ?

This year

I was well over when I joined haha. I pretty much don't even think about age limits anymore.

I've only been on this site for 9 months

Apparently the maximum age is 96, there are tons of PSE users of this age (they were completely honest, of course), but nothing above that. :P
What a terrible way of telling me how old I look :P

7:56 PM
What about youngest?

@BeastlyGerbil Nothing below 13, obviously. Only 7 in the list. :P

user189275
@LukasRotter: Where are you finding it ?

There I am :P

@LukasRotter You should've sorted by Age, User link instead of by Age :P

user189275
8:01 PM
I am 14, but it's showing 15. Strange.

Probably put your dob in wrong

I didn't find me in there hehe
anyhow, I'm off for now.

@dcfyj I actually did that in the first draft, but then I thought "Normally the name should be displayed first"... I guess that was exactly wrong, damn it! :P
The average age (if we exclude all the alleged 96 year-olds) is 29. :P
That ":P" after every message of mine is starting to annoy myself... :P

@ArbitraryKangaroo Good idea, maybe I should make it insert ":P"'s in random places instead of just appending it! That wouldn't be annoying at all! :P

user189275
@LukasRotter: This excellent idea is gonna get a Nobel. (Well, it's so outstanding, that even a new field in Noble would be created too)
