Hi and welcome to Stack Overflow. This kind of broad question isn't really what this site is for - check out the help center for more info. Basically, we're here to answer specific programming-related questions. I'm never completely sure what the scope of the other sites are (I seem to get told off a lot in regards to that...) but you could take a look at some of the other Stack Exchange sites like Programmers - it seems to me that this kind of question might find a fit there. — Jeff 14 secs ago

If it's not okay on Stack Overflow, please move it to programmers.stackexchange.com. BTW, I wouldn't call it multiple questions in one question. It's parts of the same question. — Kartick Vaddadi 25 secs ago

this question might belong on programmers.stackexchange? — Alex Mills 19 secs ago

can anyone recommend me some books on data structures and algorithms in C#

This is likely not viable on programmers.stackexchange.com, either. — Pekka 웃 48 secs ago

Q: Call for volunteers: close voters

Robert HarveyProgrammers could benefit from a few more regular visitors who close questions on the front page and the Unanswered page that are clearly off-topic. "Clearly off-topic" means: We don't do code troubleshooting here, so if your question is about how to fix your broken code or how to use your p...

Welcome to The Stack Overflow (yes Overflow, listen to last week!) Podcast #89, recorded September 27 at Stack Overflow headquarters in NYC. This week's installment is brought to you by Inuktitut, the premiere language of the arctic and one of Nunavut's three official languages (Umiaryuap Publimaaqpaga tattaurniq ammayaq!) as well as National Voter Registration Day. Go to www.voteplz.org for the easiest way to register! "Every individual regardless of wealth or heritage has the same opportunity to vote and create real honest change."

This might be better suited for programmers.stackexchange, but I'm not sure if it meets their requirements. Still, I believe that high level algorithmic design belongs there AFAIK. — Wayne Werner just now

Hey hey hey!
I wiped one task off of my whiteboard! :D

congrats

tries to be Done and gets things Smart.

@AaronHall If you erase things, how can you silently brag to other people about all the stuff you got done?
Leaving stickies in a done column or crossing items off feels so much more rewarding than erasing.

He just showed you how :)

I prefer to brag about my backlog... :P

5:11 PM
@CandiedOrange No, he had to say something.

besides, I have a sneaky suspicion that what he really got done was cleaning part of his whiteboard.

That would explain it.

:P THBHTHBHTHT

I like to have the main things I'm working on on my whiteboard so all I have to do is glance at it and I know what I can work on. I like to put my own priorities on the board too. So documentation cleanup gets worked on, otherwise it won't.
Sometimes my boss puts things on it, sometimes the org puts things on it too.
This was an org item... :)

Happiness is a clean whiteboard

@CandiedOrange /me goes to delete all the messages here

I also put deep academic stuff on it when I can spare the time. I merged Deming's Plan-Do-Study-Act with Argyris's Double-Loop Learning model. A clean whiteboard would mean I don't have anything to do, and then I'd get micromanaged. :(

Pics of your merged models.

explains why you put deep academic stuff on it "Go away, doing complicated stuff you wouldn't understand"

I also put our proprietary access control in a Nutshell on the board - takes up 6 times the space, and much cooler, but can't post it here though.

I'm looking for any source (book/article) that might take a problem domain and compares how one would model that using inheritance/classic model vs how to do it idiomatically using traits and composition based model (ex: Rust).

8:32 PM
Well that might actually be a question for the site, unless it's a dupe.

@AaronHall resource requests are off topic.. .?

Well, sadiq would have to come up with his problem domain and ask about modeling it with classic inheritance versus traits and composition (e.g. in Rust).
We don't have to save every idea, but it would be nice if we could try to save some.

Well I did post it as a question but it got closed as off topic. (quite quickly I might add, with couple of down votes :) )

well, dude...
@sadiq.ali as you were writing your question, were there popups suggesting other possible questions that might have answered your question?
@ThomasOwens most resource requests can be easily stripped from questions, which can then easily be reworded to be on-topic questions. I have so-edited this question, suggest reopening? — Aaron Hall 23 secs ago

8:48 PM
@AaronHall I have searched the forum with some keywords but could not find any suitable questions

@sadiq.ali great, also, was there a popup mentioning what was on topic, and that resource requests are specifically forbidden for questions on Programmers?
@everyone What good are four bullet points if we don't present them to askers when they're composing their questions?

@AaronHall No, did not get any popup. I'm using uMatrix, that might have blocked the popup, if it should have came.

No, you wouldn't have seen such a popup. But would it have been appreciated?

@AaronHall Yes, that would have been helpful. I thought programmers.stackexchange is where general non-code related design stuff is discussed, so went ahead and asked the question.

Well since I removed the offending sentence, maybe it will get reopened.

8:54 PM
@AaronHall Hope so. Thanks for editing the question.

You might try to make it more specific, perhaps suggest example problem domains, it's still quite vulnerable to being kept closed with the justification of over-breadth.
@AaronHall In some cases, that's true. But even with the edit, I still think that it is too broad. If narrowed to a specific problem in a specific domain, then I can see reopening. I'll leave it to the community. If it starts to get a couple of reopen votes, please do flag it and I know I would cast a mod reopen. — Thomas Owens ♦ 41 secs ago
@sadiq.ali there you go ^^^ make it more specific.

Ok, thanks @AaronHall. I'll update the question with simple example of model in Java.

@everyone What good are four bullet points if we don't present them to askers when they're composing their questions?
Assuming we do rescue the question, they're afraid that sadiq, having seen the objection to his question, wouldn't have written the question as acceptable at all. Which may be true.
Nevertheless, I think that providing better instructions on the question page itself would encourage more intelligent askers to ask better questions in the first place.
Imagine a world where we only get good questions.
It's easy if you try.
Imagine all the people, getting questions answered... Yoohooooo, you may say I'm a dreamer... but I'm not the only one...

9:22 PM
Well, updated the question.. let see what happens.
It's past 2am and I really need some sleep..
thanks @AaronHall for help. Will check the question first thing..

You're welcome, I hope you get it salvaged.
anyone know if mysql can version tables? If so, how would that work?
