@NapoleonWilson, do you happen to know how to get notifications from other users questions?

12:17 AM
@Movers That's not really possible. All you can do is favourite it (select the little star under the vote buttons). Then it will appear on your profile in the favourite list. And that list will also highlight whenever one of your favourites has new changes (edits or answers). But you don't get an actual notification for it, you still have to visit your profile manually.

Q: Are the actors speaking Japanese in Solar Crisis?

Tyler DurdenI have been watching Solar Crisis (1990) and it seems to be completely dubbed. The mouth movements have that Godzilla-like anti-synchronization. However, many of the actors, like Charleton Heston, Tim Matheson and Jack Palance are Americans. Are they actually speaking Japanese in the film? If so...

Is it typical for Movies & TV to have a high ESL userbase?

user132126
Jeremy Renner is the sick dude this episode!

user132126
House treated Hawkeye!

@CreationEdge As typical as on all of SE, I guess.

user132126
SFF doesn't seem to get too many, but I notice a lot of new Qs on Movies do.

user132126
I just thought it was interesting. Do you edit a lot of questions?

1:31 AM
@CreationEdge Well, a lot of new questions are ID questions anyway, so...

user132126
Ah.

user132126
Bummer that's such a divisive issue. They definitely seem to be a less pleasant and fun aspect over here.

user132126
On SFF it's mostly obscure short stories that most people haven't heard of, and they're interesting finds.

user132126
I did vote against them here, as I was considering becoming more active. The more examples I saw, the more I understood why they were terrible.

Q: What is the fantasy movie that features a flying homing dagger with a demon face

kirakunMy memory is sketchy. Probably a movie from the 1980s or 1990s. It's a fantasy movie. The dagger seems to be sentient. Once the master launches it toward you, the dagger will relentlessly chase after you through the air even if you duck and turn. The only way to stop it is to not dodge it or fig...

@NapoleonWilson What? What's the Pittsburgh Penguins? Do tell!
@NapoleonWilson I really liked Straight Outta Compton. I thought it was pretty good. My mind was kind of blown, because I was looking at the person who was portraying Ice Cube and I thought that it was actually him and I was wondering how they got him to look so young. I had no clue that was his son. OMG. They look exactly alike. Mind.officially.blown. ;)

Q: Why does Bourne choose to reveal his location to Vosen?

thinly veiled question markAfter watching The Bourne Ultimatum so many times, I noticed something I didn't really pick up on before. Q: Why was the swordsman of Calais chosen as Anne Boleyn's executioner?

steelersharkAnne Boleyn was executed on May 19, 1536. @steelershark Umm... it's okay.

@MAFIA36790 I just don't care for their atmosphere over there. It's extremely inconsistent. I know there are a few SFF regulars who also love History and feel the same way as I do.
No big deal :)

user116211
@steelershark ohh... I'm not a regular guy there; just going there seeing some hot network questions or digging some profile.... I've just asked two questions there; so I've a very little experience there.

@steelershark yes, they are the favourite children of conspiracy ;D

Agreed.

@MAFIA36790 everything bad eventually gets associated to goebbels or hitler, just like everything smart eventually gets associated with einstein or hawking, and everything profound eventually gets associated to jefferson or franklin

Q: Movie about a terminally ill girl living at a lake house with her father

Laura GallagherI remember a movie, could it have been a TV movie? This movie was released a long time ago, probably the 1980s? It was with a terminally ill girl living with her father, at a house by a lake. May have been a vacation house and he'd built her a playhouse that was pretty awesome. I'm vaguely think...

I searched a bit and got a similar-plot movie; here is the comment:

6:18 PM
The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane is a 1976 Canadian-French film directed by Nicolas Gessner and starring Jodie Foster, Martin Sheen, Alexis Smith, Mort Shuman, and Scott Jacoby. It was written by Laird Koenig, based on Koenig's 1974 novel of the same title. The plot focuses on thirteen-year-old Rynn Jacobs (Foster), a mysterious child whose dark secrets concerning her absent poet father are prodded by various nosy villagers in a small town in Maine. The film, though predominantly a dramatic thriller, also blends elements of horror, mystery, and romance. == Plot == On Halloween in the seaside...

3. In both the movies, the protagonist girl was Jodie Foster

user116211
Alicia Christian "Jodie" Foster (born November 19, 1962) is an American actress, director and producer who has worked in films and on television. She has often been cited as one of the best actresses of her generation. Foster began her career at the age of three as a child model in 1965, and two years later moved to acting in television series, with the sitcom Mayberry R.F.D. being her debut. In the late 1960s and early 1970s, she worked in several primetime television series and starred in children's films. Foster's breakthrough came in Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976), in which she played...

@MAFIA36790 Actually, what you just posted in here would make an interesting question to ask on the site. Something like "Is there a reason why these two films are so similar?"...or something along those lines.
It's no use pinging Napoleon today. He's just toying with us with his presence ;)

@MAFIA36790 Wait. Did you already ask it and it completely flew over my head? That happens a lot. I am blonde ;)

user116211
@steelershark ;D

user116211
@steelershark: Also, quite related; in the latter movie, Jodie celebrated her last birthday before death and that was her twelfth birthday; in the former movie, she played the role of a thirteen year old teen.

user116211
Oh, Jesus!

user116211
These two are intriguing ;))

I'm going back to my books...so, I would call it a day. Bye @steelershark and my other comrades.

@MAFIA36790 Oh, I don't want to do that, either. Maybe when you have a few minutes sometime, you can post it. I am working on a question about Se7en at the moment.
@MAFIA36790 See ya :)

user116211
@steelershark I've just typed a physics question and it is giving me nuts.... so may be in the future; but I think it would be highly speculative to think about such closed-resemblance between the two movies. Although for me, there is no coincidence, everything has a reason ;) Good night.

@NapoleonWilson Oh, yeah? I'm watching Octopussy. Top that!

is that the short prequell to batlestar?

@steelershark I watched that a few weeks ago already. Catch up! ;-P

7:12 PM
@NapoleonWilson Oh, that's right! Hahaha! Er, I remember now :P

user132126
Yeah

It's the one set in my home town. (But still one of the weaker Moore films.)

@CreationEdge fyi...you are not talking to Himarm, you are talking to his ghost. His wife killed him.
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, not my favorite. But, it's still Bond...and it has an awesome title. Very cool.

@steelershark Of course!
So...wasn't there someone watching Quantico (@AnkitSharma?)? Is it worth something?
Anyway, fruit time!

user132126
@Himarm Ghostbuster gonna get you

@NapoleonWilson Are you vegetarian?

@CreationEdge No. Why?

user132126
You eat a lot of fruit. Just wondering.

Well, I like fruit...and meat...and other stuff. ;-)

Napoleon always licks to announce what he is eating.

@steelershark Rarely, actually.

7:25 PM
@NapoleonWilson What? You announce when you're eating fruit, cake, Subway, gaspacho...

@steelershark But compared to all meals it's very rarely. In contrast to you I don't just eat once a week/month. ;-P

@NapoleonWilson ;-(

user132126
Haha

user132126
How's @Himarm's diet, going?

Hey, I have been eating. I'm not even doing my lemon water cleansing diet. Trust me...you will see when I see you in a few weeks :(

user132126
7:29 PM
Cleansing? What?

user132126
Bogus science

@CreationEdge Well, he blew it Friday night by getting drunk.

@steelershark Awww, you will look stunning, I'm sure. ;-)

user132126
That's not blowing it.

@CreationEdge It's just a program that is a 10 day detoxification thing.

user132126
7:30 PM
But... that's not a thing, unless you're detoxing from pain meds?

I wasn't serious when I said that he blew it by getting drunk. He did want to eat his cat, though ;)
@CreationEdge huh? No, it's just something that helps kick start your metabolism and rids your body of toxins built up from food.
@NapoleonWilson We'll see...

user132126
Toxins isn't really a thing, though... That's the rub. It's just a gimmick sold by fake weight loss and personal health products.

I believe that Himarm can't move his arms today from working out. So, he must still be sticking to the diet.

diets going good

Well, it's not anything that you buy. It's just lemons, water, cayenne pepper and maple syrup. There are other things that you do when you're on it, like steam baths and saunas and stuff. I always feel great after I do it.
Good for you, Himarm!
Is your wife on the same diet with you?

7:43 PM
shes "on the diet"
but she snacks when she thinks im not looking
lol
cheater

Lemon diet ^
@Himarm Well, those are free calories. They don't count if nobody is looking. They also don't count if you don't put snacks into a bowl. If you just grab a handful of chips out of a bag and don't actually sit down with them in a bowl, the calories don't count ;)

i have my 0 calorie pickles
i eat 3 a day
in between meals
:P

Are you drinking more water?

yeah i have a galon jug next to me
and im just chugging it all day

You're better off just eating a few cucumbers with some salt and pepper. But, as long as pickles are keeping you from cheating...it's all good :)
Good! Lots of water!

user132126
8:10 PM
Geez, I have this person that keeps trying to get others to not even discuss current events with me, just because I disagree with her most of the time.

user132126
How controlling can you be?

Is this on Facebook?

user132126
No, on a message board I've been going to on and off for about 15 years.

user132126
They say I always just disagree to play the devil's advocate. It's like... someone disagreeing with you means there's an agenda besides not having the same opinion?

Well, what would be more concerning is if others actually listened to her.

8:14 PM
@NapoleonWilson there is better stuff then Quantico out there......first half is good but second half is bleh

> I'll not tell you anything about the future ever. But yeah, this Khan guy is bad, you gotta kill him! Oh, and here's how...

The world would be a boring place if we all agreed on everything ;)

They just don't like me so they have this weird grudge against me. I enjoy talking with the others, though.

@CreationEdge Awww. I'm sorry. That's really childish and petty, imo. We all like you here :)

@CreationEdge don't worry that much......

user132126
Yeah, it's pretty childish.

user132126
I even told them that if I fed my posts to another user, posting my thoughts as theirs, they wouldn't get the same reaction and actually be engaged in discussion.

user132126
I'd like to see them deny it.

user132126
8:30 PM
We're all upset about today's police shootings.

I mentioned that maybe it'll change gun control laws, if these keep up. I didn't mention a zero-guns policy (I don't even know where I stand on that), but just a change to the current (which I think is obviously needed).

Yeah, I saw Wad post something about it in the other room, but I didn't ask. I will have to go on MSN and read about it.

It's just frustrating to try and have a conversation about important events with people you've know half your life, and then have another constantly jumping in to tell them not to talk with me, often whilst calling me names.

(But then being completely civil in other threads? It's a mess.)

This is why I avoid talking politics with people. Especially my father. I love him too much. He thinks George W Bush is awesome. I completely disagree. It never ends well, so the topic is just avoided.

I have opinions. I believe they're valid and fair and not grounded in irrationality or hate. I have no problem expressing them or standing up for them.

I also believe that other people can know or experience things that I don't or can't, and by discussing important topics I can learn from them.

Yeah, I agree :)
My dad just gets really worked up about some stuff...

Q: Who did Andy work for when he was a shoe-shiner?

Rogue JediIn one episode, Andy states that he doesn't really know who his boss is. This raises the question, who is in charge of the shoe-shining business? We know that Leslie arranged for him to get the job once Old Gus retired. We also know that the Pawnee government seems to own the chairs, as they ar...
