8 AM here.

This sentence is correct? "How SO (or other SE communities) finds users for giving them their notifications? "

user174558
@Shafizadeh It is not a complete sentence but may be used as a title.

I see, tnx

user174558
@Shafizadeh If you want a complete sentence, say 'How does SO find users ... ?' instead.

12:15 AM
ow .. short and better, tnx

also, it's more idiomatic to say "to give them" rather than "for giving them"

ah ok :-)

@MattE.Эллен Hey. Still need an answer on the room owners question...

user174558
@KitZ.Fox So are we getting the chat bot back?

Eventually.

user174558

@MattE.Эллен I am glad you did not add more example sentences for legitimate to your edit which would have invalidated my answer, since I referred to your example sentences.

user174558
We have all heard of Ubuntu, but have you heard of Utnubu?

I need neither, but I need to say how ridiculous the two other answers are on english.stackexchange.com/questions/294251/…

user174558
I now have a feeling that Kris is deadrat.

10:38 AM
I think I am going to start downvoting some posts from now.

I will see it today! unless something unforeseen happens

user174558
Are you watching with Maria?

user174558
I am still using Flash 11.2, LOL, because there is no newer version for Firefox Linux.

user174558
Fortunately it still works.

10:43 AM
I am going with my girlfriend, though
none of her friends called Maria are coming.

user174558
Woo! Congrats! Hope you get married soon!

user174558
For me, I think there might never be a Maria.

user174558
This navy colour for my square is actually pretty nice.

user174558
deadrat cannot be Kris because he writes much better.

11:17 AM
Because this site has lots of etymology questions, users with OED access have an advantage in scoring, lol.

2:29 PM
@snailboat STAR WARS SPOILER: Chewbacca has the most dialog ever.

2:58 PM
Damn it, @Mitch! That better be a joke.
I have to go watch the Star Wars movie soon so I can brash about how I already had the whole thing figured out.
Because there are books, you know.
Books make the best spoilers.

3:23 PM
@KitZ.Fox no joke. You'll see. Plot may actually depend on his utterances, not sure. That's what the hermeneuticists are for.

Now I have to suspend you until I watch the movie. grumble

Does plot depend on anyone's words ever? I don't know. They're just immaterial reflections on nonexistent internal states. Thought is not action rehearsal, it's commentary after the action. sigh

Dude.
Ok. I forgive you. I'm pretty sure I already know all the spoilers anyway. Because books. Still excited to see it.

I hope this is not giving anything much away, but the experience is heightened by having popcorn.
Oh. I've said too much.

No ewoks were eaten in the course of the movie, neither as nourishment or ceremonially.
Cannibalism is funny because eating ewoks is wrong
Just commentary but autosuggestion seems to giving random words for 'ewoks': river, Weald.

3:42 PM
ewok backwards is kowe

The way the new Star Wars movie tied in the whole Santa Clause finds the One Ring during his Jurassic Park holiday is just catering to Oscar voters.

3:58 PM
Oscar Wilde voters?

No, they're pretty predictable.

@SvenYargs!

user174558
I just posted three answers, lol.

Hi, tchrist. I came by to see what people thought of the bizarre split in recorded instances of usage between 18th-century British English and 1980s+ Black vernacular English of the phrase "call somebody out of name" (english.stackexchange.com/questions/278515/…). Could that be a phrase transmitted through slavery, or is coincidence a likelier explanation/conclusion?

I'd go for the latter, but anything's possible I guess.

Yeah... the wording didn't seem altogether intuitive to me as a way of saying "insulted [someone]," but the possibility that it's a coincidence is less far-fetched than the notion of unremarked preservation in linguistic occultation followed by reemergence centuries later. Thanks!

11:37 PM
Saturday night is always very quiet here.

Well, back to the hurly-burly of the main site. Hasta!

@tchrist I got some money cause I just got paid.
@SvenYargs what annoys me bout the system is that we can't register a 'leave open' vote (which should... well I don't know...negate the close votes?) except if we get lucky in the review queue.
