Anyone seeing this may ping/answer.
"A dead Michael Jackson" is okay? 'A'?

In a strange context, perhaps.

@MaulikV Seems okay to me: "Shocking photo of a dead Michael Jackson shown to jury"
I'd have to look up Quirk et al for an explanation though

@CopperKettle You can turn proper nouns into common nouns.

Your example seems less likely because the a would probably be omitted from a headline.

Also, the author could place dead after the name.

@MaulikV I commented on your question. It's a grammatical utterance, but would it be okay where you're gonna use it/where someone else has used it?

Yeah, a dead Michael Jackson is perfectly grammatical, but it'd be better to talk about it in context.

Still, I think an answer could talk about when it's appropriate, given that it's fairly restricted in usage.

It'd just be best to include the context that prompted the question, if any, to make sure the answer addresses the specific case you're wondering about.

@snailboat Good afternoon, Snails! I know, but Quirk et al make no mention of usage similar to a dead Michael Jackson

Q: How can we improve our voting system?

Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ.Voting plays a crucial role in the health of a Stack Exchange community. I'd like to see some improvements in how we vote and what we vote for. How can we improve it? In other words, how can we encourage more learners to vote and discourage blind-voting (voting based on anything other than the ...

@Ϻ.Λ.Ʀ. -- We are now under 3,700 questions in the tag. It was once over 4,100 questions. It reached 4,000 on October 24, 3,900 on November 14, and 3,800 on November 30.

So in late 2017 the tag will be gone?

4:07 PM
@snailboat At this rate, sometime in the summer of 2017. But we could do an event and knock a couple months off in one go.

@Jasper That was what I were thinking about earlier today.
If my recent new post goes on well without argumentative people trying to prove I'm wrong again, I might set it up just like I set chem's @Jasp.

I kill grammar on sight, pardon me pun.

@CopperKettle That'd make a motto.
