The first wheel that you start on is the math wheel.
In the math wheel, N is a natural log.
But in the next wheel, the string wheel, N pushes a newline.

@quartata Ahem.

@Dennis Not quite the same.
That's still a cool language though.

It's not quite the same because I'm an idiot.
See updated link.

There will be lots of wheels.
Oh, cool!
Well this one will be like that but useful.
So one wheel might be about sockets, for instance.

@quartata Haha.

7:04 PM
Anyways, I'm proud that my little example program there outgolfs CJam and is almost as short as Pyth

I wonder how I could map the Game of Life onto a sphere..

@TheDoctor: Golly can do that.

Golly? Golly gee willikers?

@El'endiaStarman Does that work like Shave and a Haircut works for toons?

7:07 PM
@AlexA. After a lot of back and forth, I finally got my Dyalog license.

Woot! What kind of back and forth was required?

@Mego ....not sure what you mean?

@AlexA. Telling them repeatedly that I do not own a 32-bit Windows computer.

@Dennis Hahahaha why would that need to be stated more than once? I told them I have a Mac and there was no question.

7:09 PM

Ahh, I've heard of that. Haven't seen it (yet).

It wasn't bad but it didn't do anything for me.
My girlfriend loves it though.

do you think my solution is right now?

@AlexA. Well, when I first entered MyDyalog, that was the only download available. According to them, it's the option I chose when filling out the form, though I find that hard to believe. In the same mail, the said they had updated my preference, but when I logged back in, there was no change. The salesperson forgot to click the refresh button or something. Third mail. w00t.

@Dennis Awesome. :/

Well, free is free.

Haha indeed!

Not sure how to use it though.

...Open it and start using it?
Did it come with the RIDE IDE?

So far, I could only find a command-line version.

7:16 PM
Huh.

Not sure what RIDE IDE is...

64-bit Linux?

Yup.
There are several executables in /opt/mdyalog/14.1/64/unicode/: aplkeys.sh, BuildID, dyalog, dyalog.rt, make_scripts and mapl
I don't know what most of them do.

^ That's the RIDE IDE.

ಠ_ಠ
I see what you put in there...

7:18 PM
Yes, can I help you?

How do you open that?

It's Dyalog-14.1.app on Mac.

What's the executable's name?

See above.
(Technically a .app is not an executable though)

It's a link, no?

7:20 PM
Actually it's a folder.

I learned this when making executables from Python for Windows and Mac.

I learned it from messing around with the macs at the high school.

@quartata Backticks don't like newlines. For multi-line code, use 4 spaces, as usual.

7:34 PM
@Dennis That doesn't surprise me.

@Dennis But there aren't actually any newlines in it
Just newline literals.
Anyways, I bet you can't guess what that does.

Anywho, this takes a string gotten from STDIN (starts on the stack by default, just like GolfScript) splits it by the @, opens a socket to the last part of that @ and sends that mail to it.
It's not really that useful since it sends it to the same person regardless of what you specify.
I'm going to try to make it more useful.

It's just kind of a sample of what the power of wheels can do.

Why is java's scripting framework so hard to use?

@SuperJedi224 Scripting framework?

The package javax.script

@quartata JavaScript?

It comes with a Javascript implementation built in

>javax

There's your problem

@TheDoctor lololol

I had no idea that was a thing.
I always used Rhino for scripting.

They also make it a pain in the neck to add your own ScriptEngines.

@quartata You didn't know about JavaScript?

@AlexA. No of course I knew about JavaScript.

8:03 PM
Better jQuery your brain, broseph.

It's possible, but they certainly didn't make it easy.

JavaScript not equal to Java Scripting

i think ur rong.

@quartata: ScriptEngine js=new ScriptEngineManager().getEngineByExtension("js")
Then you can just call js.eval(/*your javascript code as a String*/)
But you have to check for ScriptExceptions

Well jeez
Does it work in Java 8?

8:05 PM
Yes

Because Rhino doesn't currently work in Java 8 and I've been looking for an alternative

@quartata I don't know what that was supposed to be, but is there no Wikipedia article for "trout"?

8:10 PM
@AlexA. There is.

Is a Template:Trout a special kind of trout?

Anonymous

Is that when you cook a Template:Trout too much?

Templates on wikipedia basically are things that you can put inside { } and have them auto-fill something in
This template is used frequently to tell people they did something stupid (on their talk pages)
The above is a WikiTrout (Oncorhynchus macrowikipediensis), used to make subtle adjustments to the clue levels of experienced Wikipedians. To whack a user with a wet trout, simply place {{trout}} on his or her talk page. For newcomers (or for a less spammy version), use a {{minnow}}, {{diet trout small}} or {{diet trout}}. For a styleable version that can, e.g., be floated the right of talk page posts, use {{minnow}}. For not-so-subtle adjustments, try a {{whale}}. Any Wikipedian who wants to advertise an openness to being trout-slapped can add {{trout me}} to the top of his or her user page. ...

Sizzle!
The trout you used to slap another wikipedian has been gutted, roasted over the coals, and served with tartar sauce.

Don't take this too seriously. Someone just wants to let you know that, just like the trout in this picture, your trouting of Wikipedians is overdone.

The zero-width space (ZWSP) is a non-printing character used in computerized typesetting to indicate word boundaries to text processing systems when using scripts that do not use explicit spacing, or after characters (such as the slash) that are not followed by a visible space but after which there may nevertheless be a line break. Normally, it is not a visible separation, but it may expand in passages that are fully justified. == UsageEdit == In HTML pages, the zero-width space can be used as a potential line-break in long words as an alternative to the <wbr> element. However, the zero-width space...

Coca-Cola is a carbonated soft drink. It is produced by The Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, Georgia, and is often referred to simply as Coke (a registered trademark of The Coca-Cola Company in the United States since March 27, 1944). Originally intended as a patent medicine when it was invented in the late 19th century by John Pemberton, Coca-Cola was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coke to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century.
