I'm bookmarking that user's page so I can keep an eye on stuff

Sounds a good idea
That user couldnt be any more obvious

9:09 PM
I'm probably now going to be checking my email every 10-15 minutes

Oh
Don't over-check it
They may take 1 hour to answer

I'm confused. Why are you complaining about a user having the fanatic badge?

Q: Python Mandelbrot Set Fractal

James FenwickI thought I would give this months community challenge a try. This is my first time using Python. It does take quite a while to run and it's not very colourful but it works. from PIL import Image, ImageDraw img = Image.new("RGB", (2400, 2400), "white") draw = ImageDraw.Draw(img) max_count = 20...

@SirPython Look at their network accounts page. They're artificially creating activity to earn that badge on accounts with 101 rep, and no questions or answers.

Worst:
It is across MULTIPLE WEBSITES
Not just 1
Or 2
I've provided 5 or 6 examples

9:17 PM
More along the lines of 15-16

So you are saying that he/she should not get the fanatic badge because they have not contribute any actual content to the site?

Yeah, but I only liked 6 sites

Or am I still misunderstanding?

Not that

Yeah, that's sort of the reasoning.

9:18 PM
What's so bad about that? The user is visiting the site each day.

Except that I think it's unfair to users who provide activity, and actually do things, rather than just auto-visiting and not caring.

There

That sounds more like a meta than an email to SE.

It could be
I decided to send an email though

But a meta where?

9:19 PM
Meta SE

If it needs to be brought up on Meta.SE, then it will be.

Badges have nothing to do with being fair.

^^ that

Badges are about virtual life.
Life ain't fair.
Virtual life ain't fair either.

Depends where

9:20 PM
Well, you don't seem to care, but I do.

If you do want to do something about, bringing it up on meta would bring a lot more attention a lot faster.

@IsmaelMiguel No, life is never fair.

@Mast Life sucks, but that's not the point
"Virtual life" can be made "fair"

Whether or not your question gets a lot of views, for example, has nothing to do with question quality. It has more to do with SEO.

9:21 PM
I propose that in order to actually get the fanatic badge, one has to actively participate in a site.

How do you define "actively participate"?

Activity can be scripted. They must have known that.
@EthanBierlein Why? Make it a new badge instead.

@SirPython Vote, edit questions, visit the site every day, answers and questions possibly too.

You have to do all of those everyday?

Not every day, but enough in a consecutive 100-day period to make it count

9:22 PM
Looks normal to me. Edits, visits, etc - that is what those badges are for.

Voting for the sake of voting shouldn't be promoted.
Vote up on good questions, vote down on negative questions. Don't vote if they're in between.

I've gone a bit out of my way to get the badge a couple times, and I didn't vote on in between posts.
Nothing wrong with looking up some older posts near the end of the day, is there?

Not in my book.
If they're good, it won't hurt to add extra votes.
Same if they're bad.

Q: Bash script to capture error message and change exit status

Got my database assignment done, going to sit on it for a day or two and go do more school.
See ya.

9:25 PM
Have a good night
I have a question for you all
Anyone who can answer this, will get a bounty in a good question that deserves
Or a question you pick
3 years ago, I used a bash something, to make dialogs, using some XML
But since then, the pen drive with those codes died
And I can't recall what was it
It used GTK to make the dialog

Like GUI?

Yea
It's Linux-only

Glade?

Well, there's the dialog command here.

9:32 PM
Not exactly that
I saw that before

Can you add what's different between what you mean and what examples I provided?

I could pass a string with the XML code to produce a GUI window
With tabs
Horizontal separators
Fields

Like XAML?

Buttons

Q: Please check this code

user86685I have homework: 1. create on a desktop folder with your name 2. copy from your account XYZ@xyz.com two files "plik1.pdp" and "plik2.pdb" 3. combine them to the new file : "plik3.pdb", but they have to be in special order, I mean : the second file should be first and then comes the first one ...

9:34 PM
@CaptainObvious No.

Yeah, it used some XML-like code

Hello.

Hey @MannyMeng!

I need opinions...

Greetings

9:35 PM
Is the above question actually code?

@IsmaelMiguel You may have seen XAML, perhaps in combination with WPF. Often combined with C#.
Code-behind stuff, I'm not too good with the terminology on that front.
@MannyMeng If you have it in the review queue and you don't know, feel free to skip it.
Personally, I doubt he tested it.

I don't have it in the review, but it worries me to see a question that I am uncertain about.

The question is quite bad in it's current format

@Mast Huh?

9:38 PM
@MannyMeng It's not a high-quality question. Since it's actually code, I'd say it's a grey area.

@Mast Ok.

@MannyMeng That review was automatically triggered by you editing the question.

@Mast Actually, it wasn't...
Or it probably wasn't...

I've edited the question

@Mast pclosmag.com/html/Issues/200910/page21.html <-- Found it!!! It's gtkdialog
Where shall I place the bounty?

9:42 PM
@IsmaelMiguel Your bounty, your call.

Well, give me a question that could use a bounty

@EthanBierlein Better.

@IsmaelMiguel You mean any question?

@IsmaelMiguel One that has or one that doesn't have a good answer already?

@Mast One that could use love
@MannyMeng Not any quyestion. A question that Mast picks

9:44 PM
@IsmaelMiguel ...

Q: Template UserForm Input - launch, input, validation, error handling

ZakI'm building a template [Process-Tracker] spreadsheet. The idea is that, for any process where we can define what steps should occur in what order (and preferably, how far apart), there will be a spreadsheet with buttons for: Adding a new [Item] to be tracked Updating the List of [Items] an...

This belongs better at Code Review instead of Stack Overflow. — gustafbstrom 7 secs ago

@IsmaelMiguel That should attract some attention.

I hope it does
Now I need +4 reputation

9:48 PM
@IsmaelMiguel Done.

Thank you!
I need to post a follow-up for that question

Q: Dealing with a class that has organically grown too large

Emily L.Disclaimer: This is live, production code for my hobby project: LSML (GitHub). Due to the size of the code I'm unable to include everything in this review. The application is a tool for configuring loadouts for an online mech game. Brief summary of the problem domain A mech has 8 components: H...

@CaptainObvious That title needs some love

@EthanBierlein WHY!? Why I don't have 125 reputation!?

Q: Simplification of this Java program

user5438459I have made a Java program, and it is long. It is used to calculate the GPA of four classes when given the grade, class type (normal, honors, or AP), and the terms. Here's the code: package gpa.calculator.pkg2; import java.util.Scanner; public class GPACalculator { public static void main(St...

@CaptainObvious Simplification of this title

I really. Really. Really. Wish that whole thing where people repeat the title slightly different would stop

Here's another user who thinks SE is a forum:

I don't mean to single you out @EthanBierlein

10:05 PM
But it has to stop. Please. General intervention to everyone.

That's not a question

Ooh, here's another one from the same user:

Gaming.SE is the best place to find awful questions
And answers

Some people never learn
Well, at first I would say that it is Mario

10:08 PM
Those questions are actually on-topic

@EthanBierlein That's bad...

I know
But look at it!
It's asking if Mario is Mario

now now, there are many mario games

Still Mario

and one of the answers pointed out that it could actually be a super smash bros game

10:09 PM
Isn't that somewhat the same?

No
Not even remotely the same

My mistake then
Forgive my stupidity

Okay, I think this one might be the best so far:

I need 2 more rep there to go on a downvote frenzy. Oh well, perhaps this is for the best.

Honestly, just browse all the questions tagged on that site, and you'll have your bad question fill within an hour.

10:11 PM
While I agree with half the statement, that "question" shoul be deleted... Really

@Mast Have fun! ;-)

lol

Why aren't those deleted after a while?

No idea
They must be lax on that

10:14 PM
Well

I could always post a meta question there

A good answer would be "Don't play Candy Crush"

I mean, why the hell does that ... thing .... exists?

To make money

10:15 PM
That ^^

Sadly, they do make a lot of money

Simple games make money like crazy for some reason.

Dang, I need to make a crappy Flash game and collect my millions

Already made one, it's not thát simple

Yeah, Flash is a pain

10:16 PM
No, Flash is easy. And if you want it even easier, go Unity webplayer instead.
Very fancy, very easy.

Very unknown for the average user

I heard that Unity is dropping their webplayer soon.

Who gives about average users?
@EthanBierlein Say wut?

@Mast He who wants to make money

10:18 PM
is not a marketing person and doesn't give a crap about money as there's enough to pay the bills and whiskey

I have enough for bills

@EthanBierlein Basically: move everything to GL
Can't be that bad

... Right ...

I didn't think it was a huge deal either

It removes a dependency, which is good.

10:20 PM
WebGL is still a pile of problems

More audience and all.

Who made it?

Me
Of course, I wasn't signed in

Is it up for review?

10:27 PM
But I couldn't honestly care less
I might put it up for review

@EthanBierlein s/could/couldn't

I'll just.. edit out the, erm, obscene language.

From where?

Ah, whatever. I shall have our SQL masters take a look at it.

Phrancis?

10:34 PM
@EthanBierlein Happens often
@IsmaelMiguel There are a couple around

Oh
I only know him

@EthanBierlein What obscene language?
The title could use some love, but afar from that...

Q: Searching for bad Minecraft questions on Gaming.SE
