@David Your major flaw is that you use Red for your answers. I have a way to permanently correct your bad-color syndrome.
I call it the RGB-Warp Beam.
It can alter the color of anything, totally independent from the activation point.
(I simply shoot the beam through a portal, and supply the necessary energy through an inverted lightning rod, but don't tell anyone that)
I just need your exact location, and I can correct your color problem!
@David What color would you like to be instead of red?

@X-27 He want's it to be red

1:50 AM
yah, and he will probably zap me with his hammer if I try to open a portal near him.....

@NoviceInDisguise No
I know Javascript well, but have never written a line of java in my life

Any suggestions on how I can get this to not look like shite?

2 hours later…
12:19 PM
@marcusdoesstuff you can try using a particle system to add randomly sized bubbles, which will make the foam on top, and you could try some transparency in the water material

12:40 PM
@X-27 red

1:42 PM
@X-27 Hmm, I might need some time to work out particles. I saw this which looks great:blendernation.com/2011/04/27/realistic-foam-tutorial ... But it's in the default renderer rather than Cycles. :(

@marcusdoesstuff Usally internal materials can be transferred to cycles.
@marcusdoesstuff Your displacement is off, and you will need foam
Also you will need some color to your water, using absorobtion

2 hours later…
5:33 PM
@marcusdoesstuff I think you need to mix in a transparent shader to control the transparency
You probably also should add a fresnel for the glossy for more realistic reflections
I think your displacement is also too rough

7:27 PM
Game still doesn't work...

1 hour later…
8:36 PM
@GiantCowFilms That is cycles
@marcusdoesstuff Try adding more light/environment texture.

thanks @GiantCowFilms, @TARDISMaker, @gandalf3. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Also I'd recommend using a glass shader instead of mixing refraction and reflection

Q: How can the Glass Shader be imitated using only other shaders?

DarenWExactly what does the Glass shader do? I would guess that it combines the effects of Glossy (zero roughness) for reflections, and Refraction for, obviously, light refracting through the object. Glass could just be a handy combination of Add, Glossy and Refraction nodes. Making and looking at t...

A little absorption wouldn't go amiss either

Q: Volumetric gradient based on density?

splicI am trying to make a material that is translucent at the surface and opaque in the middle. How can I control the gradient? I would like the gradient to correspond with the mesh; i.e. not simply radiate from the origin or something like that. (If my model was a tree, the leaves and bark would ...

Q: Rendering a Water Drop in Cycles

CyberBurstI am trying to achieve a realistic render of a water drop on a piece of grass in cycles. Here is my render: The water drop looks kind of bland and fake right now, it is to dark. I want it to look more like this: How can I that glare effect on the water drop in blender?

Q: How can I create a water material in Cycles?

hexafractionI'm creating a scene with large amounts of water that will be readily visible, containing refraction and at various angles. The scene is an indoor long-course swimming pool, about 50 meters, all of which would be seen by a camera above 5 meters above the water's surface. This is being fluid-sim'd...

@marcusdoesstuff ^^ For tomorrow ;)

thanks :)

Hi I've been new to blender for quite sometime. I upgraded to Windows 10 and the interface for blender has changed completely. Please help!

well there were a lot of buttons back then... that much hasn't changed.

I see the liquefy modifier but I can't find the solidify one...

10:33 PM
lol

10:46 PM
No subserf either
That's quite annoying, I really like using the subserf modifier

Subsurf grind maybe?

@NoviceInDisguise That just cut's up the inside

@cegaton are you sure this isn't a fracture modifier build?
2

like remesh without remove separates.

10:47 PM
Mince maybe?
@TARDISMaker lol

I'm afraid to render any smoke on this one!

i would be afraid to render anything with that

@cegaton Yeah, it would probably be too violent.

My favorite saying: "Behave or I'll render you in my Blender!"

10:50 PM
@NoviceInDisguise You use that when you're baby sitting? :)
Might be a bit harsh

Only when I'm really mad
Actually I never babysat anybody but my siblings
And they know what Blender is

I didn't expect that you did :)

i knew a girl who used to take a machete with her when babysiting.
i only ever saw it used once

@NoviceInDisguise Have you tried to teach any of them?

Yeah right

10:53 PM
on a water melon
it didn't stand a chance

@TARDISMaker My sister was interested, but it was too hard to learn, and what she wanted to do didn't require it

@NoviceInDisguise Okay

wow! interest from family! i get called a nerd and shunned

I have a friend that I tried teaching a while ago, and he learned a bit, but never really caught on.

My dad is a nerd to the inth degree, so I can pose as a normal person

10:55 PM
normal person, son of nerd man

A good ending to a lineage

the thing is, blender isn't nearly as nerdy as some things other people do.

Not even close

like those really in-depth card games

?
Which ones?
Dutch Blitz :P

10:56 PM
@RadishoftheOpera Like watching Doctor Who :)

yugio, pokimon,

@RadishoftheOpera Definately

@TARDISMaker oi! DW is cool, not nerdy

@RadishoftheOpera Depends on the fan

10:57 PM
@RadishoftheOpera How do you play it?

and i don't watch them obsessively and base my whole life off it like some people
@NoviceInDisguise i don't, that would be nerdy

People think it odd when I say I estimate the volumes of objects as a hobby . . .

It's awesome, but there are tons of nerdy Doctor Who fans

I never watched an episode in my life :P

@NoviceInDisguise um... yeah thats pretty weird.
@NoviceInDisguise don't, save yourself from addiction

10:58 PM
lol

flee while it's not too late
once you watch one you're hooked, even if it's one of the stupid ones

@NoviceInDisguise Do, it's a good show and it'll give you something to model :)

I think someone already did that . . . hmm . . .

like..... um... drat, i don't know the stupid names of the stupid ones.

@RadishoftheOpera You mean almost anything from Matt Smith and The Next Doctor (episode)

10:59 PM
Dumbledore is a crazy name

@NoviceInDisguise you could also name yourself after the spaceship...but htats taken too

@TARDISMaker Matt smith was awesome!

What be the name?

@NoviceInDisguise Are you blind?

11:00 PM
TARDIS

oh
duh
right
:P

Time And Relative Dimensions... something something blah balh

@RadishoftheOpera David Tennant and Eccleston are better.

@RadishoftheOpera COOL!
THat always intrigued me!

@TARDISMaker true, but htat doesn't mean that M.Smith isn't hilarious

11:01 PM
Interstellar has some cool science in it
Wish there was more

@RadishoftheOpera No, it doesn't

so i've heard

@NoviceInDisguise I just saw Interstellar last night
That is an awesome movie

@TARDISMaker and he wears bowties and is clean-shaven = always a plus

I really want to watch it in cinema

11:02 PM
I'm probably going to have to rewatch it

@RadishoftheOpera bowties are cool
So are fez's

11:16 PM
I figured it out! (it was on the release notes for Windows10)

import a liquidify file???

I guess is used to fit on a jar file.

@cegaton lol. good one @cegaton

11:37 PM
@TARDISMaker One of my top ten all time movies
@NoviceInDisguise That is much fun... except that I will be compelled to test it. Sometimes I get strange looks when I drop someones lunch box into a bucket of water........
@RadishoftheOpera The most cost effective way to babysit is to do away with them immediately, before they can cause any damage.
