[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #1035 for commit d0c4d13c on branch mods passed

heal 1 to {
    creatureType 'Bio'
    ownedBy 'you'
    zone 'Battlefield'
}
@Simon is this ^^ the syntax for "heal" / "damage" cards?

> Repeat example:

onEndOfTurn {
repeat(3) {
change ATTACK by 1 onCards 1 random {
creature true
ownedBy 'you'
zone 'Battlefield'
}
}
}
[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Zomis pushed commit 00aff283 to groovy: added repeat effect, finishes #246

@Phrancis yes, that seems correct. I know it's a bit inconsistent right now to use heal X to but use change HEALTH by X onCards

Damn, at this pace we should be ready for 0.6 in no time

@Phrancis Still 8 more issues to deal with before then: github.com/Cardshifter/Cardshifter/…

Update common.groovy

Created a number of common cards, will add more as needed.

Although I think #213 has already been fixed in a way, will test it...

> Created common.groovy and added some cards. Anyone feel free to add more if you think of any.
> The data about which file to load could be sent to the client from the server. Technically, it could also be possible to download images as needed from the internet (we would need to host them ourselves then, of course).

@Simon is the correct keyword for the DSL maxInDeck n or MaxInDeck n ?

@Phrancis I think we always use camcelCase, would be surprised if we wouldn't
As all examples I've seen so far are using camcelCase ;)

7:12 PM
I agree, although his commit message on #228 says added MaxInDeck configuration, fixes #228

Let me see where that message is

CardDelegate.metaClass.maxInDeck << {int count ->
    Entity e = entity()
    cardCounts.put(e.id, count)
}
So it's maxInDeck

Gotcha

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] build #1034 for commit 687ca6e3 on branch groovy passed

7:15 PM
It's probably MaxInDeck in the commit message because the class which defines it is MaxInDeck ;)
@SimonAndréForsberg What's this? def deck = config.getConfig(DeckConfig)
Is that DeckConfig a class literal?

[Cardshifter/Cardshifter] Phrancis pushed commit 445d76d6 to mods: Added maxInDeck to Chinese cards file

@Phrancis maxInDeck it is, as skiwi said
@Phrancis I used that message because there was a MaxInDeck class that I created to implement the feature
@skiwi yup, same as doing DeckConfig.class
Groovy, huh?

@SimonAndréForsberg I was just googling Groovy roadmap and was wondering what kind of hits I'd get...

that's a good question actually
I have no clue what they're planning on doing next

You're still on Groovy 2.3, right?
> Groovy 3.0 (Q4 2014)
Feature set for consideration

New Meta-Object Protocol dedicated
to fully leverage "invoke dynamic" (method handles, class values, etc)
make the sedimented dynamic features more coherent
to fix the private visibility conundrum
to shield libraries from "monkey patching" with a notion of "realm"
Rewrite the Groovy grammar from scratch with Antlr 4
in particular adapt to the Java 8 language features
lambdas
method references
default methods in interfaces
annotations on types

@SimonAndréForsberg glaforge.appspot.com/article/groovy-weekly-70 I think this is where all the cool stuff hangs around now

yaaay it persists after restarting..
alrighty then, let's get into debugging and reproducing...

So Groovy moved from Codehaus to the Apache Software Foundation
At least the repos and such

@Vogel612 noooooo. Let's hope not

@Vogel612 How so?
I myself tend to stay away from Apache libraries as it's usually one big dependency for a single method

I have a personal dislike against the stuff maintained there

7:37 PM
But that's not a "normal" usecase

and it's very often the case that software going there, begins slowing down in evolution and at some point just stagnates

> I think for mulligan we can use the same rules as the other mod, though I'm not opposed trying something different too.

Let's try that "increase by 10" idea for a spin, you're probably right that starting at full mana is a bit much

I was trying to, but it feels the internet here at work slow down to a crawl, it's timing out trying to pull anything from github right now

@Phrancis The difference between French and Canadians: French assume only people in France speak French, yet they expect the whole world to talk French to them; Canadians assume people in France and Canada speak French, but they are sorry that they might not have listed all.

> This can wait for 0.7 - Also related #250

@Duga @Phrancis Can it really?
perhaps it can

Well, I'd like to see #250 fixed for 0.6, but #173 is more minor
(I have a feeling #250 will in part fix #173)

250 is a serious playability issue, I don't think we should ship anything until that's fixed

8:45 PM
I was trying to look at the FX code but couldn't get the damn website to pull up

it's been a long while since I did any client-sided Cardshifter code

But I'm guessing that FX is simpler than libGDX?

in a bit I think, yes.

Would this method be where we would start?

I think that one can be used to shorten the existing descriptions

8:52 PM
Say leave the "Rush" & "Ranged" conditions, but take cardInfo.getProperties(); out into a separate function, and put that in a pop-up/tool-tip?
I might be reading that wrong :|

almost
cardInfo.getProperties.get("description") is what you are looking for (I think)
The more I use Groovy, the more I realize how horrible the old Java modding code is.

9:09 PM
Wow this FX code is huge
49 import com.cardshifter.client.views.CardBattlefieldDocumentController;
50 import com.cardshifter.client.views.CardHandDocumentController;
51 import com.cardshifter.client.views.CardView;
I found this in GameClientController
Assuming one or more of these would need modified as well?

yes
the FX code has some code-duplication at places, making it bigger than optimal
CardHandDocumentController and CardBattlefieldDocumentController needs to be modified for the popup thing

Is FXML just a FX-specific XML?

> This commit should help to see where the changes need to be made
> This would probably not be terribly difficult to do, purely cosmetic changes. Right now the colors look kind of "random" in the JavaFX version, while the libGDX version uses dark colors more like the PPT I made a while back (located in the DOCUMENTATION folder from the front of the repo).
> @Zomis are the colors for the different sections located primarily in the FXML files?

10:10 PM
hmm
i managed to get touch selection of tiles working.. but converting the points to their isometric version is a real dilemma

there should be a mathematical operation that can accomplish that
in what way did you get it working btw?

well, I'm checking whether the touched point is inside of a rectangle

okay not a openjdk issue
yay

for that I am using this method from SO:
public static class OverlapTester {

    public static boolean overlapRectangles(Rectangle r1, Rectangle r2) {
        if (r1.x < r2.x + r2.width &&
            r1.x + r1.width > r2.x &&
            r1.y < r2.y + r2.height &&
            r1.y + r1.height > r2.y) {
            return true;
        } else {
            return false;
        }
    }

    public static boolean pointInRectangle(Rectangle r, Vector2 p) {
        return r.x <= p.x &&
               r.x + r.width >= p.x &&
               r.y <= p.y &&
i build up the rectangles just once at the start by mimicking the rendering:
    private List<ArrayList<Rectangle>> createRectanglesForTiles(List<ArrayList<IsoTile>> tiles) {
        List<ArrayList<Rectangle>> rectangles = new ArrayList<ArrayList<Rectangle>>();
        for (int i = 0; i < tiles.size(); i++) {
            List<IsoTile> row = tiles.get(i);
            ArrayList<Rectangle> rectRow = new ArrayList<Rectangle>();
            for (int j = 0; j < row.size(); j++) {
                IsoTile tile = row.get(j);
                IsoPointFloat point = new IsoPointFloat(i * defaultHeight * gapReducer / scaleReducer,

@bazola couldn't you have the Vector overload delegate to the x,y overload?

10:18 PM
when the screen is touched, i unproject the touch location like this:
private void tappedScreen(float x, float y) {
    //System.out.println("touched screen at x: " + String.valueOf(x) + " y: " + String.valueOf(y));
    Vector3 touchPoint = new Vector3();
    this.libGDXGame.camera.unproject(touchPoint.set(x, y, 0));
    //System.out.println("unprojected to x: " + String.valueOf(touchPoint.x) + " y: " + String.valueOf(touchPoint.y));
    this.checkAllTilesForTouch(touchPoint);
}
then i search through the rectangles like this:
private void checkAllTilesForTouch(Vector3 vectorTouchPoint) {
    for (int i = this.allRectangles.size() - 1; i >= 0; i--) {
        List<Rectangle> row = this.allRectangles.get(i);
        for (int j = row.size() - 1; j >= 0; j--) {
            Rectangle rectangle = row.get(j);
            if(OverlapTester.pointInRectangle(rectangle, vectorTouchPoint.x, vectorTouchPoint.y)) {

                this.game.world.levelData[i][j] = 0;

                System.out.println("found one");
                System.out.println("rec = " + rectangle.toString());

@bazola soo... this ignores render layering as with taller buildings?

@Vogel612 not sure what you mean

if you have your ISO-grid
and you render sprites from back to front, layering taller front structures over smaller back structures.
if I now touch "on a tower", but above it's corresponding ISO-tile...
the ISO tile "behind" the tower will be selected, right?

@Vogel612 yeah that is correct

isn't that... unintuitive?
it may be more interesting to select the tile based on the sprite you touch from a UX point of view...

@Vogel612 well, i think that is true, but unfortunately doing that would require that i turn all of the textures into Actors, and then have a isTouched() listener for all of them. not sure how much of a pain that would be

sounds like a rather big one. then again it might make the coordinate transformation moot, if you reference the sprite to their respective tile..

and you could still select a neighboring tile if you select outside of the center of the texture region
a sample texture looks like this:
so it actually extends out beyond where it appears to
one thought would be to shrink the bounding rectangle so that it would be in the center of this area instead of the entire area including the alpha

this does work to restrict selecting a tile to a smaller rectangle in the middle of it:
        float tileWidth = textureRegion.getRegionWidth() * gapReducer / scaleReducer;
        float tileHeight = textureRegion.getRegionHeight() * gapReducer / scaleReducer;

        Rectangle rectangle = new Rectangle(convertedPoint.x + tileWidth/3,
                                            convertedPoint.y + tileHeight/3,
                                            tileWidth/2,

@Phrancis / anyone: What do you think, should we keep the JS-modding code? or should it be cleaned up? Something tells me that we're not really planning on continuing on that path...

@SimonAndréForsberg I vote to get rid of it. I personally think the Groovy modding is far superior, don't see any reason why we should maintain that inferior JS system
We could always tie removing it to an issue like "Remove JS modding", so if we ever needed to get back to it we could just look up the commit

I think it would be easy to look up the commit without an issue for it

That too
One way or another, I really don't see us using that, and it would just slow us down to have to add all the new things from Groovy into JS too

that would be pretty much impossible...
or well... maybe not but.... it ain't gonna happen :)

I need to find me a rival sometime to motivate me :)
You're free to unpin that TODO btw, we're following him now

okay
Now there's only 4 open issues with the 0.6 milestone: github.com/Cardshifter/Cardshifter/…

Looking good!

Display effect description and flavor text when card is double-clicked
"Mythos" decks
New mod: "Mythos"
Code cleanup

"Mythos" decks - Will be ongoing for a while (we can push 0.6 out before it's all done)

ah, right, we only need some of them in 0.6

Main one is 250, but I really don't know how to do that right now, as much as I'd like to

perhaps that could be changed to 0.7 then
yup, 250 is definitely main one
but that one should be fixed in both JavaFX and LibGDX

Yeah let's mark that 0.7. I'll probably get the Hindu one done by early next week, the other ones we'll see

I hope to do Norse in a not too distant future
I should probably do Norse before 0.6

@SimonAndréForsberg Might be beneficial to post screenshots for it for LibGDX so we see how it looks like

Might be beneficial to get it working for LibGDX again after the recent dependency change I apparently have done :)

libGDX GUI to me seems perhaps a bit more "relative" (between UI elements) rather than mostly absolute like FX

yes
FX can be made to be relative also, but it wasn't designed that way back then
I guess we just wanted a quick UI, and then no one bothered changing it :)

I think I actually like absolute better, personally; seems more predictable

Doesn't scale though

Ah, true

ever tried resizing the JavaFX windows? :)

11:56 PM
Um, you can't?

you can, but it looks horrible
nothing is repositioned
nothing is scaled

So it basically trims out whatever is outside the canvas?

yes
and just adds blanks space whatever is inside

Ah, yes; that's not good
I honestly hope we don't have to dick around with JavaFX too much longer

Ah right, lmao
