C is a failing grade for me too
And I can only get so many Bs before they count as failing also
so... S - A - B - C ?
I thought above S there's SS and SSS.

I'd rate students on a 100-point scale like they do with tests
oh wait we do get rated like that on state exams
We have standardized exams like that also, but they typically just report your percentile among all students.
Pretty useless since there's enough slackers and idiots around that you can make it to the top 1% without really trying.
If they did it in college it might be more worthwhile, but in HS it was pointless.
I was a big fish in a small pond back in HS

I was a terrible student in HS
12:11 AM
@Hakase Dagong rates your country's credit rating as an A, higher than the US!
Ill keeo that updated maybe
Did well on tests, but I never did any homework and only attended like 2/3 of the time.
Bad student as in bad grades?
oh I see
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ uh who? what?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Dagong is evil communist propaganda debt rating agency
12:11 AM
Generally, I passed classes, but teachers hated me even though I got the top scores on tests.
(not all teachers, just some of them)
Dagong Global Credit Rating (大公国际资信评估有限公司; pinyin: Dàgōng Guójì Zīxìn Pínggū Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī) is a credit rating agency based in China. In standard Mandarin, Dagong is first half of the four-character idiom Dagong wusi (大公无私) which can be translated into English as 'impartial and without prejudice'. == History == The company was established in 1994, following approval by the People's Bank of China and the State Economic and Trade Division of the People's Republic of China. In May 2009, an agreement of mutual cooperation was signed with Xinhua news agency, reported as "promiting a national credit...
Eh for most rating agencies we are rated good so it shouldnt matter if one rates us bad
sounds communist
besides Russia is probably better to invest for Chinese than americans
@Hakase like your country
12:12 AM
@ton.yeung Some of my teachers were good. Others weren't worth waking up for. So I didn't.
This is a list of countries by credit rating, showing long-term foreign currency credit ratings for sovereign bonds as reported by the three major credit rating agencies: Standard & Poor's, Fitch, and Moody's. The ratings of DBRS, China Chengxin Credit Rating Group, Dagong and JCR are also included. The list also includes all country subdivisions issuing sovereign bonds, but it excludes regions, provinces and municipalities issuing sub-sovereign bonds. == Countries' ratings in different methods == === Standard & Poors === For S&P, a bond is considered investment grade if its credit rating is BBB...
@LoganM Looking back I think I shouldve just done more programming than do homeworks >_>
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ where did you get that info
@ton.yeung Your high school lets you do that? dang
says right here in wikipedia it's not so!
means UR RON
12:14 AM
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Russia's not communist, it's an oligarchy.
@Hakase he not ron he just krazy
My classes had attendance requirements too. I met them some of the time, but not always. But I always managed to argue my way into passing.
@Frosteeze oh right I forget all the time
user image
@ton.yeung I didn't argue with the teachers. I argued with the administrators who wanted to fail me despite getting the highest grades on the exams.
12:16 AM
nice school time
@LoganM wtf why would they want that? what were their arguments?
in soviet russia you school teachers
@Frosteeze I kinda wish I did
@Hakase That I was absent 50 days of the year and was only allowed 18 absences.
12:18 AM
@Yuuki add capitalization of every word and you may
That one was a really pointless argument though because it was during Senior year, and I was already admitted into college. If they didn't pass me, I'd have just gone to college without graduating. NBD
@ton.yeung It's not the handholding I'm complaining about it, it's the terrible formatting.
who the hell decided serif fonts are cool for reading?
screens are shit for that type of font
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ oh… I didn't scroll that far
12:19 AM
@Hakase are all of your countrymen like this?
not at all, no
at least I did scroll some!
most wouldn't even bother
lol I think he saw S&P's ratings
not dagong's
I've a quarter of a mind to just not take classes anymore, but good luck getting a job in this economy without a degree. Not to mention how much money's already been sunk into this.
@Yuuki you already got a job tho dont you?
@ton.yeung Yay, idealogues!
12:21 AM
@Yuuki school doesn't teach anything useful for work
@ton.yeung Ha, like I can get into Google...
universities do, but only a little
@Hakase No, it doesn't. But everyone looks at the shiny degree.

12:21 AM
universities teaches you to learn
@Frosteeze what does school teach then?
@Hakase for me, HS was just me hanging out in IRC and playing command & conquer
pass those pesky tests while you learn how to learn at unis?
@ton.yeung Did you go for the Japanese -> Korean -> Chinese -> Japanese -> French -> Icelandic -> English -> Japanese -> English translation?
ye HS hanging out all the time!
also 4 through 5 year of uni
12:23 AM
@ton.yeung I dont even read books huehue
I just do projects and stuff
@Frosteeze do you listen to drama cds?
maybe write an essay or two for GEs
@ton.yeung which book?
@Hakase I wish there are drama CDs for textbooks
@ton.yeung Cal Poly Pomona
12:25 AM
@Frosteeze I remember there was a series of dramatic manga textbooks that actually teach you something
@Taisho what
@Hakase That'd make me learn :O
12:26 AM
@Taisho hwat
@Taisho y u no post picture of Hank Hill?
@Yuuki no pofesa farnsworth

@Hakase dat the in vers of dum

guys does anybody remember a manga/textbook series on different subjects that is illustrated with a boy and a girl (I think) one of which is teaching the other?
Part of me feels like this teacher insists on copy-paste because she doesn't want us correcting her literal avalanche of spelling and grammar mistakes.
12:29 AM
Shin Takahashi
God that is so distracting
I wouldnt be able to learn lol
@Frosteeze The manga?
ey give it a try first!
@Yuuki Yeah, well, maybe I'm wrong in it being distracting
12:31 AM
I'd read it if they had anything interesting, but it's all HS level stuff.
sneaky boob grab
@ton.yeung I learned some from Spice and Wolf. Forex is hard
@Yuuki nice boat
@Frosteeze maybe you have a problem with learning?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ maybe :P

!!tell @Yuuki urban nice boat
@Memor-X Don't be annoying, drop the @, nobody likes a double-ping.
@ton.yeung [nice boat](http://nice-boat.urbanup.com/4398932) 1. (noun) delightful or pleasing floating vessel used for transportation across water
2. (noun) exceptionally violent or gruesome act, usually stated in response to witnessing something of this nature
3. (verb) to censor something considered excessively violent, usually by replacing it with peaceful images such as nice boats

The origin of this term comes from the censorship of the last episode of the animated Japanese television show "School Days". The last episode contained scenes depicting extreme violence similar to a recent m
12:35 AM
HoiHoi-san is self-aware then
@Frosteeze i know, isn't it cute!
@HoiHoi-san Poor Ping Ping, nobody likes him.
@Yuuki 不公平
Things I would like to burn forever: UML.
@ton.yeung It results in my teacher making god-awfully formatted paragraphs that make me want to tear my optical nerves out.
hate the player not the game
12:40 AM
Hate everyone and everything.
A sensible compromise
Things I would like to burn forever: everything.
Aaaand now I'm on like 4 more FBI watch-lists.
Don't worry. If you keep saying this stuff, eventually they'll run out of watch lists to add you to.
Nah, then I'll start appearing on the meta-watch-lists.
@Yuuki why not ask her if she can do it differently
12:47 AM
I think I might propose "can we use something other than Word?".
How is that going to help?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Because using Word to make these diagrams makes my head hurt.
Actually, her letting us type things for these diagrams would work too.
Q: How does one becomes a vampire in the universe of Diabolik Loves?

MindwinHow is a human transformed into a vampire in the world of Diabolik Lovers? We know for a fact And that one of the brothers mention that So, is it ever explained in the anime or the VN?

I'm supposed to construct a class diagram using only cut/copy/paste.
12:57 AM
@ton.yeung I cannot generate any text myself.
It all has to be cut/copied/pasted from the Word document specification she gave us.
I think the rubric says -30 points for typing anything myself.
@Yuuki so what if you use another program?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Doesn't accept it.
@Yuuki steal someone else's work
Turned-in homework has to be a Word document.
@Yuuki but what if you can open it in word?
1:00 AM
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ Has to be .docx.
what if you paste an image in a doc
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ That's my current workaround.
I'm constructing it all in MS Paint and then copy-pasting it over.
embed a visio into word
1:28 AM
@ton.yeung at least give the three episode rule a try
1:38 AM
@ton.yeung and the others?
holy crap, Grey looks like Arturia
really makes one feel good that Arturia and Guinevere really did love one another to bring a child into the world who decent would give birth to Grey
though now we can get the weird familial relationship thing from Futurama if Grey, Arturia and Mordred were to meet in Ahnenerbe
Grey: who are you two
Arturia: i am your great great great great [skip the rest] great grandfather
Modred: likewise minus one great and i'm your grand uncle
@ton.yeung dropped
Mordred would be closet to Fry's position being the "grand uncle"
I thought Guinevere is a lady
@OshinoShinobu she is, Arturia is a father. remember Merlin made Arturia into a Futanari
1:54 AM
oh yeah
I kinda want to see Nasu's adaptation of Merlin
I bet he'll make him a girl too
a loli girl with twintails....
@Frosteeze nope
looks like a guy to me
Is that from the manga?
Noted to be an elderly man with an awful, childlike personality, he is said to be a prankster and a womanizer. He is the cause of a number of problems, including stealing women's underwear, and the world would have been less chaotic had he not been so fond of pulling pranks.
@Frosteeze not sure, the information is from the material books so maybe there's a shot of him in them?
@Memor-X Who?
1:56 AM
@Yuuki my bad, Gray
@LoganM Do you know what the most recent site to graduate is?
@Frosteeze also another clear sign this wont happen is that he's an incubus hybrid, if he was a girl he would be a succubus
I stand by my claim that @Memor-X has broken into @Taisho's imagebase.
@Memor-X Depending on the mythology you subscribe to, incubi and succubi are actually the same thing, the name only distinguishing what gender they're pretending to be at the time.
@Memor-X even in spin-off with Waver as MC, Type-Moon can't live without 'her' lol
2:00 AM
@Yuuki well unless he is a shapeshifter which i can't find anything out on he's a guy until he gets summoned as Caster (just like Mordred)
@Memor-X I'm fairly certain Merlin has been depicted as a shapeshifter in some legends.
> In the Livre d'Artus, Merlin enters Rome in the form of a huge stag with a white fore-foot.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ yep, while Nero is the original in terms of the timeline Arturia is the more loved (poor Nero)
> Going into the forest of Brocéliande, he transforms himself into a herdsman carrying a club and wearing a wolf-skin and leggings. He is large, bent, black, lean, hairy and old, and his ears hang down to his waist. His head is as big as a buffalo's, his hair is down to his waist, he has a hump on his back, his feet and hands are backwards, he's hideous, and is over 18 feet tall.
@Yuuki while i can't find info of him being a shape shifter in the Nasuverse but if there's legends of him shapeshifting then Nasu could make him one later
though pantystealing is really something a guy does, not too many girls do that
@Memor-X So says the champion of yuri and shoujo-ai.
2:04 AM
@Yuuki i haven't see all that many cases of girls stealing each other's panties and said cases center around Strike Witches
I don't mind regardless if Merlin turns out to be a guy or a girl. though being a girl would proably make him less perverted and more crushing on Arturia by playing tricks on her, would then explain why Merlin would be at odds with Morgan Le Fay who was heavily crushing on her sister
@Eric ExpressionEngine
Movies & TV is probably next
Mostly I'm checking stats to see, if that's what A51 is looking at, where we stand in terms of recently graduated sites.
EE's were really terrible. 6 Q/D, 80% answered, and 1.1k V/D. Three 10k+ users, no 20k+.
2:27 AM
@Eric neither do we
we has no 20ks
Only for the 20k+. We have seven 10k+, 11 Q/D, 87% answered, and 13.1k V/D.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ You're only a handful of upvotes away from 20k
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ you go answer few question and we got one 20k
one question will do
@Eric We're still in the graduation queue. Actually we're the oldest site in the queue and have been since Salesforce graduated, but there are other higher priority graduations.
It's a shame it takes them over a month to get graduating sites out the door.
2:30 AM
"over a month" is a bit of an understatement. We've been waiting over a year.
I mean per site.
Yeah it takes a while
now we have one 20k
@OshinoShinobu Not quite :P He has 19,965 rep.
Unless you just went and UV'd him to 20k.
well,,, yeah :p
2:32 AM
I know of at least 10 sites in the queue right now. We're probably ahead of most of them, but sometimes they change the order up.
serial upvoting plz ban
@LoganM Any that stand out as being high priority?
@Eric Movies & TV got bumped to the front.
Other than that, the list is something like this (maybe missing a couple):
Code Review
No idea of SE's priorities, or what's easy/hard to design. I imagine we're hard to make a design for compared to most of those, so some might get bumped ahead of us.
@LoganM you mean site design?
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ yes
2:37 AM
@OshinoShinobu hai
we need to revisit the design. we only get one so we need to make it count
Jin will make tweaks, of course.
@OshinoShinobu You know that's probably going to get picked up by the serial voting algorithm, right? It may be lenient for you since you've got lots of previous votes, but generally, 5 upvotes in one minute is pretty likely to get reversed.
never have that problem before
I think I upvote 4
2:39 AM
How do you know?
It wouldn't tell you if your votes were reversed.
but if I got some vote by different user it won't get reverse?
Depends on the details of the voting. The algorithm isn't public, so I can't really say.
But upvoting a user 5 times in 1 minute could easily trigger it.
If it is going to be reversed, I think we'll know in 15 minutes most likely.
I hope it does
because when I got 5000 rep. someone, several user I guess, upvote me. like, 6 vote. and it didn't get reverse
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ lol, I can un upvote that
@OshinoShinobu if it's several users then it might not be detected since it's detecting if a single user has voted too much
but rather than user i would assume it's an ip check otherwise you could create sock puppet accounts in other browsers
2:55 AM
@Memor-X It isn't a simple algorithm, and the details aren't public. It probably does do a bit of IP cross-referencing, but far more than that from what I've seen. I can't really share any details though.
@LoganM that's fine, i was just saying that it couldn't be the total votes by different users as if that was the case then very good questions on very popular SE sites would be highly voted when everyone is on at the same time.....or when someone points out a wrong accepted answer on a Meta and everyone who is on at the same time votes it down like shooting a lead balloon
it won't be a case if it's just for one question or answer. but I got several vote for some of my answer and question. they didn't think of it as serial upvoting.
@ʞɹɐzǝɹ you forgot to add twintails
^ NOTE: don't look at this while listening to Working!!'s OP 1 SOMEONE ELSE
3:40 AM
@ton.yeung I just saw that and started reading it.
My sister doesn't like it apparently.
I'm most interested in exactly what the teacher's research project is.
I'm kinda leaning towards quantum processor, but I don't think that would cause a blackout.
cc @LoganM
@ton.yeung The art is pretty good though.
@Yuuki Sorry, what are we talking about?
What physics "genious"?
@LoganM Well, mostly I don't think bumping into a quantum processor would cause a blackout, would it?
I mean, I don't see how.
@ton.yeung Just because we're getting close doesn't mean he can't be working on it. Quantum processing would definitely be revolutionary.
@ton.yeung That actually would make more sense given the blackout.
I just could've sworn I read the word "processor" somewhere in that chapter.
Haven't read it. I usually avoid anything with a lot of math/science since it's typically not very accurate.
@ton.yeung Well, according to Lockheed-Martin, we're getting close on nuclear fusion too.
3:49 AM
I also don't know what a quantum processor is, but I can't see how it could cause a blackout. Really, it's practically impossible for a consumer to cause a blackout, but the only reasonable way to attempt to do it is to use lots of power.
Assuming a quantum processor is some component of a quantum computer, I'd expect it to use very little energy.
@LoganM Well, a local blackout confined to the school.
Depends how the school is wired.
Quantum information science is an area of study based on the idea that information science depends on quantum effects in physics. It includes theoretical issues in computational models as well as more experimental topics in quantum physics including what can and cannot be done with quantum information. The term quantum information theory is sometimes used, but it fails to encompass experimental research in the area. Subfields include: Quantum computing, which deals on the one hand with the question how and whether one can build a quantum computer and on the other hand, algorithms that harness its...
Quantum computing studies theoretical computation systems (quantum computers) that make direct use of quantum-mechanical phenomena, such as superposition and entanglement, to perform operations on data. Quantum computers are different from digital computers based on transistors. Whereas digital computers require data to be encoded into binary digits (bits), each of which is always in one of two definite states (0 or 1), quantum computation uses qubits (quantum bits), which can be in superpositions of states. A theoretical model is the quantum Turing machine, also known as the universal quantum...
If it has its own generator, that's one thing, but most schools use their generators for backup power, and primarily use consumer electricity for everyday needs.
No, not really
Anyway without some context there's no point in me guessing. More likely than not, the author didn't understand the science themselves, so no point in me trying to figure out what they were thinking.
