Ready... Set... Go!

Is it time?

UTC right?

yesterday, by iKlsR
Ok, upcoming event where we try to increase our answer ratio will start tomorrow at 00:00 UTC or 7pm here, probably 8 in the US. Will add more detail later and create the actual event. Basically we want to look for questions (unanswered and answered (accepted as well)) and try to add alternative answers in an attempt to get our answer ration in the green as well. Leave your comments (if any) below. cc @gandalf3 @stacker @David @cegaton @someonewithpc @GiantCowFilms @MarcClintDion @user2859
Thought my clock says it's noon in UTC?

huh

what

I don't understand these timezone things :/

I hate time zones
which is why I propose a petition to stop spinning the earth

lol

I gotta find some time for blender
its been to long
lets see what's new
omg
almost nothing new
oh well
I wasn't gone for too long

Q: Rough vertex curve transform into even curve?

PeterBlender StackExchange, I made this curve in SketchUp and imported it into Blender. I am trying to figure out how I might transform the rough top section into a smoother curve that Blender can handle better... or how I might do it from scratch following the path of the one now. I am not sure how...

bit of a weird question
hmm
why not just do it right the 1st time in sketchup?
someone say something
I surrender
its too late to be awake
good night other side of the solar system

Sorry, wasn't watching the chat..
It's a follow on question to this:

Q: How fill face between irregular curves?

PeterHello Blender Stack Exchange, I am trying to fill a face between 4 surfaces. Two are straight edges and two are a curved line made up of short vertices that came from a SketchUp export. The problem: I select the vertices on the top and bottom and fill the hole. It creates a strange face that ru...

Q: Should questions be answered as a comment?

X-27I have seen many questions that have no official answer, but have been answered and the problem solved from a suggestion in the comments (such as this one I recently answered controling the size of the cloth). Should questions like that be answered as an official answer, or just left the way they...

@gandalf3 This question is abnoxious. Do something blender.stackexchange.com/questions/6085/…

@someonewithpc Yes?

@gandalf3 Sorry about that...

I do that all the time :P
Hm.. I thought that the point of using GLSL was so that you didn't have all those problems that you get with per-vertex lighting........
Reminds me of this

A: Is there a way to render an animation that looks like as if it is rendered with the OpenGL lights (View-port lights)?

gandalf3Can you tell which part is Cycles and which is viewport render? ;) Unfortunately blenders normal ball widgets don't have any way to set values numerically (yet), so you'll have to use some python to get and set the values. Get the default openGL lights from the user-preferences. To do this, ...

:P

@gandalf3 From my understanding, that's the point - to actually get those "artifacts".

But why does the OP want them?

6:35 PM
@gandalf3 Real time?
NPR?

GLSL is realtime
GLSL can be NPR (sometimes even when you don't want it to ;)

@gandalf3 And he wants to use that.

Yes
But why?
*writes comment*

Don't ask me. ask him!
Oh..

Already did ;)

Wasn't there supposed to be an event going on?

I don't know

The answer ratio thing

I thought it was supposed to start yesterday at UTC 00:00, but I don't know when that was/is..
I don't see any scheduled events anywhere..

6:41 PM
@gandalf3 I live at UTC, and I thought it was today...
And compare the length with pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/GLSL
?
You might not speak Portuguese, but you can probably see it's a much shorter page ):

o.O

@gandalf3 I know right?

I guess they need more Portuguese translators..

Yeah...
Let's use google translate, because it works(!)
Side note: Google chrome doesn't recognize google as a proper word

Probably wants to capitalize it?

6:47 PM
indeed

At least, that's what FF does..

Okay, I wanted to prove that Google translator didn't work, by givving it a random sentence from a book; I failed...
Surprisingly, reversing it - aka translating from english to portuguese barely works...

7:51 PM
to make translator fail you have to run it through multiple times.

8:14 PM
oopsies.. I just let the viewport render run and accidentally rendered 7859 samples...
Now I feel obligated to take screenshot, otherwise all the cpu time will go to waste :P

@gandalf3 Lel
@David Are you not american?
@David My point is that it worked to English, but failed from English to Portuguese.

8:43 PM
@someonewithpc @gandalf3 I was busy and didn't get the time to create it.

I am, and I only posted that video because I thought it was a funny example of how it can break.

If I somehow decide to father children in the distant future, they shall not know what a television is.

@iKlsR Why? Television is so much fun(!)

TV turned two of my younger cousins into babbling idiots, all this garbage they show. It's good but when moderated.

@iKlsR I think that's a fail (when you edited)

8:47 PM
@someonewithpc Accidentally pressed the up key and replaced that message.
Fail indeed.

@iKlsR Since you're here, do you want to explain about the event? As in when will it start..

@someonewithpc 00:00 UTC tonight, I explained everything already I think. It will run for a week and I will create a room where we can post questions that we answer or questions that could use an answer.
We got a lot done last time, we raised our percentage answered by 1.49.

@iKlsR Oh.. tonight as in tomorrow, because it's after midnight - I thought it was Today
@iKlsR When was that?

@someonewithpc Well we can't accomodate everyone's timezone so I'll just pick one. That would be 7pm for me on a Sunday.
@someonewithpc Umm, about 2 weeks back.

@iKlsR Oh.. the percent answered one...
@iKlsR I just mean that after at 00:00 it's already the next day. And that would be Monday here...

8:57 PM
@someonewithpc As I said, we are all in different timezones. As with the last one since people would have missed it and the whole point is to collaborate to achieve a goal, it runs for a week. You won't miss anything.

@iKlsR It's on weekdays... I'll do my best

@someonewithpc Same, I have fulltime college but I try to get in some work.

@iKlsR Is the event supposed to be there now?
I don't see anything..

@gandalf3 Haven't created event yet.

k

9:03 PM
Ok it should be up on main now.

 Events

This room is for ongoing site events. There is no ongoing event.
It won't show up in the events tab since it's longer than a day.

It say's it ends in 6 days...
@iKlsR shouldn't it start in 3 hours?

@someonewithpc Fixed.
Any changes you make, anything you see, post it in the room. Thanks.

Anyone here know how rigify works?
I created a meta rig, assigned it to my model with vertex groups (automatic weights), then clicked generate..
But it just seems to dump a bunch of custom shapes at the bottom of the rig
oops, forgot to apply scale
nvm
