Hello! peeps
user116848
Or is it: Hello peeps!
@Cerberus well i'm not going to scold you. ask MrShiny
@MattЭллен double gasp
@Arrowfar I prefer this one.
user116848
I see
user116848
18:15
How are you skull? :)
Fine thanks, how are you?
user116848
I am fine, thanks!
user116848
@IceBoy So, did you find out who flagged that comment yesterday?
Nope.
user116848
Oh
user116848
18:16
okay
user116848
So, mods know of the people who flag?
yes, but they never tell
@JSBձոգչ Right, right! Still, it seems strange to scold people over text without context.
user116848
@IceBoy I see.
@Arrowfar Technically, it should be "Hello, peeps!".
user116848
18:18
@Cerberus I see. okay :D
@Cerberus Why is the comma technically necessary?
@IceBoy One generally uses a comma to separate a vocative from the rest of the sentence.
And "peeps" is a vocative.
My bad
Similarly, one generally uses a comma with exclamations, such as hello.
Hello, Undo.
18:28
oy
user116848
Smokedetector is ike Jarvis, right?
That was a very mysterious line there, "Undo has added SmokeDetector to the list of this room's owners.".
@Arrowfar It's a bot that checks every new question that comes in for signs of spam.
user116848
Ah, that.
But what does a chat bot have to do with questions on the main site?
18:29
Hi @seth lol
oh hi
@Cerberus It posts 'em in chat if it thinks they're spam.
Ohh I see.
That is not such a bad idea.
@Seth who do you like in tonight's game GB-7
@Seth I am looking forward to try out Ubuntu Mate 14.10
18:31
@IceBoy who are they playing again? GB vs/at who? I can't remember.
@WillHunting I'm sure you'll like it :D
Ah, right.
I think GB will win if they can put anything together. I was impressed with how they played in Seattle. If they can do that again I think they'll win. Otherwise I'd say a tossup.
yep, they will cover the 7 ...
or
... it is a tossup :)
As you may have seen, @Undo has implemented a feed to post suspected spam or other undesirable posts to chat. It was my suggestion, so please don't shoot him. Hopefully the posts will get dealt with even more quickly and spammers can be deterred even more.

I’m not sure there’s much you can do When you’ve got a facial tattoo And need to blend in With very white kin You’ll stick out, so go naked too

18:41
@AndrewLeach tough timing on the "Limerick Machine"
user116848
@IceBoy lol
@Arrowfar :D
If the bot gets out of hand/goes insane, ping a moderator (not with a flag), and tell them to remove it from the explicit write access list (chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/info/95/…). That should stop it from posting in here. You can usually find a few in The Assembly.
Or, if you can't find a mod, you can use a moderator only chat flag.
Undo is showing how to undo the bot :)
18:48
yup
can you undo multiplication by zero?
depends.
on what?
Do I have the original number? :P
(no)
I only have the result.
18:51
then nope
so multiplication is not undoable
You say, "If you wanted to undo something, it didn't work."
But, I'm saying: multiplication works.
but undoing it didn't now, did it? ;)
only with zero
Oh, so you managed to tell me what I multiplied to get 50? Sweet!
if you tell me what you multiplied by, then yes...
18:59
@IceBoy Multiplying by zero definitely cannot be undone, because there is an infintely large result set.
yes, zero times any number is zero...and any number are all the real numbers
Why are we talking about this in this room, lol
11 mins ago, by Undo
depends.
@WillHunting why not?

in Mathematics, 6 mins ago, by Ice Boy
in English Language Learners, 4 mins ago, by Damkerng T.
Oh, I have a little survey for all of us here: do you cross your 7?
I cross my Z's
me too
Me too. But not 7. 1 is either nude or seriffed top and bottom to differentiate from 7.
Both the top and bottom? That's rare :)
I tend to either write just a 'naked' 1 (usually in math stuff), but if I'm gonna serif it it's both top and bottom
19:49
I cross Zs and most of my 7s too.
1 is a tossup, depends where it is and what its purpose is.
I used to write my ones naked until I realized what an important number it was, now I always seriff :-)
It is one letter away from being the sheriff of the numbers :D
Would that make it zero's deputy?
20:14
Oops make that two letters sherif has only one f
still a good pun :)
20:44
Nobody here ever crosses z's.
How very Anglo-Saxon of you!
excuse me?
Do you deny it?
I don't even know what that means
Anglo-Saxon?
yes
that's just English, right?
20:47
Anglo-Saxon may refer to: Anglo-Saxons, Germanic tribes that settled down in Britain and founded England Old English, their language Anglo-Saxon England, their history Anglo-Saxon world, modern societies based on or influenced by English customs SS Anglo Saxon, one of various ships White Anglo-Saxon Protestant, an ethnicity Anglo-Saxon economy, modern macroeconomic term == See also == Anglo...
> Anglo-Saxon world, modern societies based on or influenced by English customs
You're not English technically, but you are Anglo-Saxon.
It's odd, isn't it?
Oh, here is Holland. I get it.
And only in some ways.
Not this chat room. Right.
It is!
It would be a rather bold claim to make about this here chat room!
Loads of people have said here that they cross Z.
Including me.
20:49
Hence my astonishment.
Or, rather, interest.
have you ever worked with the variable Z?
Certainly.
Who hasn't?
Without crossing, my Z looks like 2.
2Z=22
Right.
But 2 looks like 5...
And 1 looks like a comma or a bracket...
20:51
and you look like a 3 headed dog :D
You just have to write neatly.
No way!
under time pressure "writing neatly" is the first thing to go out the window my friend
nods

3 hours later…
23:40
@Cerberus Oh, we're at #10!
Yay!
Many people do go to Thailand on vacation.
Including from here.
The people are known to be very friendly.
The weather is tropical.
Indeed! We are!
That, too!
23:50
There are many culturally interesting things to see.
Oh, that, too!
Now, I hate hot weather, but everything else about Thailand I like.
Oh, and the political climate is fairly stable, corruption is moderate, hygiene is reasonable.
Probably, you might like our northern part, like Chiang Mai, where the whether is less hot than Bangkok.
23:52
No crazy religions.
Quite possibly!
Friends of mine went to Bangkok and Chiang Mai last year.
Oh, nice!
They liked it, as everyone does.
I bet!
Did they come here on a festival or something?
How is the political situation now?
I don't know.
I think it's rather stable now.
23:53
OK.
Though it's a bit different from before.
Right, the army is in charge now.
By the way, how much power do you think the King still has?
I'd say as always.
23:54
And how much is that? What could he accomplish, if he really decided to go all out?
I'm not supposed to say much, but we are all grateful that He is our king, and we would do anything for Him.
I see.
