@Undo are you sure a low-rep user (<10 rep) can see comments on a deleted answer? AFAIR that was a handicap in such cases.

If the low-rep user is the owner of the answer, yes they can see the comments.
btw, you running linux/ubuntu @Izzy?
Whoa, new chat autocomplete is awesome.

;p
I was commenting on that earlier on RA

3:20 PM
@Izzy they can see comments, yeah.
They can see the whole answer, too. And IIRC a mod comment within a few minutes of deletion even pings them.
@Seth wait what?
Oooh neat, images!

Just had to test it eh? :P

@Seth Yup!

@Seth Yes, I am.
@Undo Ah, OK. Thanks, then I might remember something wrongly. Good to know: so I don't need to hesitate hammering the "close" button after leaving a comment :)

Right :D

@Undo Huh?
What did I miss with new chat autocomplete here?

3:23 PM
Images

Yeah, so much I've got. Where?
Ah, there #D
LOL

I was hoping to get some testers for my silentcast fork: github.com/Seth-Johnson/silentcast If anyone is interested. It works on my machine and in my VMs, but those are all Ubuntu.

C00l :)
@Seth Lemme see what that is /me is checking Github link

hmm.. I think I have a CentOS ISO laying around. I'll try that too.

3:25 PM
@Izzy You mean you missed the buzz? :O softwarerecs.stackexchange.com/a/11702/86

Maybe I'm over excited about this, but I always used ffmpeg and imagemagik manually to create gifs.. It was a pain.

@Seth: with some polish, it's probably as good as licecap ;p

@JourneymanGeek Never used licecap, but I think you're right!
It is pretty simple, not too much room for bugs.

@Seth: licecap basically does the same as this does in "inside window" mode

3:29 PM
I'm thinking of expanding my patch to use more advanced resolution detection though, since xrandr seems to be the weak link.

@Seth: licecap does precisely what it does in the question ;p

@JourneymanGeek I see that now. I never payed too much attention to that gif.

@Seth Woah! Looks like a really cool screencast tool! Bookmarked immediately. Cannot promise when to do a closer check, though.

A little more polished, but who cares? :P
@Izzy That's fine, no pressure :)

@Seth: I need to try that on the raspi ;p
@Seth: polished/focused ;p

3:32 PM
@JourneymanGeek Ooh, yeah.
@JourneymanGeek Close enough ;)

@Seth Yeah, and "doesn't work in Unity" makes for some extra sympathy bonus points. I hate Unity #D

@Izzy D:
But I fixed that problem!

@Seth Looks like I missed that, yeah... Gotta some work to do as well. And prepare the next edition of my book...

@Seth: funny part is the dev solved the issue I had sight unseen cause my bug report was detailed ;p

3:33 PM
@Izzy talk to you later!

@Seth Oooo, what a pity #D
@Seth Yupp! Looking forward to that!

@JourneymanGeek IKR! I was thinking "If only most AU questions were this detailed".

@JourneymanGeek Don't get me wrong: I love unity, but I hate Unity.

@Izzy: I currently run KDE on fedora ;p

3:35 PM
(i.e. if we show unity it's fine – but if I have to work with Unity, I'm getting crazy)

I hate gnomeshell but I loathe gnome shell ;p

@JourneymanGeek LXDE on Debian/Ubuntu (multiple machines)

@Izzy that's funny, because I get the most work done in Unity xD

@JourneymanGeek Right, got me :)

and Gnome shell drives me up a tree.

3:37 PM
@Seth If @JourneymanGeek had written that, I'd forced him to change his avatar (to a cat) #D

@Izzy haha

@Izzy: I tend to say "Hide under a bed" ;p

Dogs "bark up a tree", but do not climb it ;)

Even if my ava is fearless ;p

:)

3:40 PM
(I'm still amused - this is the second time someone wrote something to solve a problem I have)

what was the first?
I think it is awesome how people have started writing things.

3:52 PM
@Seth I've written an entire website just to be able to search android apps by permissions (a feature often requested at ASE)
Well, OK, not "just for that" – but that was a main reason.

@Izzy Wow.
That's big :)

Using some market API to retrieve package metadata, feeding it to my database, and making it accessible via browser.
If you ever look for an Android app, that should be one of the first places to visit :)

I like the name :D

Thanks! Me too :)
Sound a little like a mix of "Izzy", "Android", and "on steroids" #D

3 hours later…
