ciao @kle

@geomo You just did.

I'm really liking SEDE : data.stackexchange.com/codereview/query/169776/… <-- updated slightly to put user's rep and activity in

i see many time same user edit question .. this increase the reputation in same way ?

@geomo was that user Jamal?

no.. in general i spoke

4:02 PM
@geomo If a user has < 1000 reputation, that user gets +2 reputation for the edit.
users who have >= 1000 reputation can make edits to any post without them needing to be approved by other community members first.

Once the user surpasses 1000, the edit still counts as activity toward the Strunk&White badge, or the Copy Editor badge

so.. if he change . with , increase this reputation.. i understand now

@geomo the edit has to be approved before the +2 rep is allowed
That means that 2 people with > 1000rep ave to think the edit was worth while

and is possible see the change in the question ?

In general, all the edits I have approved have been edits I wou have made myself anyway
On any question, you can look at its history, yes.

4:06 PM
wait.. i talk about edit the question of other user

Click on the circled link

i see
but i dont ask for my question.. is in genaral

You should be able to see these revisions on any question
(if it was edited)

edited tags .. but i dont see the differenc.e :)

Sometimes that is all that is edited (the tags)

4:12 PM
Hmm... seems like I've upset someone....
A little help here, @rolfl?
I also noted your profile: You're clearly not very important if your main language is Delphi and you've stuck to javascript and some SDK's. You're self-important and arrogant @SimonAndréForsberg , i'd recommend trying to be helpful rather than down-voting a reasonable questions posted in the right place. You're as useless as dirt to the programming community; i'd recommend going into cake-icing. — Sean 12 mins ago

Q: Checking login from associative array vulnerabilities

user3287849For a very simple databaseless website, I'm using an associative array to store logins like this: $logins = array( 'user' => 'password', 'user2' => 'password2', ); Later I check them with this code: $user = strtolower($_POST['username']); $pass = $_POST['password']; if(!isset($logins[$user]) ...

@SimonAndréForsberg sure ...

I also added another comment there.

I see that... I would recpommend you remove it ... ;-)
Stay away, move on, and let the mods sort it out

Q: Any Alternative Solution for this very slow code?

Mawia HLI am using the following code for calculating ranking and it is working great for not large data. But when it comes to large data, processing time takes almost a minute. Please can anyone suggest a better way or atleast a faster way to put the same mysql statement? SELECT id, Names, TOTALSCORE,...

4:25 PM
I don't sound upset in my new comment I hope?

No, you don't, but it is my experience that, when people have it in their minf to think/feel a certain way, there is nothing but frustration involved in changing their attitude.
Engaging with them is neither fun nor profitable, which makes it not worth your while
The people who'se opinions matter to you will not be influenced by jerks being jerks

+1 :)

True that, rolfl. I removed my comment for now.

Oh, I did flag that comment as offensive, which it is, and I invite anyone who agrees with me to flag it as well ;-)

@rolfl i have think too much about you answer and if isn't a problem for you i need ask you one thing becouse i want are sure before doing some change in the structure of database

4:30 PM
Ahh,,, apparently the mods agreed with me, and it's gone
@geomo sure

you have time now ? i dont want bagging you

Just so you know, that you can do that transformation as part of a view, select, or even in the application....

i dont understand .. sorry.. i'm italian :)

I presume you are talking about the AUTO_INCREMENT column... right?

yep

4:33 PM
The AUTO_INCREMENT is useful to keep unique records unique... but it is not useful to present the information you want to present in the format you want it.

ok.. this is clean

You want 2014/????? where ???? is the number of the record in that year.

my question is : you suggestin make a 2 table.. without AUTO column..

First you have to ask yourself 'do I need to store the value 2014/123456 in the actual database?

but if 2 users arrived at the same time they do the same and they bring the same number from the 2 table.. the same problem.. or not ?

4:36 PM
Let's back up a bit.
Do you understand why you can't calculate a unique value the way you wanted to in your question?

ok.. i cyes
yes

Q: Sharing Backbone.Model state across multiple WebViews using postMessage

PrinzhornI'm using AppGyver Steroids for a mobile app, which basically allows you to nicely structure your PhoneGap app into multiple pages with native navigation bar. Since the app is split into multiple separate WebViews/pages, I need to sync the data across all these pages. It's not possible to have a...

Right, so, we need a way to generate a unique value that is guaranteed work even when there are lots of people inserting data at once.
The AUTO_INCREMENT is that way.

perfect

There are other ways to do it, but they involve database transactions, and locking, and they slow things down.
But, AutoIncrement does not help you to create values like year/number

4:39 PM
nope but i dont need this
i have edit my question and insert a table structure

OK, in your queestion you said:
> i can't use it because i don't want number order 1234567 after 5 years but i want 1/2014 , 1/2015 etc etc.

correct

Autoincrement will not give you 1/2014 2/2014 3/2014, etc.

i have column numberOrder AND column yearId.. separated

Ahh, an updated question... OK.

4:42 PM
i show the values in this way echo numberOrder '7' yearId

So, how are you putting values in to those columns

'/'
are separated values
in 2 differnt column of table

hey @rolfl and more and @all
and darn 21 upvotes is still quite some

but the question is : you suggesting me -> create second table for the unique "fake" id order (numberOrder in the order table).. who can i do this if in the second table there isn't an AUTO column ?
i think is a dog who eat is tail :D

Do you think it's allowed on SO to create a Q&A all by myself on something I think will be of use for loads of people in the future? Would give me over time quite some points I guess

5:02 PM
@geomo have a look at: sqlfiddle.com/#!2/712ce/4/0

i go

Now, that system describes having a second table, but, it will need to be updated 1 time each year.
You can do it without the table, but then you will need to have a select min(id) - 1 from MyData where year = 2014 each time you insert a record.

wow.. awesome.. you doing this in this little time ? ...wow
rain man :)

hehe ... does it show you the concepts that I mentioned in my answer?

yes.. offecorse .. he do

5:09 PM
I know there is a 'disconnect' between the load of the data in to your table, and the updating of the YearMinId...

@skiwi If you want an entire Q&A site, you can suggest one at area51.stackexchange.com

but now there is AUTO in the second table.. i say to you.. without a AUTO no way for have unique id

But, your PHP code can check to see of the table is up to date, and the first PHP script each year will update the table (actually the first script to run successfully).
Correct, the table with the actual data in it will always have the auto_increment... that is what makes the record unique.
The actual numberorder value is calculated from the auto_increment id
(which is what makes it unique too)

now i save a copy of your kob and i study him well.. before make a dister in my db ;)

@SimonAndréForsberg I meant just posting a question and putting an answer under it ;)

hi!

if you come in Italy you are my guess for the best pizza that you never eat before :)

wow @SimonAndréForsberg you hit something!
a) It's under "best practice" ; b) You clearly didn't read my question. I noted that they both did the same thing, I know they both do the same thing. I MADE THEM BOTH. There is no need to be an asshole. Next time, i'd recommend reading a question. I simply asked which of the two people would prefer to see, this is a code review. — Sean 1 hour ago

@Mat'sMug That is the lesser of two comments....

@geomo I am traveling to Italy soon!

There is only one person on the net who really got my pip.... and, he's now still doing the same thing, but SE loves him

5:21 PM
Never really tried working with cake icing.. if I would be allowed to eat the cakes, I'd probably enjoy it.

@syb0rg where you come ?

This new user needs enough rp to upvote :-) codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/43219/…

@geomo Florence, Rome... my family is really just going to travel all over.

FWIW cake icing is much harder than finding the correct sprite in a sprite sheet.

Florence is my favourite italian city

Venice, Naples, Rome, Sorento ... all missed the cut

@Mat'sMug Would have been better if he said monkey-drunk.

I never made it properly to the North though,, I wanted to head to Milan, and the Italian alps.

@rolfl I really like your answer to the recent Java question where you suggested Future.get(), I didn't know it worked in that way (waiting until finish and the ExecutionException). That could possibly help me with some code at work.
I just thought that it returned whatever was returned, or null if it hadn't completed yet.
Apparently I haven't read up enough on the Javadoc for Future.

Future, really, is quite helpful ;-)

I love ExecutorServices, but I wasn't aware of this. Normally I just use the runnables.

there is a way for know who are the users with location Italy ?

Between the eception handling and the return value, it;'s what Runnable should have been to start with ;-)

@geomo naah, that one is simple... there are two queries here I am actually proud of....

@rolfl I must say that the Swedes are more active than I thought, data.stackexchange.com/codereview/query/172174/ikea-people

@rolfl your stab at "time to answer" was quite impressive too

@rolfl You just said that Future's are quite useful in Java... For what if I may ask? I've never have used them yet :o

Alice has a box full of cookies that she stores in her drawer

Oh, a question? For me? Nice!

Anonymous
Bob goes to her drawer and steals all the cookies from the cookie box and saves them in the closet

6:28 PM
Hmm... where is this going?

@rolfl I forked the "where in the world are CR users" query and added an OrderBy to show active users first:

Anonymous
Where will Alice look for her cookies?

Assuming Alice isn't aware that Bob has stolen her cookies, she will probably look for them in the drawer.

Anonymous
@SimonAndréForsberg :)

Anonymous
good choice

6:30 PM
Did you have a point in there some where?

@SimonAndréForsberg Sadly I do not program in C# nor se emuch reason to do so :o

wasn't that obvious?

Anonymous
@Mat'sMug he likes C#

I meant Alice and her cookies

Anonymous
so no

6:31 PM
@skiwi I've only used C# once recently, for a weekend challenge. Just to try something new.

@SimonAndréForsberg where is Posts.Id in the query ? O.o

Why the heck should Bob steal the cookies??

But if Alice was storing a reference to the cookies' location then she'll go straight to the closet and find them ;)

@Vogel612 because Bob works for awful Eve

@skiwi No, the Ultimate Tic Tac Toe is still the current challenge. The mug and I thought that it would be a bit early to create a new one already (especially since @syb0rg hasn't fixed all the bugs, and I'm still not entirely happy with my code design)

I haven't touched my UTTT project in like 3 weeks!

yeah.. shame on me

guess I'll wait then

6:35 PM
Although without the context of a coding challenge, that sentence really could be misunderstood...

hmm My System.out.println()'s don't print out things anymore

I'll also probably use Java 8 next time

Q: binary numbers game

Oz123I wrote a little command line nerdy game, which helps you learn the basics of binary numbers, I would be happy to hear your comments: #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <string.h> #include <time.h> #define CHARSIZE 10 void printbitssimple(int); void createbitshape(int, char[]); int...

@PatoSáinz - for what it's worth, the NT4 box is probably more reliable than the physical trains, tracks, and staff... especially when put together
