2:02 AM
are you trying to customize it?

@Seth yuppers

oh

instead of that silly orange on purple
:P

I don't have Orange..

:P
@Seth me saw that, it said 11.04, so me got scared, do you think it would equally work?

2:07 AM
Well it was updated for Oneiric..

@Seth ?

I dunno.

me is trying solution
@Seth it couldn't find the package, any other suggestions?
@Nile Grrrr...... :P

@coding_corgi yeah?

How's the mac doing?
@Nile Went to a new apple store today, and i saw the fan, so sneaky!

2:16 AM
@coding_corgi Haha, yeah.

@Nile mmm... what else? Oh yeah, the new connector, what's it called?

@coding_corgi Lightning?

@Nile spelling error, but, yes...
They have a chip in the cable that the rip off people can re-create

I don't have that, though. It came out the the model after mine. But I'm pretty sure that the plugs are the same

so that's why you don't see a cheaper crapier version of the cable
@Nile do you understand what i am saying? :P

2:19 AM
@coding_corgi No.

I'm saying there's a little chip in the cable people cant figure out how to copy

@coding_corgi Oh, okay.

so people can't make a cheaper version of the cable

Apple didn't invent the chip. They buy it from a supplier
Semtech

@Chan-HoSuh True that. Why, are you an apple/efi? expert?

2:23 AM
@Chan-HoSuh whatever
the point is they can't recreate it
@Nile if he is, he deserves all the geek respect in the world :P
APPLE SHALL RULE THE WORLD!!! LONG LIVE STEVE!!! :P

But, really, are you?

I sense someone having EFI problems :-) ... sorry to say I am not an expert in any way. :(

@Chan-HoSuh Tell me, I don't have a cell phone yet, and i am thinking of getting the the iPhone 6 before school starts, do you know anything about that?

@Chan-HoSuh Aw man. Know anyone that is?

@Chan-HoSuh he is.. :P
@Nile SPELLING ERROR!!!

2:25 AM
iphone 6? haha, I don't know more than anyone else about that
I like the way they're going to make the entire case holographic though.

@Chan-HoSuh shoot...
@Chan-HoSuh ha ha...

@Nile, what are you trying to do with Apple and an EFI?

Q: Error: partition table requires a separate partition for boot loader code (EFI issue)

NileThe Issue I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 (64-bit, Mac alternate) on my 13" MacBook Pro (model 7,1. Mid-2010). The MacBook Pro is running OSX 10.8.3 and I'm trying to make it dual-bootable (i.e., so I can boot into Ubuntu or OSX). When booting from the live CD and selecting "Try Ubuntu," I ma...

@Chan-HoSuh ha ha...
@Chan-HoSuh trying to explode a Mac... Such cruelty... :D

so I ran into a similar error recently when installing on an old Macbook

2:29 AM
@Chan-HoSuh and and and?

@Chan-HoSuh What did you do?
@Nile ha ha, hilarious!

the installer seems to insist on creating that bios partition or having you tell it one
the way I resolved it was just to tell it to install to the EFI partition on my OS X portion of my disk
I was worried for a while it would overwrite whatever was in the default EFI partition

@Chan-HoSuh would you mind writing up an answer so I can give it a try later/ (+150 bounty if it works)

@Chan-HoSuh hmm.....

FYI - I'm trying to dual boot

2:30 AM
but then I remembered that the OS X doesn't actually need anything in the EFI partition

@Nile Whoah! @Lucio is a nice guy
3

even if it is blank, OS X will boot

@Chan-HoSuh That's what i love about apple... tear tear

well, I'll try and remember to add a comment at least to your question... I'm about to head off to sleep
but I hope what I said will help you figure it out

@Chan-HoSuh Okay, thanks a lot.
Night

2:33 AM
@Nile ha ha ha.... It just seems... So movie like... Just another (almost) happy ending....
@Chan-HoSuh Good night

good night, everyone

@Lucio it doesn't find the packages

2:42 AM
@coding_corgi give me the output please
@Nile Hi there! I don't understand your question/advice.

I don't want to enable, I want to disable ctrl alt backspace
there must be some bug
cuz in System->Preferences->Keyboard it already is disabled
"dontzap" isn't installed, and it seems counter-intuitive to install it in oder to disable this shortcut
help, plz.

Eddie BrewerSo, I am new to Ubuntu. I just installed it, I and everything. I go to download my Wamp or Xampp servers, Spotify or Adobe's Flash Player. I get suggestions of .zip, .ga or something... Am I allowed to tell a person to please go back to windows?
HEY! that was my question about @FEichinger

@Rinzwind ♥
@Rinzwind I'm writing up a more general answer on what to look for right now.
I've tried my best.
0
A: How do I download?

FEichingerLet me preface this with saying that this answer will be messy, will cause information overflow and will make you beg for Windows back. You are very unexperienced, which is in general a really bad situation when starting out with Linux. While Ubuntu tries to make things as simple as possible, som...

But this is ... There's a fundamental lack of experience on the asker. That's ... Really tough to boil down to something that is remotely easy to understand.

1:04 PM
@FEichinger pleasedo not point user to xampp :X

@Rinzwind User asked for that. I'm simply answering what the user asked for.

sudo apt-get install tasksel
tasksel
Is easier and ubuntu pre-configured
No @FEichinger that user does not know what he is asking ....
even experienced users should use our lamp :=)

@Rinzwind The user is somewhat familiar with xampp - that's a bonus it has over tasksel. I also tried to keep it as CLI-free as possible. Quite honestly, in this situation less new stuff is better.
That said, you can answer it yourself, or comment with an amendment to my answer.

And for me the only way is the Ubuntu way.
Nope I refuse to answer that >:D

Then don't complain. :P

1:08 PM
I have a concept ready but it became a rant very quickly so aint posting it

@Rinzwind Yeh, I decided half-way through to add that disclaimer at the start.

>:)
I propose Ubuntu starts issueing certificates for its users.
If you can not find USC within 3 seconds in your launcher you fail and internet access is blocked

And the lack of gksu just made this even harder.

pkexec >:)

@Rinzwind In all honesty, since I jumped ship for Ubuntu GNOME, I really didn't bother getting familiar with pkexec. Never needed it.

We got the 3rd certification for our software.
(we had till aug 1st to get it certified and the examiners said we where the quickest :D )

pah - certificates call for re-certificates. That's what they are all about.

Not in this case ;-)
Unless we change our code drastically >:)

nobody does. You better stop all support, release a better completely different version, and make them buy the same again (and again, and again).

nope we have a licensing model >:D

I don't know, it's my name.. haha
Anyways, can't talk now

@Seth Do you use jQuery?

Sometimes.

Where should I put JavaScript functions inside a jQuery.ready() ??
I have a file with this:

@Lucio when playing with the DOM

function blabla(){ stuff }
@Jeremy I've ruined my explanation :'(

@Mateo it must be an Operative System

A BSD based Operating System.

@Jeremy I want to have all the code in one file

so... off-topic?

@Lucio then just put the functions from file one next to the functions in file 2..
@Mateo I think so..

but the second file doesn't have functions, it has statements

7:49 PM
@Lucio those are equivalent ways of defining functions.

@Seth Asking just in case it was like cinnamon or something.

@Seth I did but it doesn't work. Let my try again
No, it doesn't work at all..

define "doesn't work"

I'm doing it :D

What did you expect to happen and what actually happened?

7:51 PM
writing
I call the functions from HTML like this, just an example:
<input onkeyup="processInput(this); />"

@Lucio Ah, no!
Assign listeners in the Javascript, not inline.
You're using jQuery, so that should be especially easy.

@Lucio no you don't >:)

No, because I'm also using PHP scripts, and it makes the first don't work..
haha

lol

PHP always makes the first stop to work as expected..

7:54 PM
First, why are you even using PHP? You should totally stop that and try jQuery.

So no theory please, I want the things to work
@Seth @NathanOsman Will respond you :P

(sorry, I had to XD)

Yes, I would do that too if I were in your shoes..

Forget about PHP, it ruins everything.

@Lucio Or you ruin everything with the PHP ;) (i.e., PEBKAC). That aside, can you pastebin the issue (make sure to isolate the problem, though)

@Seth I would replace Unknown to unsigned

@Seth PHP is a server-side language. jQuery is a client-side JavaScript framework.

I'd repeat. Forget about PHP.
@NathanOsman thanks :)

@NathanOsman I know.. I was trying to make a joke on everyone's dislike of PHP and the jQuery meme. Unfortunately it was lost on everyone.
