I love to volunteer the community by serving as a moderator. But, most of my posts in the first days of my membership in this site was badly objected by the moderators then. Moreover some of my suggestions were not really interesting for the members. That is I sometimes think the community does not want me or has bad feeling about me.
So decided to post less content and help the community by reviewing the posts, close votes, flags, etc. That is all I have done through my 5 years presence here. Everybody should help this community grow. Not necessarily by having moderation tools and even not

@EnthusiasticEngineer Well, how do you see these problems now? For example, would you consider those events beginner’s mistake or do you still think that you have irreconcilable objections to the policies of our community or SE in general? I have certainly performed some well intended but bad actions in my early days. There is no shame in that.

I'm considering putting my name up as well.

@PeterJansson @henning @Buzz @gman @Scientist @Anyon @MassimoOrtolano @EnthusiasticEngineer @BrianTompsett-汤莱恩 @Flyto @BobBrown: In light of the shortage of candidates for the upcoming election, I somewhat systematically selected users who are currently engaging in community moderation and similar activities and pass a few other criteria for moderatorship. This list is not free of false positives or negatives. Anyway, please feel nudged.

I quite like the idea but I am busy trying to save my professional & personal life. Probably won't be able to participate much... But Thanks for remembering me!

@Wrzlprmft @Wrzlprmft can you give any indiciation of the amount of time commitment? I imagine substantial, since AIUI the reason for recruiting moderators is that the existing moderators are finding it too much? ;-) I'm interested in principle, but I'm about to relocate and start a new job, so time is likely to be v limited for the next 6-12 months.

@SemidiurnalSimon There's some mention of the workload in the meta thread here: academia.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/4534/…

THere is, but it focusses on how much there is to do, rather than how long it takes.
@Wrzlprmft I do not relate those actions to bad social environment here, this community and all other SE sites have perfect foundation to provide conversation, growth and dialogue. A newcomer ideas and rapid actions (by me) was badly objected by moderators (in my opinion and this is not what community thinks), which I still believe could be better responded, narrated or even talked by moderators who had higher privileges of administration.
If I were in admin position then, I would put more time talking to this enthusiastic new comer in a chatroom to help him understand there is no need to raise for instance, 30 off-topic flags which were raised simply to help questions to be in better condition, or help him understand that he should not edit lots of posts each day which is a disaster pulling down new posts by older posts edited. I remember they wanted to deactivate my account for some days!
By the way, I give equal weight to both sides, I had to wait to get more familiar to this community and admins (in my opinion) should have been more patient and narrative to this new comer instead of creating an objecting force by many against one. Although I do not like those early days, I always appreciate how mature, patient and tolerating admins @eykanal and @StrongBad were. At least, if these guys were not here, I would have leaved this site forever.
@Wrzlprmft I firmly think that @jakebeal is one this community's best users who is perfect for an admin role here. I do not know whether s/he has time for this but s/he is so valued and did lots of contribution to our site.
Also I encourage @MassimoOrtolano to get involved in this admin elections. I feel he also is a good person to accept this role. He has lots of ideas to contribute as an admin here.

@SemidiurnalSimon I would say at a minimum of checking once a day to see if there are flags or any pressing issues. Worse case to clear flags and deal with issues is probably 30 minutes. The rest of the time is just being a good user.
