I'm hoping to talk with vol7ron about this post as the comments are starting to get a little long
Hi @scohe001!
Hey hey!
I wanted to talk specifically about "Other sites aren’t removing original content, they’re reducing redundancy and duplicity. That’s not really censorship, is it?" as I feel like that's a pain point where a lot of user frustration comes from. We're deleting original content, right? But so are other sites (from what I've seen).
Answers/questions aren't only deleted/closed because they're redundant or duplicitous. Answers that are just commenting on the question are deleted. And questions, no matter how well written, are still closed if they're off-topic for the site (which we see a lot of in the form of "This and this happened in my life, what can I do to fix things?") I don't really see this as censorship, but as keeping the site healthy, clean and usable.
It feels to me like a very similar problem that SO is having with the whole "Be more welcoming" wagon.

Hi! Just dropping here to say that we might just need to rephrase to 'does IPS moderate comments differently' to yes. Because technically, our strict adherence to using comments for what they're for and nothing else might be experienced as very different from what people are used to on other sites.

Or just scrap the rethorical question and rephrase it to a big, bold 'You can expect your comments to be moderated more fast and strict than you may be used to'.

@Tinkeringbell Yea, I was waiting to have a conversation with vol7ron to try to make sure I have all of their thoughts and ideas straight, but I am planning to rewrite that answer (and maybe parts of the question) to focus more on "So why do people think we moderate things differently?"
Cool, I'll be waiting then :)
Thanks for the critique tho!

@scohe001 Thank you for writing the post so I could critique it :P

There you are @Tink. I gave it a makeover. Let me know if you think I should be more (or less) direct with any of it
Looks better to me :)

Lets see what @vol7ron thinks of it now though, they're the kind of audience you're writing for ;)
That's true :)
