hi
ok got the first step...
micsthepick
my phone is acting up
Anush
it looks like in my puzzle the arrow is 2x2 and the horizontal piece below it is 1x2
ah ok
I see your step 2 now
I have to go but you have helped a lot! thank you
micsthepick
ok, have a good one!
(I'll just upload the last few images here)
Anush
09:05
thanks!
where did you get your puzzle from?
and does it have a name?
micsthepick
I actually received it from relatives, so I can't answer that
also, I got myself stuck trying to solve it, so I might take a while
there should be a manual that comes with it, but I haven't been able to find this one's
Anush
09:19
it's quite a fiendish puzzle!
micsthepick
09:50
thinking back, I believe I made a solver for this puzzle, I'll look through my code
Anush
sounds very interesting
micsthepick
I found it
I feel tempted to push it to a public git repo, I'll check that it works first
interesting trivia: apparently the configuration you started at is similar to the forget me not configuration
Anush
what is the "forget me not configuration"
if you have code, do you know the smallest number of moves possible to solve it?
12 hours later…
micsthepick
22:11
ok, my solver spat out a solution in 116 steps
(it counts two moves in the same direction as, well two moves)
(no guarantee of it being the shortest solution)
micsthepick
22:23
in fact my solver is a depth first search, so it would not find the shortest solution
turns out I had a breadth first version, but it also gave me 116 steps
(when I fed it the correct input)
