Soyuz about to launch! ::: spaceflightnow.com/live
posted on February 05, 2014

On Feb. 5, 1974, NASA's Mariner 10 mission took this first close-up photo of Venus. Made using an ultraviolet filter in its imaging system, the photo has been color-enhanced to bring out Venus's cloudy atmosphere as the human eye would see it. Venus is perpetually blanketed by a thick veil of clouds high in carbon dioxide and its surface temperature approaches 900 degrees Fahrenheit. Laun

@Stu aye, it's already in our room's schedule and in community bulletin
I'll post links to live streams as they become available ;)
@Stu Soyuz launcher, Progress vehicle/payload. Stupid nomenclature!
In a good hour
Stu
Stu
nomenclature can be a very good thing

@Stu What's those thrusters in your new avatar? I can't make them out the icon is too small

F1 engine cluster test.. not sure when/where though
Live streams for the launch of Soyuz / Progress 54P are now available on NASA TV, NASA HD on USTREAM, SpaceflightNow on LiveStream and raw streams on TSENKI from Baikonur. Launch is scheduled for 16:23:34 GMT (11:23:34 a.m. EST), with NASA TV Coverage starting at 16:00 GMT (11 a.m. EST)

first cluster test was in Huntsville, AL. Thanks for the links
sure, we always post links to launch streams here ... if there's someone watching them or not :)
Stu
Stu
yea I like to catch them when I can, no matter the launch. If you post some of the big launches (SpaceX, for example, for popular NASA missions) to places like HackerNews they will get a lot of clicks.
15:31
@Stu Ah it's just so we can discuss launches here for whoever is interested. If they are, they'll find us ;)

@TidalWave true!

T - 10 minutes
about (depends on which stream you're on LOL)
I was out shovelling a ton of heavy snow. 6 inches, topped with rain/freezing rain, so just HEAVY!
@geoffc we had ice rain a few days ago, took out nearly half of the country but luckily nothing where I am
I mean we had snow and rain and more snow but it didn't freeze that bad and no ice rain
Stu
Stu
yea Chicago is getting tons of snow right now. getting to work was a huge mess
cant wait for spring
some other parts tho are still without electricity as some towers collapsed due to excess weight
And we have another storm coming on Sunday! Yippee! Another 10-12 inches of snow.
16:18
not sure what's the forecast for here but they did issue a warning for the next two days
quite a bit of wind in Baikonur
Stu
Stu
what chities are you in?
@Stu I'm from Europe ... one of the unpronounceable ones
Stu
Stu
currently -10 degrees F in Baikonur
I wonder how well nitrogen purge works in big wind
launcher looks ok tho they de-iced it nice
T - 00:01:45
Stu
Stu
yea, i am sure they have done many many launches in these conditions
16:23
yup many
was even much worse a few times
ignition
liftoff
Stu
Stu
hmm i wonder if they need to roll the launcher at all
max Q coming up
yeah I have about 10 seconds delay on HD stream
maybe 20 seconds
it's not really a HD stream either so I'm not really sure why I opened that one :)
tomorrow's launch should be much better to follow online, those streams from Kourou are usually much better quality, if you're not too annoyed that they tend to present it with a lot of self-praise and 90% of it seems like a long ad
