@JonEricson hmmm I think it would then simply be better to keep "dust" and have it as another synonym to the other two "space-dust" and "cosmic-dust" because they would pop-up as suggestions to use instead of, and the other two prefixes hopefully suggest there are other "dust" possible related tags. Maybe we could edit their descriptions such that it's even more clear, mention "regolith" in the description of the others. Another option is of course we simply don't complicate and retag ourselves.
@Undo I agree with both. The question needs some rephrasing and reflect space application in the title, but it is an important aspect of current tech we're sending up there and conditions to rechargeable batteries are a lot different than at normal atmospheric pressure
@TildalWave OK, thanks!
I'm leaning on the not-here side, but that's just me
But it does read almost like spam for the moment... I know, it's just awkward wording and we probably all do it - well, not mods obviously, we're infallible :P
I guess @Pearson wasn't wearing his hat at the moment of writing it :)
@TildalWave If dust is a synonym for regolith, it will be suggested if you start to type "dust". So will space-dust (or cosmic-dust if that's the canonical tag). Try asking a "Cascading Style Sheets" question on SO, to see what I mean.
Oh - I forgot that the diamond is the pinnacle of perfection. Now that I look at it, the battery question is the best question on the site and everything else is rubbish :D
@JonEricson Ah yes you're right. OK, then as you said. :)
@Undo hehehe yes it's the "ask not what your country can do for you..." paradigm ;)

@TildalWave Input needed: What Meta.SO memes could I use on a loading screen for my app?
so you should be asking how can you improve the question so you can then feel confident in upvoting it :=)
Other than the obvious waffles and unicorns, of course.
@Undo I'm not the best one to ask this, I didn't even know about the waffles one until you used it in mod nominations... and I still laugh every now and then when getting 404's
but I'm fairly familiar with Sec.SE memes
@TildalWave Well, what are some Sec.SE memes? I'll take anything I can get!

Q: The Memes of IT Security

Andrey BotalovThere are memes common to whole Stack Exchange. But after spending some time in The DMZ it becomes evident that IT Security has it's own memes (e.g. rory). I therefore propose that this space be used to document the memes endemic to IT Security's culture. One meme per answer please.

@TildalWave Thanks!

I have problem finding how would artificial satellite based interplanetary communications relay orbits be called? Double-synchronous orbit? Fully synchronous orbit? What I mean is you have 2 satellites, each in orbit around different planets, and they have such orbits that they always face each other, so probably both Sun locked and their perihelion and aphelion adjusting for planetary orbital position and radial velocity. I'm not sure this is even possible, but would like to get an overview.

Q: Could we possibly have a site glossary?

EveryoneThis is my reply to How should abbreviations be handled?. It is here posted as a dedicated question for the site community to discuss, and hopefully (+: approve. If the Stackexchange framework supports the process the site glossary may be a blog-post, or even simply a specific question with the ...

@TildalWave i added a tag wiki now :)

@PearsonArtPhoto hi its a great pleasure to talk to you :)
How's it going?
@PearsonArtPhoto its great
@PearsonArtPhoto there are still many tags without tag wiki
There are quite a few.
@PearsonArtPhoto but there are many in last pages
11:41
Honestly, I just don't care that much about tag wikis. The short blurbs, I care a bit, the main body, not really at all...

13:38
@Hash - if you want to write tag wikis, there is a badge for it, I think
@RoryAlsop i don't know about that :D
Recently AlenSE accepted my answer to a bounty question as correct but i have not received the bounty point is there anything behind this ?
@Hash Bounties are independent of acceptance.
Is Deer Hunter back?

@Undo that sounds great
:-(
@Hash What?
14:28
@Undo will there be any other separate option to offer the bounty points ?
@Hash The bounty will get awarded to whoever the bounty-er chooses. If they don't choose someone, then the highest-voted answer will get half of it.
@Hash See this:

Q: How does the bounty system work?

A. Rex What is a bounty? What is the "Featured" tab on the homepage? How can I search for questions that have a bounty attached? How do I start a bounty? When can I start a bounty? How long is the bounty period? How do I award a bounty? Can I award a bounty to my own answer? Can I award a bounty to an ...

14:47
@Undo thanks that helpped me a lot :)
15:46
@PearsonArtPhoto Yup, we should worry more about the Q&A, and tag wikis can be answers on their own. We'll deal with that after graduation, it'd be IMO an awful waste of our human resources if we tried to make a Space Exploration bible in those tag wikis. Excerpts should do for the time being ;)

So, y'all planning to earn the research assistant badge... Eh? Mmmm...
17:08
So anyway:
what a lovely sight
@RoryAlsop Indeed.
Question: How did Pearson figure out that this edit was plagarization? Google it? Are weird line breaks a giveaway?
Or: what is the recommended procedure for finding plagarization?
@Undo the usual route is to google for the exact text, if it looks unlike that users normal language usage
Seems like something that should be built into the system - a little warning that says something like a search for this exact text yeilded x results
Tag excerpts should be long enough to be unique in the interwebs, right? Googled with quotes, it shouldn't turn up anything.
@Hash Could I have a word with you?
17:21
@Undo I think he always checks, I've seen him reject for that reason before
not sure if it was here on another site
@JohnB I can see global review history, and yes, it appears he always checks.
@JohnB Think it would be good to mention it to Hash?
Just kind of a heads-up thing
@Undo probably, since I don't think you are notified if your suggestion gets rejected. He probably doesn't know what he is doing is wrong
@Hash Looking through your suggestion history, it seems that many of your recent edits have been rejected for plagarization - copying content that other people wrote, and not giving them credit.
For example, your edit to the cosmic-radiation tag excerpt says this:
> Questions regarding cosmic radiation which is a very high-
> energy particles mainly
> originating outside the Solar
> System
A Google search for that text in quotes turns up this:
> Cosmic rays are very high-energy particles, mainly originating outside the Solar System.[1]
From this, it appears that you copied most of the excerpt suggestion straight from Wikipedia.
It's not a terribly huge thing, but it really should stop - you/we could conceivably get in legal trouble if the original authors of the content found out.

I am hungry
Thanks - it's nice having a mod around to nuke things.
@JohnB I recommend cookies.

You should bring some cookies tomorrow monday.

50 helpful flags!
@Undo re that last flag. The procedure is to simply flag it as low quality, and it will then enter the low quality review queue for others to review it. When they'd be reviewing it, they have an option to add comments from the selection of templates, one of which very similar to the one I just posted a comment on that answer. ;)
> While this link may answer the question, it is better to include the essential parts of the answer here and provide the link for reference. Link-only answers can become invalid if the linked page changes.
This is one template... and the system checks that others haven't already posted this comment, so it doesn't duplicate.
Of course, you can always just add the comment on your own :P
18:20
@Tildal 1. Probably not a good idea to publicize people's flags (I'm fine with it, but others may not be) 2. The very low quality flag option doesn't show on positively voted posts. 3. Comments bear more weight coming from mods - I'm a lowly user.
But yes, I probably should have at least left a comment :)
@Undo 1. don't worry about it, raising a flag is not a declaration of hostility towards the post 2. oh 3. you might be right there
@Undo there's no such thing as "lowly users" on SEx.SE... unless of course you meant "lovely users", then I'd have to agree
BTW don't forget we have the LADEE launch tonight (well, early tomorrow morning for the other side of The Pond)
18:40
@TildalWave which side of the Pond are you on?
@JohnB the right one
as in the correct one or the right side?
both :P
how dare you!!
hehe
@JohnB you're west coast, right?
18:45
@TildalWave East, it's currently 14:44 here
@JohnB if you're anywhere at least semi-close to Virginia then you might be able to see it launch on your night skies... night launches are pretty cool because of that IMO
@TildalWave few hours north unfortunately!
then you'll have to settle with watching a live stream... anyway, it won't be Saturn V, but since it's NASA's mission, it's still getting a lot of press
BTW that JAXA's Epsilon launch... the countdown was aborted because of the timestamp discrepancy of 0.07 seconds between the onboard flight computer and the control center receiving telemetry data

I’ve been posting rather a lot of these announcements lately, as we’ve worked to increase the size of our team to where we can actually do our jobs and still occasionally sleep. So I’m gonna cut right to the chase: we hired Kevin “Lord Popular Demand Torgamus” Chang!

Kevin lives on the east coast of the US, not too far from where he grew up. He’s been working as a software developer until now, starting out on the network on Stack Overflow until he found MSO. He liked MSO because it was kind of like SE sites for psychology, UX, communication, HCI and programmi …

Q: No sense of humor when people ask obviously classified questions?

Adam WuerlI'm a little disappointed my awesome answer to a question about deorbiting classified satellites was deleted. The Minotaur countdown has begun, with clocks ticking toward launch at 11:27 pm EDT (0327 GMT) from Virginia. #LADEE http://www.spaceflightnow.com/minotaur/ladee/status.html
@Tildal Oooh! Wish I could be here - but I have a piano recital to go to. No, I'm not reciting - it wouldn't be a recital then.
@Undo How's it called? "A series of unfortunate events or how my Friday was hijacked from me?"
I also have a conundrum ... stay and watch the launch, or go with my folks to the mountains for a day. But I'll certainly stay here at least long enough to start this event off, with links to streams and such. In about 2 hours time.
