> MOSCOW, Aug 8 (Reuters) - Russian airlines, including state-controlled Aeroflot, are stripping jetliners to secure spare parts they can no longer buy abroad because of Western sanctions, four industry sources told Reuters.
My friend contacted me yesterday and asked where she can order 'female hormonal drugs' from abroad. She was too shy to name the particular drug, although I asked three times. She said that the drug has vanished frrom Russian pharmacies. She has been told by the doctor to try out "sage tea" instead.
Thus far, VPNs are blocked, and if you publish information on how to install a VNP, you are a criminal. But it's not a crime to use them on an individual basis, thus far.
Among freelance translators, Indian translation agencies are believed to be the worst, for instance. People try to avoid working for them, for fear of being swindled.
@FaheemMitha I never understood what is Indiamart. I mean it is so common that it comes in Google search results every other day and I always ignore it like spam 😝
@Vikas It's just a place for companies to list their products. As I said already, I think it's quite export oriented. So more focused on bulk transactions. Mart as in market. It's not spam per se, though I can see why you would think so.
If you are looking for a product, it's one more place to look.
They list a lot of raw materials, and machinery as well. Things you wouldn't find on Amazon or Flipkart, for example. But with no reviews, it's hard to know about quality.
Though of course, reviews in India are not exactly reliable. Like everything else here, it's fraud-ridden.
For example, I was just recently looking at that site for a water flow indicator (or meter) for my place.
Hmm, so spiders aren't actually insects. I didn't know that. They're arachnids.
@CowperKettle I think the primary concern is for the safety of those riding the things.
Because of the small wheels, and high point of gravity, you are much more likely to fall than on a bicycle or any other vehicle. Because of the high point of gravity, you may fall a longer distance, too? This combined with the very high speeds electric vehicles can attain makes those electric kick scooters far more dangerous than other vehicles, I believe.
As to whether they cause more injuries to others, I don't know.
I do know, though, that I'd rather not have even more electric vehicles around the city: electric bicycles are booming here, and they are a serious problem for normal cyclists, because they go much faster, and they accelerate much faster from standstill.
I was born in the middle of Amish country, in PA, in a place called "Big Valley" (I don't think it's very big on a world-wide scale, but it's kind of big for mid-Appalachian valleys). Some groups of the Amish, in an attempt to stave off materialism and all that, have rules against vehicles including bicycles, but for some reason don't prohibit scooters.
I don't know why some of these couldn't be adapted to electrical power. Probably some have.
The small wheels that you mentioned have always seemed an engineering oversight to me, even from my earliest small-town Rural Amurica memories. They're good enough on a smooth surface, but even the cities that I've temporarily lived in (in S. America, mostly) always have cracks in the sidewalk. A small tree root thus becomes a potentially deadly barrier to a small boy in a hurry. Also, pneumatic tires seem to be under-rated in this application.
Yeah, it probably is decadent, unfortunately. Everything tends toward decay (Newton's second?)
@Cerberus Yes, without a seat, and you see that someone has taken special care to keep your CG as low as possible, and if you like to squat, you can keep it even lower than when on a bicycle.
@Cerberus If I understood rightly, that is the purpose of the rule.
An easy life is not conducive to the sort of spirituality that they aspire to.
Whether the formal inconvenience actually succeeds better, is not perhaps for me to judge, but it is certainly conducive to a great deal of otherwise untapped ingenuity in finding work-arounds that comply with the letter of the regulation and still get things done. Sorry for the slightly cynical flavor of that last part. I deeply appreciate some values of my birth neighbours.
@Cerberus As for electricity, this is just a better scooter design than most of the ones in the market (not taking compactness as a criteria, of course), so using it as a base would simply make the battery pack and motor perform better in the variety of terrains that I am used to. I haven't seen them, but I always remember this design when I see the latest "foldable" model in an advert. I say to myself, "Not those small wheels, not for any price".
