As you can see, according to the answer key, my answer is wrong. However, I did some research and found out that my version also works. Is it the case of the structure simply being more idiomatic with FOR?

Basically, since he is a Putin's relative, he was given a bribe of 380 million US dollars.
I guess Roman Anin now will get a lengthy sentence for something like "giving away important information to foreign intelligence". Such cases under Putin's laws can be processed in a completely closed fashion, without providing any glimplse of evidence to the public.
Another journalist has been languishing in court detainment under investigation for over a year now, and nobody even knows what he is charged with.
The horrible thing is that about half of Russians still support and adore Putin. A country of criminals.
