@Færd Maybe Barobax has inane texts, but it's still nice for a foreigner, who is necessarily insensitive to that.

Q: Relationship word describing the one being protected by a tutelary deity?

j khanFor example, A is B's tutelary deity. B is A's ____. I am writing a paper and looking for a word describing an established relationship in which one individual is protecting or looking out for another. (It does not need to be specific to religion.)

@Mitch IKR. They also move their wings when they fly. So outmoded.
@Cerberus Yes, quite.
I'm a bit pedantic and fussy about my taste in music and stuff. I should express my opinions in moderation, lest I appear to be imposing my personal taste on others.
(Or maybe I should worry less about what I appear to be doing. I can never find clear guidelines for this.)
(Whatever.)

Q: What to call someone who has recently become rich but now his/her attitude has worsen?

ParvatiI'm inclined to use parvenu but most meaning suggest about lacking refinement. I'm looking for someone who looks down on the poor. Maybe abusive to the poor.

15:40
@Færd Oh, there is no need for that.
People are adults; they know how it works.

@Cerberus I'm merciless enough in factual conversations. But when it comes to opinion, not framing them as objective observations is a matter of modesty, I suppose.

ShuaibIs there a specific noun for "a person who tries to avoid facing the problems in life or runs away from them"?

@Færd Context is key. I'm sure people will understand that you don't mean an opinion as an absolute truth.

@Cerberus Why does it always take it be practically the longest day of the year to realize that I can now appreciate the sunlit late evenings, but then also realize that it's all getting shorter fro then on.
@Mitch Such is life!
Haven't you always felt this way since early childhood?
I try to console myself saying that at least dawn won't surprise me awake behind my computer any more, in a month or two.
