Tada! Telegram is now officially blocked in Iran. (not over my WiFi connection though. Yet.)
@Cerberus It went on for more than ten hours here.
Hi
please correct my english
"Yes I know I took it from there but don't forget that in this community there are many capable people that can do best than those authors "
That's almost correct.
> Yes, I know I took it from there, but don't forget that in this community there are many capable people who can do better than those authors.
It could be improved further, of course.
yes could you suggest more ?
by the way thank you

Buon giorno!
@MetaEd Maidin mhaith!
早上好 !
@Mitch Is mhaith anywhere near Japan?
Or translated into Mitch: grumble grumble nhhnnhg
@MetaEd No!
14:13
Is that Captain Marvel?
I prefer American Maid.
Not particularly sensible shoes
@Mitch Trust me you don't want to be on the receiving end of those shoes.
But, like Angelina Jolie, she can use them as stealth weapons.
on one slippery movement, pull off one and then a jab of the stiletto to the jugular
@MetaEd Il faut souffrir pour être kickass
Perdonami. Parle Italiano?
14:16
Prego, no.
Pagliacci vino divino, allegretto, if you know what I mean
Key, largo.
speaking of which, have you been following the SE 'how do we be welcoming' thing?
I just got back from out of the country so I haven't been following anyting
Nice
14:43
> C'est vraiment délicieux les glaces.
Is that a dummy ce? Do we have that in Frech?
Yes
Es gibt viele solche Sprachen
Na und?
haha that was sarcastic. Not very welcoming.
@Mitch The es there too, you mean?
Chinese just doesn't bother: méi yõu dummy word auf Chinesisch
@Færd yes
@Færd Does Farsi use one?
14:52
But the original one is an almost non-English kind of dummy it.
> They're delicious, ice creams.
Or how would you translate it word-for-word?
That one sounds like a strict pronoun, 'they' definitely is supposed to stand in for a thing which turns out to be 'ice creams'
Oh...
hm...
@Mitch Umm, I guess.
The types of pronouns coming to my mind are all aided by a that.
OK, but you didn't say "Ceux-cis, ils sont délicieux, les glaces"
Yeah.
"C'est" is really non-referral
the 'ce' is not referring to a particular thing.
14:55
So Ce can't have a plural meaning?
sure, it can, just not in this circumstance.
If it were supposed to refer to the ice cream, then it would have been plural
Hmm. OK.
> It's important to go.
> It's important that we go.
Is the second one a dummy also?
Or maybe not. I don't know. "It's delicious, all this ice cream"
I think the first one is dumber.
'it' is kinda referring to something
so maybe in French it is not a dummy either.
@Færd Kinda both are dummy
@Færd they both sound equally like dummy "it's"
14:58

(Well, that's goodbye, but didn;t want to break the symmetry)
15:31
@Færd Ugh, that sucks. And now both Google and Amazon have blocked domain fronting, making it harder for Telegram to avoid the Russian (and possibly Iranian) censors.
16:10
@Educ I guess your comment is okay.
Except for the punctuation, perhaps: "Yes, I know. I took it from there. But ...".
@Cerberus Shame.
Did telegram use Google or Amazon domains to forward traffic to their own servers?
I wasn't really in favor of Telegram's monopoly of Iran's internet traffic (reported at about 60%).
But blocking foreign communication services is also dangerous for us in many ways.
@Færd Yes, in Russia, since the recent blockade.
Then the Russian censors blocked many Google domains.
Then Google stopped domain fronting.
Spineless niggards.
Hmm. They saved their own hide.
Not really.
Google I mean. That was a bold move on the Russians' part BTW.
1. Only some Google domains were blocked, and only in Russia. The damage for Google was manageable. 2. The censors would have reversed those blockades soon anyway: even the central bank warned them that this blockade was causing serious damage to the Russian economy.
Now it's all for nothing.
16:17
"anon means soon, though it once meant straight away. Presently also means soon, though it is increasingly misused to mean now."
I am learning.
@Cerberus Ah, I see.
@Keepthesemind Good luck!
@Cerberus I shit on them all. I'm very pissed today.
Good.
Any other specific reason?
Oh, I need to go in 1 minute, I'm late already.
I'm getting dressed in front of the computer.
Some of my friends work for the government to develop this app that's being substituted for Telegram.
When I ask them why, they give me all sorts of nonsense ...
That we'll talk about later.
See ya.
@Cerberus You're supposed to do that the other way around.
@Færd Oh, that really sucks.
At least they are being questioned!
@Keepthesemind Getting computered in front of the dress?
16:27
@Cerberus That's it. :)

Q: Looking for a word - getting upset at someone for doing well

OneirophreniaI'm looking for a word for someone being upset at someone else doing well or succeeding. Either a word for that sort of character trait or a word that describes that behaviour. It could include things like being annoyed at someone trying to make positive changes or something similar. The phrase t...

Oh, I forgot...it's more fun to play if you don't keep score (unless it's Spades)...but I'll never make it to "informed" :-( But look ( * )><( * ) I can make rubber ducks kiss...or are they decapitated birds? It's so hard to tell...out of context.
Here's a real question. Why does this word processor delete an asterisk if there's no space between it and a parenthesis?
23:16
@RegDwigнt Well, it's on the Internet.
So it must be true.
@KannE Because asterisks are used in Markup, which is active here: surrounding a bit of text in asterisks italicises it.
To avoid that, use this: \*
23:42
@Cerberus OIC...I was wondering why it removed my ducks' eyeballs and warped their faces...ha ha. Thanks, you're a genius.
