Q: Word for death bringer

DanI am working on a piece of writing where a character dies and death comes and takes him to the afterlife. But my question is, is there a better word for Death—as a character— or Grim Reaper. I would like something similar that means death bringer. Preferable something on the evil side, not an a...

@Cerberus They're OK, if you want to throw a party and spin some spine. Some catchy tunes and phrases here and there among their songs. They've really tried for their videos to be "popular"ly appealing.
There's not much artistically significant about them though. The lyrics are mostly just trite.

You could say they tread on the borderlines of what the cultural policing of the regime sanctions here.
I don't know if they're authorized to publish their works in the domestic market though.

Hi chat!
Is this correct?
A great career to me is sports.
Or

@BAYMAX "I'm satisfied with my care"

A great career for me is sports.

Well, can you explain what you want to say?

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ to me you have a mild allergy to peanuts 😂
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ i m asking which of my above two statements are correct?

Your wording is weird

7:28 AM
Which wording, can you explain?

I mean the way you formed your entire sentence is not familiar to me
It might as well be grammatical, but not make sense

I am trying to say to the audience while in a conversation that
A great career according to me, like which i want to pursue would be sports
Is it clear now?

"I wish to have a good/great/phenomenal/whatever career in sports in the future"

Now if our sports nature changes
That is now i am talking about my next sentence
A great career to me is to be a good human being
Is the above seem to be wrong?

7:47 AM
Ok
How abt this 1
To be a good human being is a great career one can pursue

Q: Word for a society including many tribes

ShayanI need a word that refers to a society in which there are many distinct tribes. I know a word tribal society, but it may refer to a single tribe not the whole society-I'm not sure though.

Sorry about that @BAYMAX. My internet started acting funny
@BAYMAX "being a good human being is a great career to pursue"

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ No problem!
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Ok, but what is wrong in my sentence.

@BAYMAX I don't think "to be" is wrong up there, but you should always opt for the better wording

hmm..ok!

@BAYMAX I'm not a native speaker of English; others might recommend better wordings, even

9:07 AM
No problem though, thanks for looking @M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ

@BAYMAX Don't mention it

? i did not get it?
are you saying about the ping?

Ah i see, :)

Q: Can one “season” coffee/tea? (Sugar, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, ...)

TomI am not looking for a workaround; I specifically want to capture the notion of “seasoning to one’s own taste,” but for coffee/tea. I have never encountered “season” in anything other than a savory context. “Flavor” or “sweeten” is an option, but it doesn’t seem quite right for, say, milk. Anot...

I've noticed that some users with high reputation numbers almost always answer the question in the comment section. Why do they do that? Does it have something to do with protecting their numbers?

3:29 PM
Although ODO recognizes commoner as the comparative form of common, "more common than" is overwhelmingly commoner than "commoner than" in Google Books.
@KannE Laziness?

3:50 PM
@KannE Nice, you found chat real quick. Easier to have conversations here.
To not answer your question, there is lots of commentary on this phenomenon on the main SE site stackoverflow.com but also here (search there and on meta.ELU)
But as someone who may fall in that set often, I can say for myself that that justification is the opposite from what would happen. A hi rep person is more likely, simply out of experience, likely to write a more quality answer and get more rep. Commenting doesn't protect their rep, they're giving up rep usually.
I'll give info in a comment that often can be perceived as an answer because I see the question as a simple dictionary or thesaurus or google lookup, and I'm just helping out the asker a little even though I think the question should be closed.

A: Commenting versus Answering

M.A.R. ಠ_ಠCommentators comment because they comment! They usually have their own reasons, but the reasons usually boil down to this: They're requesting clarification Without some context, it might be hard for us to help you. Could you provide a link to the source of the data or something similar? A ...

It's usually because it's not definite, and they post answers when they're sure
It's a side effect of setting a higher bar to a good SE answer
It's not to preserve rep
Oh, crap. What I linked isn't about comment answers, prolly

@Færd IIRC that was a recent(TM) change in English

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Oh thanks, same to you!
Sorry for the late response, I just got notified of your message.

@Gigili thank God, I thought I've done something wrong :)

Well, the fact that I did reply doesn't necessarily contradict that.

Oh, crap
@Gigili so what did I do wrong?

How recent are we talking?

@Gigili I dunno, maybe few months?
I do say delusional stuff sometimes, but it's often to be confronted. Like reaffirming my beliefs
Other than that, I dunno what I could have done. This is just a chat anyway

8:02 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ Sounds like a a confession

@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ now this sounds like I'm a weirdo

Have we had a conversation before?

@Gigili could be. Depends on how "did I really say that" it goes
@Gigili maybe, probably
Like a long conversation about sensitive topics?
That happens often enough in this one

The only one who has wrong doings is @Mitch, so not to worry.

Yay!
I have 140000 chat messages just here. You can't expect all of them to be a projection of me ;)

8:11 PM
@M.A.R.ಠ_ಠ high fives

Some of the nice ones too, probably

Okay, I should probably sleep now

Q: A word/phrase for a maybe-answer to a request?

SasanSometimes we ask others to do something for us, and they do not reject our request, but do not promise to do it either; they give us a maybe-answer such as "I don't promise, but will try to do my best" or "If I got some spare time". Is there any word/phrase for such kind of answer to requests?

Q: Is there a word or phrase for a process that takes in one thing and returns another thing of the same type?

Ethan McCueFor instance, in programming this would could be a function that takes in one String and returns another String. In manufacturing this would be something that takes in a Car and produces a different Car at the end or something that takes a chicken and produces a new chicken. I've been stuck on...
