@Cerberus Congrats for crushing Wilders.

@Robusto Gratias.
Although, even if he had won the most votes, it wouldn't have been a big deal, fortunately.
Let's hope Le Pen will lose in France.
Chances are low that she will win, but one can never be sure, these days.
At least they have two rounds.
If she wins the first round, everyone will vote for the other candidate in the second round.

@Lawrence He apparently used 180 degrees so that his needle on a circular dial would point down straight down at freezing and straight up at boiling. This doesn’t work well below 0 but brine’s freezing point at 0 was the coldest he could reliably measure. Either that or his wife had a fever all the time.

Q: What is a shorter term for "grammatical correctness"?

PureThe only one I can think of is "pronunciation", but that one is more related to the way you say it rather than to the way you write it.

What is a shorter term for "differential analysis"?
The only one I can think of is "number", but that one is more related to the way you count it.
WHAT THE FUCK.

What happened to your white owl avatar? @RegDwigнt
In chat it's a green pattern.

12:47 PM
I can see the owl alright.
If you can't see it, you must have a bug in your computer.
Simply uninstall it, and it will work fine.
While you're at it, download more RAM.

Looks white.
Sounds racist.
Tastes like chicken.

@skillpatrol It's a bug with Gravatar. It sometimes replaces Gravatars with identicons

@M.A.R. thanks for the info pal :-)

It ruined Jeff Atwood's avatar on meta.SE as well.

@Mitch Would you please provide the description of your chatroom with a link to the conversation you are continuing, so that other people can follow along?

@Tonepoet Sure.
another chatroom: No, 'no', POS, OED - "continuing the discussion about what the part of speech 'no' might be and relatedly whether OED is right"

@Mitch Thank you.

no problem

Ah, @Mitch I meant to indicate from where it is continuing. I never really did see the original comments that elicited it.

@Tonepoet Oh.
Right.
It all started from this:

Q: How can the word “no” be an adverb?

humeraI am an English teacher and keen to learn things in detail to explain to my students. I would like a detailed explanation of why the word “no” can be an adverb if it is being used alone in response to some question. It is not qualifying anything in this usage.

I see. Thanks. Hmm...

What's so important that Community is changing links from http to https? Is Stack Exchange starting to collect credit card info. or something?

@Tonepoet Enforcing HTTPS. Never read featured meta posts, do you? ;)

@M.A.R. I rarely visit the main meta site. I probably would have asked why it's happening anyway since the reason isn't very evident.

@Tonepoet Why not? It's a fun place. Much more fun than your own grim meta
Except all the diary-style FAQ-writing. That's more fun.

@M.A.R. I don't participate on our own meta so much either. I've only really been involved recently.
